BEESLACK COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOLSUPPORTS WISCONSIN 201 2

My name is Faye Perkins; Ihave travel led fromWisconsin to teach aPersonal Wel lness class to1 1 students.   I am aprofessor at the Universityof Wisconsin-River Fal ls andteach in the Health &Human PerformanceDepartment.

As part of our Wel lnessproject we have teamed up with BeeslackCommunity High School to take part in theirschools new Cycl ing initiative. This cycl inginitiative has given us the opportunity tobecome involved with the Beeslack School andCommunity by al lowing us to use theirequipment and enjoy this cycl ing experience.

We cycled along the new path to Sheriff hal land then back to Beeslack albeit the weatherwas horrendous. The experience wastremendous. This would not have beenpossible without the support of Annabel leOates and her l inks with Beeslack CommunityEducation Department, Beeslack CommunityHigh School and our volunteer leader JohnFairgrieve who gave up his time to lead us inour adventure.

The Wisconsin in Scotland (WIS) program is anamazing experience that offers virtual lyl imitless opportunities for educational andpersonal growth. It is an opportunity ful l ofchal lenges, new experiences, and greatrewards.

The Wisconsin in Scotland program is a facet ofthe West Central Wisconsin Consortium(WCWC), under the authority granted by theUW Board of Regents. UW-River Fal ls, UW-Stout, UW-Superior, UW-Parkside, UW-Whitewater, UW-Col leges and NormandaleCommunity Col lege offer participation in theWIS program to their students and facultymembers. Students can participate for eitherone semester, for the academic year, or for thesix-week summer program. Currently we have25 students studying at Dalkeith Palace, whichis situated in the grounds of Dalkeith Park.
