HOLY GHOST

ST.

PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH for the world during the pandemic

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulaon, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke

your patronage also. Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with

which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his

Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessies.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving Father, ward off from us every

contagion of error and corrupng influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the

power of darkness. As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God's Holy Church from the snares of the

enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protecon, so that, supported by your example and your aid,

we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen.

Handicap Entrance Door at St. Stan’s

By the time you read this bulletin the automatic door

opener on the northwest door from the parking lot

should be fully operational. We hope that will be a help

to our older members. This gift is made possible

through a generous donation in memory of Florian and

Virginia Grzywa. We thank their family for this

generous donation.

Last fall we removed two very large

trees from the front of the rectory (one

very dead spruce and one abouttobe

dead ash tree. This opened up a lot of

space and landscaping possibilies to fill

the void. Last spring people at St.

Stanislaus responded to my appeal for donaons to

plant 9 trees in the church and school parking lots. We

even had one donaon from a Holy Ghost parishioner

for that project.

I am appealing to anyone interested in helping the

Holy Ghost “Reforestaon 2021” program to step

forward to sponsor a tree or shrub. These are the

possibilies:

 1 Japanese Clump Lilac$455.00

 1 Variegated Maple $445.00

 1 Autumn Blaze Maple $459.00

 5 Cleveland Pear Trees$435.00 each

 1 Weeping Birch $500.00

 2 Weeping Blue Spruce$200.00 each

 5 Viburnum Bushes $45.00 each

Please contact Carrie at the parish office

4027313176 to let her know if you would be willing to

help in this effort. The Men’s Club will cover other

expenses. Donaons of any amount would be

appreciated to help with the new shrubs and perennials

in front of the church as well.

The Feast of the Holy Trinity

Trinity Sunday is a moveable feast celebrated

a week after Pentecost Sunday. Trinity

Sunday honors the most fundamental of

Christian beliefsbelief in the Holy Trinity.

The human mind can never fully understand the mystery

of the Trinity, but we can sum it up in the following

formula: God is three Persons in one Nature. There is

only one God, and the three Persons of Godthe Father,

the Son, and the Holy Spiritare all equally God, and

they cannot be divided.

As Fr. John Hardon points out in his Modern Catholic

Dictionary, the or igins of the celebration of Tr inity

Sunday go all the way back to the Arian heresy of the

fourth century. Arius, a Catholic priest, believed that

Jesus Christ was a created being rather than God.

In denying the divinity of Christ, Arius denied that

there are three Persons in God. Arius' chief opponent,

Athanasius, upheld the orthodox doctrine that there are

three Persons in one God, and the orthodox view

prevailed at the Council of Nicaea, from which we get

the Nicene Creed, recited in most Christian churches

every Sunday.

(The Council of Nicaea also gives us a wonderful

example of how a real bishop deals with a heretic:

Confronted with Arius' blasphemous views, Saint

Nicholas of Myrathe man best known today as Santa

Clausmarched across the council floor and slapped

Arius across the face.)

To stress the doctrine of the Trinity, other Fathers of

the Church, such as St. Ephrem the Syrian, composed

prayers and hymns that were recited in the Church's

liturgies and on Sundays as part of the Divine Office, the

official prayer of the Church.

The mystery of the Trinity is outlined in the Nicene

Creed but is also summarized in the Baptismal Creed

(and renewal of Baptism promises on Easter). Various

qualities/functions/powers of the Three Divine Persons

are presented in the Gloria of the Mass and the Apostles

Creed. We always begin our prayers, even the Mass,

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit.” In Holy Baptism we are baptized in the

name of the three persons of the Trinity. The

“Doxology” (or the prayer we commonly refer to as the

“Glory Be”) addresses the Three Persons in the One

Godhead.

The mystery of the Trinity is a sublime mystery that

surpasses the capability of the human mind to grasp. It

seems to defy logic and reason: one God in Three Divine

Persons; Three Persons yet one God. One + One + One

= One. Even the angels and Blessed in Heaven do not

grasp the mystery completely; they don’t even try. They

really don’t need to do that. They are drawn into the

mystery of His divine love and nothing more is needed.

So it should be for us here below as well.
