Rockabye Baby!, Lullaby Renditions of Weezer

Savvy parents know that Rockabye Baby!’s instrumental covers LPs are endless fun for rock

& roll kids and their adults alike. Now the series is getting in on the cross-generational

Weezer party with sleepy-time takes on “Say It Ain’t So,” “El Scorcho” and, yes, “Only in

Dreams.” The deeply soothing 12-song set is out on clear vinyl for RSD.

Soothing cradle song collective

Rockabye Baby! recently released its

latest remakes of popular songs. This

time around, the group looked to

create calming instrumentals based on

Drake‘s lengthy catalog of hits.

Titled Lullaby Renditions of Drake, the

12-song album remakes chart-topping

tracks like “God’s Plan,” “In My

Feelings,” “Hotline Bling” and more into

surprising lullabies. Replacing the

usual bass and 808s found on the

Canadian rapper’s songs with sounds

of a xylophone, the project offers

pleasing tracks that highlight the impressive musical quality of the tracks. Previously Rockabye

Baby! has put together lullaby remakes for the catalogs of Kanye West, Michael Jackson, Lady

Gaga, The Rolling Stones and more.

Buzzfeed Mentions Lullaby Renditions of Lady Gaga

Babies famously coo, “Goo goo gaga,” so perhaps it

should come as no surprise that Rockabye Baby! is

releasing Lullaby Renditions of Lady Gaga.

That’s right, little monsters. You can now send your

own little monster off to dreamland with a little help

from Gaga classics like "Bad Romance."

Leo Flynn, the album's producer, says, "Lady Gaga is

such an iconic artist, it’s easy to forget how great a

Paper Magazine Discusses Lullaby Renditions of Lady Gaga

To a certain set of especially dedicated Little

Monsters, all Lady Gaga songs are essentially

lullabies. But now, you can play her music for the

littlest monsters of all: actual babies. LA-based

label Rockabye Baby! has been putting out infant-

appropriate versions of popular songs since 2006

(they started with Metallica). And now they're

tackling our beloved princess of pop, queen of Tony

Bennett's heart. Just call her Lady Googoo Gaga.

Rockabye Baby, Lullaby Renditions of Lady Gaga,

comes out September 21st. It includes several

songwriter she is. Her melodies are powerful, even when brought down to a hush. That’s when the

work is most gratifying, when we arrive at something really sweet that still moves you as a listener."

This is the 91st Rockabye Baby! album transforming popular music into lullabies. Lisa Roth, the

company's founder and creative director, says, “It was a no-brainer putting Lady Gaga on our 2018

release schedule; if anything it’s overdue.”

essential Gaga jams, including "Born this Way," "Bad Romance," "Alejandro," and "Poker Face."

Joanne tracks like "Perfect Illusion" and "Million Reasons" are also on the docket. The album

unfortunately does not include our current favorite Lady Gaga song, aka the endless "Oo-oo-OOOH"

note she sings in the A Star is Born trailer.

Rockabye Baby! Vice President Lisa Roth told Good Morning America that she initially founded

the label after failing to find a fun gift for a baby shower. She wanted something with "a sense of

humor [and] a little irony," and to "provide parents with something familiar and nostalgic that they

can also share with their little ones."

Billboard Discusses Rockabye Babywith Co-Creator Lisa Roth

In 2006, Lisa Roth forever changed the children's music

game when she found a way to make lullabies

appealing to both kids and their parents, co-creating the

Rockabye Baby! franchise. The sister of Van Halen

rocker David Lee Roth -- and a former nutritionist and

advisor to artists and music executives -- is now vice

president and creative director of Rockabye Baby!'s

parent label, Los Angeles-based country and bluegrass

CMH Label Group, which includes Vitamin Records,

home to the Vitamin String Quartet.

Roth has helped issue more than 85 Rockabye Baby! albums with child-friendly, instrumental

tributes to everyone from Metallica to Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, The Clash and Kanye West.

A Beastie Boys edition is slated for release April 27, with a vinyl version for Record Store Day.

Even though the records are heavy on the glockenspiel, "it's a series created for the adults as

much as the babies," says Roth. "I think that we accomplished both very well."

Billboard caught up with Roth to discuss what goes into crafting a baby-friendly version of Black

Sabbath, the label's upcoming release schedule and how they have adapted to survive in a

streaming-dominated music industry.

What are some of your upcoming releases?

A couple that I am excited about in the future are Lady Gaga in the summer and Tom Petty next

fall. We generally aim for six to eight releases in a year.

Are there any new genres that you'd like to branch into?

We have pretty much covered everything, from country to hip-hop, rock, and pop but are very

open to all genres. Maybe EDM next? This company is staffed with 22 music lovers and people

who are extremely knowledgeable about music and everybody has their own taste. EDM is right

up there, so I dare say it's only a matter of time before we do it.

