We hope that all new residents will come to the Parish Center to register.
Adult Christian Initiation If you are interested in exploring the Catholic faith or completing your initiation into the Church please call
the Parish Center.
Infant Baptism Preparation If you wish to arrange a baptism at Sacred Heart Church, please
contact the Parish Center at 516-379-1356 X10. One of our baptism coordinators will be happy to arrange a
time to meet with you. This conversation provides an opportunity to discuss the Baptism ceremony as well as
set a date for the sacrament. Ideally, both Godparents should be practicing Catholics. We will review the
procedures for the sacrament and you will be able to fill out all the necessary paperwork. Baptisms are held on
the first and third Sunday of each month at 2pm in the church. First time parents need to attend a Baptism
Class. They are held on the last Monday of each month in the church at 7:30pm. Crying babies welcome!
Godparents are encouraged but not required to attend.
Sacrament of Matrimony Please contact the Parish Center at least one year in advance of the
intended date of the wedding. A priest of the parish will interview you, set the wedding date and help you
register for the required marriage preparation program (Pre-Cana).
Sacrament of Reconciliation A priest is available each Saturday at 4:00 P.M. in the Church.
Please don’t hesitate to call a priest at the Parish Center for an appointment for Confession at another time.
Sacraments for the Homebound If you or a family member are not able to attend Mass due
to temporary or chronic illness, and would like to receive the Sacraments of Communion, Reconciliation and/
or Anointing of the Sick please call the Parish Center.

My Dear, Fr. Stephen, Deacon Charles, Staff,
Rev. Sisters and Parishioners;
I write to express my profound gratitude to you all for
your love, care, prayers, guidance, blessings and
unflinching support during my one year stay with you
at Sacred Heart Church.
I am very grateful to you, dear Fr. Stephen for the
exposure, care and love. Though you did not know
me, you trusted me and gave me the opportunity to
work and study under you. I am really thankful to
you for allowing me to use the “parish truck” for my
pastoral ministry. I thank you for everything you did
for me during my stay with you.
I thank our noble Staff for the joy and love we shared
together as a family.
I thank you dear Rev. Sisters of St. Joseph for your
love, encouragement, blessings and pieces of advice.
To my dear Parishioners, I can’t thank you enough
for your love, care and kindness towards me. You are
a wonderful family. You fed me so well. You
provided food for me. You treated me as your own.
You provided for my needs. You guided me on
certain important things I needed to know. May God
always bless you all.
My Bishop in Ghana; Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu
and my family are grateful to you for everything as I
am. It is my fervent prayer that anytime I lift up the
cup of salvation at Holy Mass, the Lord will bless and
reward you with all you need in this life and in the
life to come. Amen.
Sacred Heart Church in North Merrick is my Home
Parish in the U.S.A. and it will always be my Home.
Please, pray for me. I will also pray for you.
I will miss you all.
Long live Sacred Heart Church.
Long life the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
Long live America.
May God bless you all.
Your Son,
Rev. Fr. Martin Adu Gyamfi
As we celebrate Father’s Day, we think of the strength of a father, his guiding hand, his wisdom, his help.
God the Father gave up his only Son, Jesus Christ, so that we might be saved through him.
He provides an example of the very vocation of fatherhood.
Fathers are to sacrifice their lives for their families.
They do this by:
• Being the spiritual leader and guardian of their families.
• Praying for and with their families.
• Being a courageous witness to the Gospel.
• Providing care and support for their families.
• Serving as an example of goodness and truth.
• Leading with courage and accountability.
• Laying down one’s life for another.
Today, in a special way, let us be grateful for: • Our fathers, by birth or adoption, who love us and support us through life.
• Our Church leaders, who take on the paternal role of guiding us through life.
• And God our Father, who will always teach justly and grant us boundless mercy.
Happy Father’s Day!

The Peanut Butter and Jelly Gang meets on Monday nights at 7pm in the
Cafeteria. Everyone attending should bring a loaf of bread. Our sandwiches are being
donated to the Long Island Council of Churches in Freeport and to The Inn in Long Beach. We
are also still collecting toiletry items for the Blessing Bags. We make them up for
distribution about once a month depending on how many contributions are received.
Your donation helps so much in enabling us to buy peanut butter, jelly, sandwich bags and
also gallon size bags for the Blessing bags. We also greatly appreciate the many
donations that are sent in by our wonderful parishioners!

While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to
them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many."
