About Atlantis
• Atlantis in greek mythology is an island of ancient and legendary culture.
• There is no hard proves about existing and location.
• First time Atlantis is mentioned by old greek phylosofer Plato, who says that Atlantis is destroyed by disaster, most probably by earthquake or flood.
• That was allegedly 9400 years before Plato.
Myth about Atlantis
• As a story in Plato´s dialogues, Atlantis is described as a myth which Plato created.
• Many people wonder if Plato had inspiration according to real event.
• About possible existing of Atlantis people discuss from ancient times, but that story was rejected then.

The Second Theory of Atlantis• Altough there are some conflicting
reports as to where Atlantis could be or has been, most researchers have concluded that Atlantis was located in the Atlantic Ocean.
• It was so huge, it streched from what is now the Gulf of Mexico trougt the Mediterranean.
• According to Edgar Cayce, who stated, ˝In area it can be compared with what is now Europe and Russia.
• The north and south poles did not occupy their present positions, nor were the land surfaces now existent then above water.
The Poseidon Theory• Over 11 000 years ago in the middle of
the Atlantic Ocean there was an island inhabited by great and wealthy people.
• Then greed started to take over them and they were obsessed with money.
• Poseidon, got mad at them for being obsessed with money.
• So he made the ocean cover the city of Atlantis and it was gone with the sea.
Thera/Crete = Atlantis?
• FOR• Advanced civilization • Ring – shape of the caldera • Hot and cold running water• Mountainous • Destroyed/drowned overnight• Bull – fighting• Elephants
• AGAINST• Not in the Atlantic • Too close to Greece/Egypt?• Too small (not a continent)• Not very fertile?
Platon´s theory
• Plato, Timaeus, Critias were written around 360 BC and those are first references about Atlantis.
• According to Plato, Atlantis was a big island, size as Libia and Asia together.
• It was in the opposite side of Straits of Heracles.
• It was a rich country which gave two harvests at year.

had a lot of gold.• The ruler was Atlant. He ruled with help of
ten emperors.• People were happy and rich until their
emperors made war with the rest of the world.
• Greeks were in the enemy army. Greeks won in a horrible battle.

chestnuts…• Water: canals, hot and cold running water• Race horses• Bull- fighting• Mountains – but also plains • A navy
Doom of Atlantis
• We can only speculate about the circumstances under which Atlantis disappeared.
• Some theoris suggest that there was a huge asteroid, others assume that Atlantis was doomed to sink because of a catastrophic earthquake together with volcanic eruptions.
• Some people think that big flood flooded Atlantis.
