VETERANS CARING FOR VETS - Friday afternoon Humboldt’s Tennessee State Veterans Home received a special treat from some loyal supporters. Word recently reached the area VFWs that the Vet-erans Home was in need of a popcorn machine and they set out to raise funds to secure that machine. In a joint effort, Milan VFW, Union City VFW, Ripley VFW and Humboldt VFW raised the funds for the machine and presented it to the Veterans Home. Scott Webb, who also volunteers at the home, said the groups are aware of the needs at the nursing home. Some things like a popcorn machine may seem small, but all are important, he added. “It is said, it is easy to sit and take notice. What is diffi cult is standing up and taking action. Today we are celebrating the fact that someone stood up,” Webb said.
