A MESSAGE FOR YOU
Pg . 3
A Pilgrimage to Poland
I remember writing on the Preface of my first published philosophical book, “Karol Wojtyla's Theory of Participation,” (1995: St. Paul Publications), and I quote:
“A great thinker, prolific writer, and now chief pastor of the Catholic church, Pope John Paul II has captivated many people who seek to unravel him, his philosophical and theological thoughts. I am no exception. His universal concern for the future of the Church and of society as pope has made me ask: What are the foundations of his thoughts?”
I was then preparing to write my masteral thesis in Philosophy. I wanted to study the philosophy of Jürgen Habermas about the Theory of Communicative Action but was discouraged by my mentor to study another philosopher who could be of practical use to my ministry. One morning while having breakfast with the seminary community, but the faculty at the San Jose Major Seminary, Ateneo de Manila University shared one table together during breakfast, a faculty member mentioned something about Pope John Paul II that intrigued me. He was talking about the influence of St. Augustine’s philosophy of the body on Pope John Paul II’s theology of the body. After the breakfast, I went to the library and looked for Pope John Paul II’s philosophical writings and I found his book, entitled: “The Acting Person.” I read it and found a chapter on participation that he said was tentatively written. I took up the topic to become my research work.
Hoping to understand what he was before he ascended the papacy, I turned to some of his pre-papal writings. Thus it made up my first book. The pilgrimage to Poland and my visit to the places I read in the course of my research would deepen my understanding and appreciation of now, St. John Paul II. As we visit the holy places in Poland, rest assured of my prayers for you. Remember us, too, in your prayers.
Thank you very much and God bless,
Fr. Rolyn Francisco

A Prayer for Generosity
Dear Lord, teach me to be generous,
teach me to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wound,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for a reward,
save that of knowing that I do Your will.
~ St. Ignatius of Loyola
Una oración para la generosidad
Señor Jesús
enséñanos a ser generosos,
a servirte como Tú mereces,
a dar sin medida,
a combatir sin temor a las heridas,
a trabajar sin descanso,
sin esperar otra recompensa
que saber que hemos cumplido
Tu santa voluntad.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
All hail, adored Trinity! All hail, eternal Unity! O God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit, ever One.
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.
Three persons praise we evermore, One only God our hearts adore; In Thy sure mercy, ever kind, may we Your strong protection find.
O Trinity! O Unity! Be present as we worship Thee: And with the songs that angels sing unite the hymns of praise we bring.
First Reading—Exodus 34:4B-6, 8-9 Second Reading—2 Corinthians 13:11-13
Gospel —John 3:16-18
Blest be God the Father, and the Only Begotten Son of God, and also the Holy Spirit, for he has shown us his merciful love.

Lord Jesus Christ, I firmly believe that you are present in this Blessed Sacrament as true God and true Man, with your Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. My Redeemer and my Judge,
I adore your Divine Majesty together with the angels and saints. I believe, O Lord; increase my faith.
Gal 4: 6 Since you are children of God, God has sent into your hearts the Spirit of his Son, the Spirit who cries out: Abba, Father.

Long after the tears fall, I’m still Your child. I’ve put down my defenses, and lay down my pride.
Love and forgiveness flow deep and wide. So I’ll run to You, and surrender all,
As I lay down my life and pick up my cross. What a joy it is to give my life away to You.
All that I need, all that I seek is You here with me. Holy Spirit, have Your way in me.
In times of trouble, though trials may come, The Rock of Ages is standing strong.
I’m fighting battles, but the war is won. So I’ll run to You, and surrender all,
More of You, and less of me, God. (Six times)
More of You, overflowing.
John Michael Talbot ©1983 Birdwing
Father make me holy. Jesus make me holy. Spirit make me holy, Holy One.
The Father will cherish me. Jesus will cherish me. The Spirit will cherish me, Kindly One.
The Three aid my hope. The Three aid my love. The Three aid mine eyes and my knees from
stumbling.
In the name of the Father; In the name of the Son; In the name of the Spirit, Three in One.

Elizabeth wanted a child, to love, to have, and to hold, But her dreams would fade away
as her body grew old.
Zechariah wanted a son, to raise, to guide, to behold. He couldn't believe the gift he'd receive,
so in silence he did as he was told.
John danced in the womb, for his cousin, his savior, the Lord. By grace he was given the Spirit so he could baptize the Word.
And the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit came down,
And at last we see the Trinity, Father, Spirit, Son.
John lived in the wild preaching the need for repentance from sin.
He called us to the water to cleanse ourselves from sin.
Jesus had come to serve to give his life for love. What we see on that day in the Jordan is the blessing
from above.
And the voice of the Father thundered: This is my son,
My beloved son with whom I am well pleased, listen to Him.
Matt Maher and Josh Blakesly ©2006 spiritandsong.com
Your voice is over the waters, Your voice is over the seas.
Your voice is mighty in power and wisdom, in love and charity.
The heavens thunder Your glory. The Heavens testify.
The heavens shine in the darkness for all of creation a Holy light.
You will be exalted. You will be lifted high. You will be our Savior forever and ever our God be
glorified.
You have made us your chosen. You have set us apart.
You have poured out Your Spirit and started a fire within our hearts.
