MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Terre Haute North football program is to impact the lives of the student-athletes who participate in the program.  We want the boys who enter this program as freshmen, to leave when they are seniors, as young men ready to accept the challenges of life. Our student athletes will: 1. Earn a high school diploma, 2. represent themselves, family, teammates, coaches, and school with class on and off the field, and 3. learn to compete on and off the field.

INJURIES

THE NUMBER ONE WAY TO PREVENT INJURIES IS INVOLVEMENT IN OUR STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM.

If you are a football player you will be hurt during the course of a season.

To play in games you have to be able to practice hurt.

If you miss all week due to practice you will more than likely not play on Friday.

Hurt versus injured? Our player safety is our number one priority.

Page 15: The Mission of the Terre Haute North football program is to impact the lives of the student- athletes who participate in the program. We want the boys

INJURIES

If you are injured you are expected to be at every football function:  INJURIES ARE NOT AN EXCUSE TO MISS.  There will be something for you to do:  rehabilitation with our athletic training staff, mental reps, alternative conditioning. If you cannot attend practice inform the head coach.

Page 16: The Mission of the Terre Haute North football program is to impact the lives of the student- athletes who participate in the program. We want the boys

INJURIES

Injuries that result in an extended loss of practice time will more than likely result in loss of playing time or starting position.  Many times when an athlete is cleared there is  loss of conditioning, reaction time, strength, etc., or someone else has stepped up during that time.  If this seems unfair, put yourself in the position of the player who has worked just as hard, stepped it up, and is playing well.

Page 17: The Mission of the Terre Haute North football program is to impact the lives of the student- athletes who participate in the program. We want the boys

PLAYING TIME

Can you get the job done consistently better than your teammates?

No player owns a position.  All positions are constantly evaluated.

Players are placed where they will help the team and where the have the best chance to be successful.

PLAYING TIME

99.9% of all parents are emotionally unable to evaluate their son's athletic ability and they do not have the technical expertise to do so.

Parents do not have the ability to evaluate their son daily in the areas of work ethic, performance, and attitude.

You have to be able to run and like to hit! Your sons perspective???

PLAYING TIME PHILOSPHY

We will try to have 22 starters at the 9th grade JV, and varsity level.  Playing time will be based on the following criteria:  a)  they have practiced every day; b) they know the plays; c) they can consistently do their job better than others, d) great attitude and effort, and d) they can defend themselves.  The 3 C’s (commitment, character, consistency) are part of the evaluation process. This does not mean all playing time will be equal.

This will allow input from every party involved and prevent double talk.

This protects all parties involved. Playing time discussion will be kept to a

minimum-coaches call. Other players will not be discussed.
