From the Pastor: Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, As we celebrate the great Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ this Sunday I pray that each one of you will have a deep experience of His love and grow ever more aware of the gift He gives us each time we come to Mass and receive Him in the Eucharist. Behold the Lamb of God, Behold Him who takes away the sins of the world, blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. These words that we pray at every Eucharist, just before receiving Communion, should ring out in our hearts as an invitation to grow in our love and respect for God in the Holy Mass and Holy Eucharist. We should not take such a great gift for granted. There are a few practical points that I think we can work on as a community to show a greater depth of our love for the Lord in Church. If we work on them together, we will all benefit more from this gift. First is the atmosphere of silence and prayer in Church before and after Mass. As we gather for the Eu- charist it is good to prepare our hearts, minds and souls for the Celebration by spending some time in silent prayer before Mass begins. If we see someone we know as we come into Church, a quiet nod or handshake is enough until we can speak to them after Mass outside the Church. This will help to foster the atmosphere of prayer and preparation for each other. We have grown accustomed to socializing inside the Church and the only one that does not get our attention is Jesus. I kindly ask you to socialize outside and maintain a climate of prayer inside so that we can all grow in our relationship with Him in prayer as we wait for Mass to begin. Then after Mass as well we should quietly give thanks and leave in silence so that those who wish to stay and pray can do so peacefully. We can socialize as soon as we get outside. Secondly, at the sign of peace in the liturgy, we are asked to simply turn to those on our right and left or in front and behind us to offer a sign of Christs peace. It is not meant to be a time of conversation and commenting on the weeks news. Again, we can do that after Mass outside. The sign of peace is a part of the liturgy and should be prayerful. We do not have to give it to everyone literally, but rather we all receive it by giving it to those around us. Once the Lamb of God prayer begins, then we should all be participating in it and not continuing the sign of peace. It is often not prayed properly because everyone is extending the sign of peace unnecessarily. All of the liturgy is beautiful and has a flow to it that draws us into the depth of Christs love for us. I hope that together we can all grow in that love. We will if we always put Him first and allow Him to transform us. O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine.Sincerely in Christ, Father Thomas Bennett The MOST HOLY BODY and BLOOD of Christ / El CUERPO y La SANGRE de CRISTO Queen of Peace Parish 30 W 1st Street, Ste A, Mesa, AZ 85201 480.969.9166 Fax 480.969.8102 Pastor: Father Thomas Bennett, Vicars: Father Quyen Nguyen, C.M.F., Father Timothy Seavey June 3, 2018 Parish School 480.969.0226 3 de Junio de 2018

ORDINATION INFORMATION FOR DEACON FRANKIE CICERO

Date Night Team invites you to join us and the Navarro’s as they share their story as to:

“HOW WE SURVIVED WITH GOD”

Paulino and Sandy Navarro have been together 16 yrs. Married civilly for 6 and Married by the Church at Queen Peace April 2017. We both were raised Catholic and have received all of our Sacraments. We are a blended family and together we have 5 boys. We are grandparents of 13

beautiful grandchildren. We found Queen of Peace 7 yrs. ago when we came to our friend’s Wed-ding not knowing that Queen of Peace was going to be our parish. We decided to participate in the Core Team because “Married” in the eyes of God makes sense and it is the way to help each other get to Heaven.

On June 16th, 6:30 – 8:30 PM in Madonna Hall which is the building in back of the school

ALL COUPLES ARE WELCOME We will have our regular sign in, snacks, fellowship and monthly prayer partners.

Remember there is nothing the devil would like better than to see your marriage fail!

Next Date Night August 18th, Fr. Frankie will be a speaker, his topic “Sexual Ethics”
