History In 2005 First United Methodist Church recognized the need to upgrade and renovate its physical plant. Knowing the purpose of this project was to provide better facilities for the ministries and missions of our church, the project was called The Master’s Plan. In 2006 the first phase, the redesign of the chancel area and the refurbishing of the sanctuary was initiated. A call for pledges and gifts for this project was issued and the congregation responded. The first phase of this project was completed in 2007, and our first worship service in the newly upgraded sanctuary was held November 18, 2007. Part of the redesign of the Chancel area included the repair of the W. N. Sheats Window and moving it into the chancel area. This window honors Mr. Sheats who sold his horse to buy the bricks needed to finish the church sanctuary in 1886. This building is now our Fellowship Hall. Just as the window commemorates the gift W. N. Sheats made to the church, this book commemorates the donations given to The Master’s Plan. On these pages are listed the names of the members and friends of First United Methodist Church whose gifts made the completion of the first phase a reality.
