From the Parish Office:
Thank you to all the St.

for their generous
contributions to the
Maryknoll Society Mission. We
collected over $5,000.
We of St. Clement of Rome Parish, with the Power of the Spirit, welcome, embrace and unite all the many faces of
Christ who worship with us. As a family, we deepen our faith and seek God in the community,
through prayer and good works.

St. Clement is hosting a diaper and baby wipe drive for
the Agape Center! We are looking for sizes 4, 5 & 6. Please
place your donations on the metal cart in the gathering
area. We will be collecting these items until June 30. Your
donation is much appreciated!

invite you to its 2nd Annual Outdoor Game Night.
Once again this year we are hosting an evening for our
families on Friday, July 12 at 6:00 p.m. Bring your favorite outdoor games,
your lawn chairs and enjoy an evening filled with fun for all ages. We will
provide hot dogs, snacks, sodas, water, desserts and s’mores. For those
who wish to join in, we will also recite the rosary as we relax around the
fire. Hope you can join us for this special family night.

Respond to the call of
Our Lady. The need for rosaries is
great and urgent. Become a
missionary by making rosaries for
missions in the U.S., the military,
and all around the world. It’s easy
to learn and we can provide all
your initial supplies. We’ll have a
good time, sharing and making
rosaries together at the meeting.
Our next meeting is Wednesday,
June 26 at 10:00 a.m. in the
social hall. Stay as long as you
are able. All you need to bring is a
smile. For more information

A Family Perspective
In today’s gospel Jesus
teaches we will find
abundance by sharing
the little we have. No
matter how little time, money or
food we have, it is enough to share.

UNFORGIVABLE- NOT REALLY By Deacon Kurt Godfryd
In her article, What Does the Bible Say About,
Forgiveness, author Mary Fairchild describes the
power of forgiveness:
“Forgiveness is a choice we make through a
decision of our will, motivated by obedience to
God and his command to forgive.” (see Colossians 3:13)
When we forgive, we do so out of faith and obedience. We “trust God to
do the work in us that needs to be done so that our forgiveness will be
complete.”
“We must continue to forgive by faith (our job) until the work of
forgiveness (the Lord’s job) is done in our hearts.” (see Philippians 1:6)
In Matthew 18:21-22, Jesus teaches Peter (along with you and me) to
be generous with our forgiveness. As such, Jesus “makes it clear that
forgiveness is not easy for us. It’s not a one-time choice and then we
automatically live in a state of forgiveness. Forgiveness may require a
lifetime of forgiving, but it is important to the Lord. We must continue
forgiving until the matter is settled in our heart.”
We must forgive because Jesus has told us that if we don’t forgive,
neither will we be forgiven. (see Mt 6:14-16 and Mk 11:25)
During 1982, the unsuccessful assassination attempts of President
Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II taught the world about the power of
forgiveness and the healing it brings.
The president’s daughter, Patti Davis, recounted her father’s
witness: “The following day after the assassination attempt, my father
said he knew his physical healing was directly dependent on his ability to
forgive his attacker, John Hinckley. By showing me that forgiveness is the
key to everything, including physical health and healing, he gave me an
example of Christ-like thinking.”
Following his shooting by Mehmet Ali Ağca, now Saint John Paul
II asked people to “pray for my brother [Ağca] … whom I have sincerely
forgiven.” Later, he and Ağca met and spoke privately at the prison where
Ağca was being held. After their meeting, Ağca kissed the Pope’s ring and
it has been said that the Holy Father remained in touch with his family
over the years.
When I was a teenager, two of my great aunts were reunited at the
funeral of another family member. Having not spoken to one another in
twenty years, it was though a pall had been lifted within our family. But, I
can still remember thinking: “Twenty years without contact. Over what? A
disagreement.”
In your family, perhaps a similar “family feud” exists. If so, perhaps now
is the time to forgive and make amends.

A Lesson About Anger “There once was a little boy who had a very bad
temper. His father decided to hand him a bag of nails and
said that every time the boy lost his temper, he had to
hammer a nail into the fence.
On the first day, the boy hammered 37 nails into that fence.
The boy gradually began to control his temper over the next few weeks,
and the number of nails he was hammering into the fence slowly
decreased. He discovered it was easier to control his temper than to
hammer those nails into the fence.
Finally, the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told
his father the news and the father suggested that the boy should now pull
out a nail every day he kept his temper under control.
The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that
all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to
the fence.
‘You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence
will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar
just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t
matter how many times you say I’m sorry, the wound is still there.'”