What was the hardest album to pull off?

The one that always comes to mind is Black Sabbath because there are so many minor chords,

and producing minor chords using a palette of organic instruments is very difficult. Holding a

chord using a wood block is no easy task. Kanye West was tricky as well. There is more of a beat

and a rhythm and very little melody in particular songs, or the rap has a rhythm to it but no

melody. With those, we have to be creative about how to fill that in and make it recognizable.

When you create a lullaby version of a song, you want it to be soft and cute and relaxing for the

baby. But at the same time, you want to retain the original intention of the artist for the adult

listener. Finding that perfect balance is a little bit of an art form.

What have been your best sellers?

Some of our best sellers have been bands like The Beatles, Coldplay, Queen and Journey. And

then some of our newer artists that sold amazingly well right out of the gate are Adele, Beyonce

and Taylor Swift. One surprise was that Blink-182 was huge. And our soundtrack of Hamilton did

really well digitally.

HuffPost Mentions Lullaby Renditions of Justin Timberlake

From his time in *NSYNC to his successful solo career, Justin

Timberlake has captured millennial hearts around the world. Now

as those fans are growing up and having babies, they can pass

their JT love down to their kids from the beginning.

Rockabye Baby, the company that produces instrumental

baby-friendly versions of popular songs, has announced an

upcoming album of Justin Timberlake lullabies. “Lullaby

Renditions of Justin Timberlake” includes adorable baby-friendly

versions of such hits as “Rock Your Body,” “Bye Bye Bye,”

“Mirrors,” and “Can’t Stop The Feeling!”

Entertainment Weekly Mentions Lullaby Renditions of Hamilton

Since the moment Hamilton first started gaining

mainstream attention, the internet has abounded

with videos of little kids singing along to Lin-

Manuel Miranda’s popular musical numbers. Now,

even infants can get in on the party, thanks to

Rockabye Baby!’s rendition of Hamilton songs in

lullaby form.

The first track, “Alexander Hamilton,” is available

now to help rock restless babies to sleep, and the

full album will be available March 31. Correctly

“Lullaby Renditions of Justin Timberlake” includes adorable baby-friendly versions of his songs.

“Mr. Timberlake is the whole package in an old school kind of way, which I like,” VP and Creative Director at

CMH Label Group and Rockabye Baby, Lisa Roth, told HuffPost. “He sings, dances, write songs, acts. He comes

from the mega musical town of Memphis and honed his singing chops in church like most of my favorite R&B

singers, and you can hear it. And you have to give him props for going from boy band to a successful solo

career to actor without any meltdowns in between.”

Added Roth, “We hope our lullabies of JT entertain the parents as much as their little ones, and that through

our albums we provide a bridge between the adult who existed pre-baby and parenthood.”

For those parents with particularly fussy babies, might we suggest “Cry Me A River.”

guessing that most infants won’t listen to anything for two-and-a-half hours, Lullaby Renditions of

Songs from Hamilton only includes eight of the musical’s better-known tracks.

NPR Discusses Rockabye Baby!Lullaby Renditions of Beyoncé

Everything about the long-running

Rockabye Baby! music series

sparks a smile. On its surface

alone the project, which turns hits

by Black Sabbath, Prince and

other pop and rock artists into

tinkling lullabies, is pure comedy,

mining the gulf between Iron

Maiden and a pacifier. But it’s also

notable for how fully realized and

deftly orchestrated these cover songs are.

It’s nothing you’re going to crank on your car stereo while speeding down

the highway with the windows down, but you can still marvel at how well

it’s done and, if you actually have a newborn baby, it’s a delight to play

for them (if only as a wink to how cool you really are).

The latest in the series pays tribute to the music of Beyoncé – and

comes just after the singer announced she’s

pregnant with twins (though I’m told the timing is

a complete coincidence). Lullaby Renditions of

Beyoncé features a mix of hits from across Bey’s

solo career, from her work with Destiny’s Child

through her most recent release, Lemonade,

including the song, “Hold Up.”

Refinery29.com PremieresLullaby Renditions of Adele Video

If Adele's ballads are known to make grown men

and women weep, what affect will lullaby versions

of her tunes have on babies? Surely, the goal of a

lullaby is to get a baby to stop crying, not to start

him wailing — so, is the concept of an Adele lullaby

counterintuitive? Or are infants immune to her

powers for conjuring emotion?

We'll soon have answers to all these questions and

more. Rockabye Baby is set to release an album of

Adele's hits transformed into lullabies. The track list

includes songs from all three of the British

songstress' LPs. It even features a baby-friendly

version of her Bond theme, "Skyfall." The new

compilation is set to be released April 29.

Adele is not the first artist to get the Rockabye Baby treatment. Tykes can also groove

to the sweet melodies of Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and even Blink-182.

