FROM FR. JOE
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of
the Holy Trinity. Of all the liturgical
celebrations, it might be one of the most difficult
to appreciate. It seems rather abstract to many
Catholics. And yet it is the most important fundamental
doctrine of them all. One can not appreciate the Good News
of Christmas or Easter without some insights into the
Greatest Mystery of our Faith, the Mystery of the Most
Holy Trinity, that somehow "The One thing is Three" as
some Fathers of the Church have expressed it.
This Fall, beginning on Thursday September 13th,
I will be gathering with parishioners to read through an
amazing book authored by Fr. Gaitley entitled, "The One
Thing is Three: How the Most Holy Trinity explains
everything." I hope you will join us for a series of sessions
beginning that evening. It will be a wonderful Adult Faith
education opportunity. There will be a video, a discussion
and an opportunity to breakout into small groups. I'm over
half way through the book and think you will find it thought
provoking. May the Lord bless us this weekend. May we
grow in our appreciation of our Mysterious God, One God
Three Persons, entering more fully into the divine life they
have shared for all eternity, into which they now invite us.
~Fr. Joe (Two sessions on Thursdays. Space is limited. Sign
up sheets located in pamphlet rack and Cathedral Book & Gift.)
