Freedom is

Not Free By Luis D Galvan Sr

Version

My name is Luis David Galvan

Sr I was born in Palito Blanco

Texas but my family moved to

Alice Texas when I was very

young

While picking cotton in the early

50rsquos as a young boy I remember

seeing very nice cars driving on

the highway and I would wonder

why I was here in the cotton

fields and where were all those

people going in the nice cars

I picked cotton until the early

60rsquos I would hear the older guys

say that the only way out of the

cotton fields was to join ldquoEl Ser-

viciordquo I would often wonder

what that meant

One week when I arrived at the

cotton fields all those guys were

not there I asked the ldquoTroquerordquo

on the where abouts of the guys

and he said they had gone to ldquoEl

Serviciordquo

When I became of age I joined

the Texas National Guard In two

years I became a platoon Ser-

geant Our company was Bravo

Co 2nd Bdge 141st Infantry

When the Vietnam War began

most of my friends were joining

the military or were being drafted

I felt I was being left behind and I

knew then that I had to do my

part to defend my country

I heard the call to war and I decided

to join the United States Marine

Corps I soon arrived at San Diego

Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San

Diego California After 6 months of

boot camp and infantry training I ar-

rived in DaNang Vietnam in 1968

On March 19 1969 while in opera-

tion Mead River Golf Co 7th Marine

Regiment made contact with the

136th NVA unit lasting 15 days At

the end we had 22 dead and 35

wounded I was on of the wounded

After recovering from my wounds I

returned to duty

On April 6 1969 a little over a year

after being wounded we went on Op-

eration Oklahoma Hills We walked

all night to our objective which was

ten miles away Making camp at al-

most day break I received a call on

my radio from the Captain All pla-

toon Sergeants were wanted for brief-

ing of the events for the day

On my way to the briefing I tripped a

booby trap and with luck it didnrsquot

explode but I remember hearing an

awful sound and feeling a tremendous

heat that burned my face hands and

stomach Three of us were seriously

injured That ended my tour in Vi-

etnam for me I was sent to Brooks

Medical in San Antonio Texas where

I spent the next three months recov-

ering from my severe burns After

that I spent the last of my enlistment

at Kaneohe Air Station in Onaho Ha-

waii

I came home with an honorable dis-

charge a Bronze Star Medal and two

Purple Hearts and a severe case of

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

I am glad and thankful to my Su-

preme Creator for bringing me back

so I could meet and marry my beauti-

ful wife of 37 years We have two

daughters and two sons

Home Remedies for Sore Muscles

1 For immediate relief as soon

as you strain your muscle

apply an ice pack--20

minutes on 20 minutes off

Heat although it might be

much more soothing than

ice shouldnrsquot be applied in

the first 24 to 36 hours after

injury

2 Soak in a warm bath with 2

cups of epsom salt or 2 cups

of white vinegar Pour the

vinegar or salt into the tub as

itrsquos filling and soak for 30

minutes Epsom salt contains

magnesium sulfate that helps

replace lost magnesium in

the body Vinegar helps

draws out lactic acid from

the sore muscles--a main cul-

prit of muscle soreness

3 Eat some bananas to boost

your potassium levels Mus-

cles stiffen and cramp up

when your body is low in

potassium Bananas are a

great source of potassium

Make sure to drink plenty of

water too

4 Massage helps stimulate

the blood flow in and

around the affected muscle

Therersquos no need to pay for

an expensive masseuse

Use your own hands and

gently rub the affected area

after applying an ice pack

soaking in the tub or ap-

plying the vinegar com-

press

5 Compresses soaked in ap-

ple cider vinegar should be

applied to the sore muscle

for 20 minutes Again

drawing out the lactic acid

is a great way to alleviate

soreness

All of these methods are easy to

use and offer no side effects For

severe muscle pain itrsquos best to

visit your doctor and act on his

recommendations

July 2012 Horoscope Aries

An interesting person of the opposite sex may shock you out of a yearrsquos

growth by making an frank suggestion concerning your love life This

could be flattering but the attraction mdash even if mutual mdash is not likely to

be lasting Accidents are in the air and you would be well advised to

postpone any lengthy trips until a later date Children could become a

larger feature in your life

Taurus

The signs are excellent now for you to enter upon a new venture particu-

larly one of a personal nature A friend from out of the past could come

to your aid quite unexpectedly and this could mean a financial windfall

to you Poor judgment of character could be expensive and all invest-

ments should be double-checked before the check is signed Spend some

time in personal contemplation

Gemini

Donrsquot let others get the upper hand through shyness or personal laziness

Make sure you have the ear of an important person who can say yes or

no with both speed and authority Love matters are in a flux now and you

should avoid any long-range commitments This does not rule out pleas-

ant interludes of a casual nature but even these should be examined for

pitfalls

Cancer Get out of that rut and become the catalyst of action rather than the recip-

