Funeral will be held Satur- day at 2:30 from Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church.. RANGE MRS. MARY ETTA WATSON of 113% NW 11th terrace died in Jackson Memorial Hospital. July 26 following an extended illness. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Adalie McDowell of the above address, her husband Johnnie of Valdosta, Ga.; one son, a grand- son and other relatives. Services were conducted on Tuesday, July 31 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Thedford Johnson of St. John Baptist Church officiated. Burial was conducted at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. DEACON GEORGE HEADING of 4680 NW 31st ave., died on the afternoon of July 27, two days following his admission ,to Jack- son Memorial Hospital. Deacon Heading had lived in the Brownsville area for many years, and was active in civic, fratern- al and church activities. He is survived by his widow, Katie, 3 sons, 3 daughters, and many other relatives. Services were conducted on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 3 pjn. at Antioch Baptist Church, Brownsville, Rev. Rich- ardson is the pastor. Rev. W. F. Tanner of St. Mary’s Church, Co- conut Grove officiated. The funeral was largely attended. Burial was conducted in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. JOHN ROBERT McGELL of 875 NW 12th st., Florida City, was •pronounced dead on arrival at Jackson Memorial Hospital on the evening of July 27. Survivors are his wife, Willie Ruth, five young children, his mother and other relatives. He will be taken Friday night to Concord, Ga. where final rites and burial will be conduct- ed on Sunlay. MRS. LIZZIE THOMAS of 1672 NW sth ave., was dead on arrival at Jackson Memorial Hospital on the morning of July 28. Her nearest survivor is Mrs. Georgetta Campbell of Browns- ville. Mrs. Thomas was a pioneer Miamian, and among the oldest members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Services were conduct- ed on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Graham officiat- ing. The nterment was conducted at Ever- green cemetery. MR. ULYSSES COVINGTON, vho resided at 611 NW Ist Ct. \pt. No. 1, died July 26, just one O) mile south of Islamorada on the Florida Keys a& a result of an utomobile accident. Mr. Coving- ton, a truck driver for the Nation- al Produce Co. was enroute to Key West with a shipment of vegetables when he became the victim of a freak accident. In th** several years of residency, he had become very well known in many circles and societies. The remains were transported to Fitzgerald Ga., Monday August 1, for funer- al rites and interment. His death is mourned by his wife, a brother and several other relatives and friends. MR. JACOB HARRIS PLUM- MER, JR., who lived at 6100 SW 62nd Terr. South Miami, wa? pronounced dead on arrival at the Dade County Hospital, July 29 after a rather speedy attempt tc the hospital by car proved futile Mr. Plummer had lived in the South Florida area for more than 33 years and had acquired num- erous friends and associates dur- ing that time. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in South Miami. He is survived by his wife, severa 1 children and a host of other re- latives and friends. Interment will take place at Lincoln Memoria 1 Park. MR. STANLEY BROWN, o* B & L Quarters, house No. 40 met his untimely death as the re- sult of a knife wound inflicted during an altercation. Mr. Browr was born in Naranja, and wa c very well known in that area Funeral arrangements are tenta- tively set for Monday August 6 alt 1:00 p.m. The locejtion wi 1 be heard over the local radio stations sometime during the lat- ter part of the week. Interment will, however be held at Ever- green memoral Park. THE TWIN’ DAUGHTERS of Barbara Scanes, who lives at 1916% NW sth Ct., were listed as stillborn on July 26, at Jack- son Memorial Hospital. The twin r were only 15 minutes apart Burial services will be conducted at Lincoln cemetery. MRS. ROSA SMITH a long time resident at 1767 Ist ct., died July 31 at Jackson Memoria’ Hospital. In whatever area or section he lived, he was known as a friend and counselor, es- pecially to young people. Mr. Ford was always self- employed. For a number of years he was a very successful tomato farmer, a ter he entered the real estate business in which he was also successful. He continued through the years to live a rich full and active life in civic acti- vities of the - community. For over forty years he was affiliated with Most Worshipful Union of Free and Accepted Masons, having attained the 32 degree, Star of the East Chapter No. 72 order of Eastern Star, Odd Fellows, Good Samaritans and the American Woodman. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. The end came quietly and peacefully Thursday afternoon. July 26th. after a very brief illness. He is survived by a daughter. Mrs. Chsrlotte Ford Clark, who is presently serving as a super- visor with Dade County School Board. She formerly served as Dean of Instruction at Bethune r 'ookman-College. a son-in-law O’Conner F. Clark; two gran'-’ sons, Robert B. Jr. and James M both sons of the late Dr. Robert B. Ford, a danghter-in-law, Mr* Mary Ford Williams, and a hos* of relatives and friends.