Billboard.com Mentions Lullaby Renditions of Taylor Swift

The perfect gift for the Swifties in your life

is here.

Rockabye Baby!, which regularly releases

lullaby albums from contemporary artists,

will drop a Taylor Swift album on Friday.

Featuring everything from “Our Song” and

“You Belong With Me” to “Blank Space,” the

album is a great way to recruit the babies

in your life into the Swift fandom by

introducing them to all the highlights

before they are even out of diapers.

Paper Magazine Talks About Lullaby Renditions of Rihanna

Okay, lowkey, Rockabye Baby’s

been making some amazing

lullabies out of heart-racingly hyped

songs a la that amazing rendition of

Kanye’s “Gold Digger” and their

entire Metallica album. However,

they may have just dropped their

greatest sleeper hit yet with today’s

release of Lullaby Renditions of

Rihanna, which --yes-- translates all

of her biggest hits into soothing

zzz-fodder. For baby boo and you!

Jezebel blog The Muse Features Lullaby Renditions of Rihanna

...I’m going to make the argument that this

album of Rihanna songs converted to

lullabies for babies is straight flames,

whether one is a baby or an adult. It is the

least ageist baby music I have ever heard,

and not just because Rihanna makes great

music; the conceit of “lullaby renditions of

Rihanna” is initially stupid until you hear the

way they’ve been played, with ill and subtle

layering of sounds, and sound effects, that

call to mind the minimal sonic aesthetics of

German microhouse.

USA Today Features Lullaby Renditions ofDavid Bowie’s Space Oddity Music Video

If there's one thing David Bowie fans know, is

that his music is appropriate for all ages, from

young Americans to those in their (wait for it)

golden years.

A new entry in the Rockabye Baby! franchise

may help create a new generation of Bowie-

lovin' babies. Released this week, Lullaby

Renditions of David Bowie includes mellow,

instrumental takes on Heroes, Let's Dance, The

Man Who Sold the World and other hits.

I've mentioned the series before, which has transformed tunes by

more than 60 artists into sweet sleepy-time songs. (I own a few,

including the Smiths and Depeche Mode records.) Today I'm debuting

the new, kid-friendly video for Rockabye's take on Space Oddity.

Says series executive producer Lisa Roth:

You can't produce a music series like Rockabye Baby! and

not pay homage to David Bowie, one of the most

innovative and influential music icons out there. His

contributions go far beyond the music: He's a

performance artist, a poet and definitely a fashion icon.

Pharrell, Beyonce Get Lullabied on New Rockabye Baby Album (Song Premiere)

Listen to the Lullaby version of Pharrell's "Happy" and see the

tracklist for "Good Baby, Bad Baby"; Next up for the popular

series: Maroon 5 and Bruce Springsteen

For only the third time in its nearly eight-year history, the award-winning

Rockabye Baby series is releasing a compilation title.

On June 24, the division of CMH Label Group -- best known for turning the

songs of Metallica, Madonna, Nirvana, Jay Z, the White Stripes, the Clash, Tool

and many others into baby-friendly lullabies -- will release "Good Baby, Bad

Baby." The set includes eight new freshly Rockabyed tracks, including Pharrell

Williams' "Happy,” Beyonce's "Halo," Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," Maroon 5's "She

Will Be Loved" and Radiohead's "Creep" and is, according to Executive

Producer and Creative Director Lisa Roth, designed to put a musical spin on

the duality of child-rearing.

"The biggest irony of parenting is you have this baby that's so cute and so loved,

but sometimes it drives you crazy," Roth tells Billboard. "So this is a little homage

to all the parents out there.”

'Rockabye Baby!' series renders another icon

parent-approved

Jay-Z is skewing toward a younger audience for his next album

— a much younger audience. Like, Blue Ivy's age. Rockabye

Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Jay-Z will arrive on July 9. The

upcoming set reimagines 12 of Jigga's best-known tracks as

baby-friendly tunes that will ease the little ones to sleep.

"Jay-Z's heavily rhythmic style and mastery of flow translate

effortlessly to the soothing bedtime arrangements," reads a

press release. The collection draws from Mr. Carter's entire

career: The Blueprint 3's 2009 monster hit, "Empire State of

Mind," is comfortably nestled next to "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto

Anthem)," from 1998's Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life. For a preview of

the record's xylophone- and bell-led arrangements, head over

to the Rockabye Baby! website. Pre-orders are also available.

The Rockabye Baby! franchise has previously baby-proofed

songs by Blur, the Ramones, Black Sabbath, the Foo Fighters,

and Kanye West. A similar series, Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock

Star, has given the same treatment to Guns N' Roses, Beck,

Arcade Fire, and Nirvana.

On the subject of babies and bedtime,

Jay recently put to rest rumors that

Beyoncé is pregnant with a second child.

The King of New York curtly told Hot 97