ient You should spend some time now getting your personal and busi-

ness life in a more orderly state Opportunity for a sudden move or

change in your occupational area could come but you may need to move

with alacrity Whispered sweet nothings could come back to haunt you

Leo

A chance meeting with an old acquaintance could lead to a possible

change in careers or at least the offer of a better-paying job You could

also re-kindle a long-dormant romantic situation by being in the right

place at the right time Problems of a domestic nature can be avoided by

making sure that you are completely open and honest in all your dealings

with a mate or loved one Donrsquot wait on a phone call

Virgo

A pretended friend may be working against you in either a love situation

or in your career Be cautious that you give them no ammunition which

could be used against you either now or later A friend in need of gain-

ful employment would appreciate some help right now and this could

prove extremely valuable to you at a later time

Libra

Problems involving transportation could arise suddenly and this might

prove dangerous for some Discreet behavior at this time is a must and

any neglect of this warning could be disastrous for many eyes are fol-

lowing you now Be mannerly to superiors but do not allow yourself to

be shouted down if you know your answers are capable of solving a di-

lemma

Scorpio

An influential and highly successful person of mature years could devel-

op an interest in your welfare Care should be taken however to avoid

the appearance of humoring this person mdash or even catering to his wished

mdash as a certain amount of independence and integrity is what this person

is seeking Old loves may prove to be the best if you are forced to make

a choice

Sagittarius

Care should be taken now to avoid a misunderstanding with a romantic

Gemini A very casual feeling on your part could be mistaken for a seri-

ous commitment and could cause no end of trouble between you and an-

other Take time to plan a trip which will help get you away from the

hurly-burly and into a better frame of mind

Capricorn Venus figures strongly in your activities and could bring about a meeting

