Camera Work

1st shot- Tracking- Long Shot- moves in a tracking motion through the room which the character is located in. This is used as an establishing shot to introduce the audience to where the film isgoing to set.

2nd shot- The camera then Zooms and moves slightly changing the angle it is in changing the

shot in a gradual motion and pace this helps with continuity with match-on-action into the thirdshot. The match on action means that there is a flowing continuity rather than having severaldifferent shots cut together.

3rd shot- Over the shoulder shot- This lets the audience get a more detailed view at thecharacters features, this means that they gradually get introduced to the character first of all froma long shot previously and now they can see him from an angle over his shoulder his facialprofile, so that they can see his main facial features.

4th shot- shot- Zooms Out into a long over the shoulder shot, of the three characters looking atthe situation. This is almost like the audience are taking a step back slightly away from thesituation, it makes the audience see from the characters point of view the chaos and danger which is starting to unfold also because they are standing as a family with a little boy it makesyou feel empathy for them because little children are thought of as being vulnerable.

Low lighting- This type of lighting has been used in

the sequence this creates an eerie atmosphere

because the black connotes death in westerncountries which the film makers had in mind where

this film was going to be mainly distributed.

Natural lighting effects- Thunder and Lighting- This

creates and eerie atmosphere this is becausethunder and lighting is used commonly in horror

Ghostly figure – There is a ghostly figure of a

woman‟s face seen in the opening title sequence.

This is a common code and convention of a horror film. It creates tension because there is the

association with spirits and death with ghosts.
