The Messenger firsT bapTisT hunTsville this sunday knowing, loving, serving Christ...together FIRST THOUGHTS David Hull, Pastor Easter is a Sunday unlike any other Sunday during the year. The special celebration of the resurrection calls forth our best worship – and our largest crowds. Because this day is unlike any other day, we are trying something new this year on Easter Sunday. Let me explain what will be happening. We will have our worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. as we normally do. Sunday School will follow the regular schedule. Two new events will occur to enhance our Bible Study and worship offerings on that day. Easter Pastor’s Class – Most folks will want to attend their regular Sunday School classes on Easter. However, we realize that some people are not connected to a Sunday School class at this time. I will be teaching a one- time class in the Chapel that will be an Easter Bible study. This class is open to anyone who would like to come. Guests are welcome to join us for this class. If this class is something that you would like to try for Easter, I invite you to join me as we study the great Bible account of that first Easter. Additional Contemporary Worship Service – This year we add a third worship service to our schedule for Easter. Because of the crowded conditions in the Fellowship Hall on Easter and because we think that another service time may provide an opportunity for more people to worship with us on that special day, we will have a second contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Jeremy and the praise band will provide the musical worship leadership for the service. The sermon will be a video recording from the First Fellowship service that morning. Does this time work better for your family on Easter Sunday? Would you like to try contemporary worship at a later time? Do you know of people who would rather come to a service like this? Will you change from your pattern and invite them to come with you on Easter? All of these are options that lead us to offer this third worship experience on Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday is unlike any other Sunday during the year. We are opening new doors to welcome new people on Easter. Pass the word . . . make the invitation . . . and join us for Bible Study and worship on this great day in the morning. First thoughts David hull, Pastor

Easter is a sunday unlike any other sunday during the year. the special celebration of the resurrection calls forth our best worship – and our largest crowds. Because this day is unlike any other day, we are trying something new this year on Easter sunday. Let me explain what will be happening.

We will have our worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. as we normally do. sunday school will follow the regular schedule. two new events will

occur to enhance our Bible study and worship offerings on that day.

Easter Pastor’s Class – Most folks will want to attend their regular sunday school classes on Easter. however, we realize that some people are not connected to a sunday school class at this time. i will be teaching a one-time class in the Chapel that will be an Easter Bible study. this class is open to anyone who would like to come. guests are welcome to join us for this class. if this class is something that you would like to try for Easter, i invite you to join me as we study the great Bible account of that first Easter.

Easter sunday is unlike any other sunday during the year. We are opening new doors to welcome new people on Easter. Pass the word . . . make the invitation . . . and join us for Bible study and worship on this great day in the morning.

Airborne Sunday School ClassLen & Kennie Worlund, teachers

About 10 years ago FBC recognized a need for some kind of Sunday School class avail-able for those who cannot attend on Sunday mornings. FBC established a telephone conferencing ministry as part of the Experienced Adult Ministry. This class is available for home-bound, their caregivers, and for those whose life circumstances make it difficult to physically attend a Sunday School Bible Study. Many of these missed the fellowship and Bible Study provided in Sunday School.

Lillian Cochran, home-bound, declares, “This class is the high point of my week. I look forward to sharing and hearing the lesson in a class where poor eyesight is not a con-cern and then listening to FBC televised services”. Roland Griner is in assisted living and he is very enthusiastic about the class giving out Sunday School books and phone cards to people he comes in contact with, encouraging them to be a part of the class.

The class meets every Sunday morning by conference call from 9:30-10:00 a.m. For the first ten minutes members talk to each other about events of their week and share prayer requests. About 5 minutes is used for listening to music, CD or live, with an explanation about the author of the piece and details about the music. The lesson from Lifeway LIFE VENTURES (a Bible Study for retired adults) is presented for the next 12-15 minutes. Dr. Hull, Pastor, closes the conference call praying for each class member. Anyone wishing to be a part of the class should call the Experienced Adult Office (256-428-9403) for a toll free phone number and a passcode to call from cell phone or land lines.

The FBC Builders, led by our leader Mr. Gordon Perry, built a wheel chair ramp Friday and Saturday of the Serving the City weekend. The ramp recipient is a sweet lady (nicknamed “Cinda”) who within the last year has been diagnosed with ALS. With the disease progression she has lost the use of her legs and moves about in a wheel chair. She lives alone and has a sister who takes her to doctors appointments and grocery shopping. Each trip out of her home has required her to get out of her motorized wheel chair, crawl on her knees down four brick steps and with her sister’s help, climb from the ground into the car. And think of the reverse process after a long day of doctor visits.

About 5:30 p.m. Saturday we were privileged to watch Cinda with a big smile and big tears in her eyes, come out of her door, wheel herself safely down her new ramp and safely back up the ramp and into her home! Cinda was very grateful and tried to express to us the new freedom this gives her. She can now get her mail out of the box without help! Can you imagine being overwhelmed because you can now get your own mail!?

The FBC Builders average age is Ooooold. The tasks we do are always satisfying and fun. (What could be more fun than working with old timers who each know exactly how a job should be done and are very willing to share!? :). But, we don’t always get to see the happy benefactor of our labors like we did this time.

Hope you all had great STC experiences! Praise the Lord!!

But, we don’t always get to see the happy benefactor of our labors like we did this time.

Hope you all had great STC experiences! Praise the Lord!!