between you and a highly attractive Pisces This should be avoided if

you are already committed to a situation you desire to maintain Water in

all forms as a means of travel should be avoided now Gains made by

unethical means will not be long lasting

Aquarius You could be in for a busy social life in the immediate future causing

you to call on physical reserves you were not aware you owned Be cau-

tious in financial dealings with a pleasant and plausible stranger until

you check everything out in detail A business trip could prove disas-

trous unless you make sure that all minor details are handled with care

Growing pains may cause you to ache a little

Pisces An excellent move for you now would be to go ahead full force on that

long-delayed business idea You will never have a better chance of carry-

ing it to fruition as your powers of persuasion are nearing a peak A visit

to old haunts may cause you to reconsider a serious romantic decision A

telephone call that comes a bit late could be very helpful

Prayer for Guidance

O creator past all telling

you have appointed from the treasures of your wisdom

the hierarchies of angels

disposing them in wondrous order

above the bright heavens

and have so beautifully set out all parts of the universe

You we call the true fount of wisdom

and the noble origin of all things

Be pleased to shed

on the darkness of mind in which I was born

The twofold beam of your light

and warmth to dispel my ignorance and sin

You make eloquent the tongues of children

Then instruct my speech

and touch my lips with graciousness

Make me keen to understand quick to learn

able to remember

make me delicate to interpret and ready to speak

Guide my going in and going forward

lead home my going forth

You are true God and true man

and live for ever and ever

Freedom is

Not Free By Luis D Galvan Sr

Version

My name is Luis David Galvan

Sr I was born in Palito Blanco

Texas but my family moved to

Alice Texas when I was very

young

While picking cotton in the early

50rsquos as a young boy I remember

seeing very nice cars driving on

the highway and I would wonder

why I was here in the cotton

fields and where were all those

people going in the nice cars

I picked cotton until the early

60rsquos I would hear the older guys

say that the only way out of the

cotton fields was to join ldquoEl Ser-

viciordquo I would often wonder

what that meant

One week when I arrived at the

cotton fields all those guys were

not there I asked the ldquoTroquerordquo

on the where abouts of the guys

and he said they had gone to ldquoEl

Serviciordquo

When I became of age I joined

the Texas National Guard In two

years I became a platoon Ser-

geant Our company was Bravo

Co 2nd Bdge 141st Infantry

When the Vietnam War began

most of my friends were joining

the military or were being drafted

I felt I was being left behind and I

knew then that I had to do my

part to defend my country

I heard the call to war and I decided

to join the United States Marine

Corps I soon arrived at San Diego

Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San

Diego California After 6 months of

boot camp and infantry training I ar-

rived in DaNang Vietnam in 1968

On March 19 1969 while in opera-

tion Mead River Golf Co 7th Marine

Regiment made contact with the

136th NVA unit lasting 15 days At

the end we had 22 dead and 35

wounded I was on of the wounded

After recovering from my wounds I

returned to duty

On April 6 1969 a little over a year

after being wounded we went on Op-

eration Oklahoma Hills We walked

all night to our objective which was

ten miles away Making camp at al-

most day break I received a call on

my radio from the Captain All pla-

toon Sergeants were wanted for brief-

ing of the events for the day

On my way to the briefing I tripped a

booby trap and with luck it didnrsquot

explode but I remember hearing an

awful sound and feeling a tremendous

heat that burned my face hands and

stomach Three of us were seriously

injured That ended my tour in Vi-

etnam for me I was sent to Brooks

Medical in San Antonio Texas where

I spent the next three months recov-

ering from my severe burns After

that I spent the last of my enlistment

at Kaneohe Air Station in Onaho Ha-

waii

I came home with an honorable dis-

charge a Bronze Star Medal and two

Purple Hearts and a severe case of

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

I am glad and thankful to my Su-

preme Creator for bringing me back

so I could meet and marry my beauti-

ful wife of 37 years We have two

daughters and two sons

Home Remedies for Sore Muscles

1 For immediate relief as soon

as you strain your muscle

apply an ice pack--20

minutes on 20 minutes off

Heat although it might be

much more soothing than

ice shouldnrsquot be applied in

the first 24 to 36 hours after

injury

2 Soak in a warm bath with 2

cups of epsom salt or 2 cups

of white vinegar Pour the

vinegar or salt into the tub as

itrsquos filling and soak for 30

minutes Epsom salt contains

magnesium sulfate that helps

replace lost magnesium in

the body Vinegar helps

draws out lactic acid from

the sore muscles--a main cul-

prit of muscle soreness

3 Eat some bananas to boost

your potassium levels Mus-

cles stiffen and cramp up

when your body is low in

potassium Bananas are a

great source of potassium

Make sure to drink plenty of

water too

4 Massage helps stimulate

the blood flow in and

around the affected muscle

Therersquos no need to pay for

an expensive masseuse

Use your own hands and

gently rub the affected area

after applying an ice pack

soaking in the tub or ap-

plying the vinegar com-

press

5 Compresses soaked in ap-

ple cider vinegar should be

applied to the sore muscle

for 20 minutes Again

drawing out the lactic acid

is a great way to alleviate

soreness

All of these methods are easy to

use and offer no side effects For

severe muscle pain itrsquos best to

visit your doctor and act on his

recommendations

Guardian Angels guide us

they carry us they lead us and put

people in our paths to help us They

provide inspiration in the form of ide-

here to complete

We are born with angels al-

ready assigned to us At certain times

we may acquire other angels as we

develop a need for them They will

stay with us until the situation is

complete and we donrsquot need help

with that particular issue They may

come into our dreams to convey in-

formation or to help us work through

problems

Prayer for Guidance

O creator past all telling

you have appointed from the treasures of your wisdom

the hierarchies of angels

disposing them in wondrous order

above the bright heavens

and have so beautifully set out all parts of the universe

You we call the true fount of wisdom

and the noble origin of all things

Be pleased to shed

on the darkness of mind in which I was born

The twofold beam of your light

and warmth to dispel my ignorance and sin

You make eloquent the tongues of children

Then instruct my speech

and touch my lips with graciousness

Make me keen to understand quick to learn

able to remember

make me delicate to interpret and ready to speak

Guide my going in and going forward

lead home my going forth

You are true God and true man

and live for ever and ever

Guardian Angels guide us

they carry us they lead us and put

people in our paths to help us They

provide inspiration in the form of ide-

We are born with angels al-

ready assigned to us At certain times

we may acquire other angels as we

develop a need for them They will

stay with us until the situation is

complete and we donrsquot need help

with that particular issue They may

come into our dreams to convey in-

formation or to help us work through

Prayer for Guidance

O creator past all telling

you have appointed from the treasures of your wisdom

the hierarchies of angels

disposing them in wondrous order

above the bright heavens

and have so beautifully set out all parts of the universe

You we call the true fount of wisdom

and the noble origin of all things

Be pleased to shed

on the darkness of mind in which I was born

The twofold beam of your light

and warmth to dispel my ignorance and sin

You make eloquent the tongues of children

Then instruct my speech

and touch my lips with graciousness

Make me keen to understand quick to learn

able to remember

make me delicate to interpret and ready to speak

Guide my going in and going forward

lead home my going forth

You are true God and true man

and live for ever and ever

Guardian Angels guide us

they carry us they lead us and put

people in our paths to help us They

provide inspiration in the form of ide-

We are born with angels al-

we may acquire other angels as we

develop a need for them They will

stay with us until the situation is

complete and we donrsquot need help

with that particular issue They may

come into our dreams to convey in-
