Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen® is available in both small granules (green filter cap) and large granules (red filter cap).

1. Holding Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen® firmly, tear off the protective seal (A) and unscrew the protection cap (B).

2. Do not remove the red/green filter cap from the Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen® at this point.

3. Place the filter cap into sterile saline solution or patient blood. Pull back and press down the plunger several times until the Geistlich Bio-Oss® granules are completely hydrated. Avoid compressing the granules. Alternatively, a syringe (not included) may be used to inject saline or blood directly through the filter cap.

4. Gently press the plunger to remove any excess fluid.

5. Replace the filter cap (A) with the curved applicator tip (B) and apply Geistlich Bio-Oss® directly to the surgical site.

Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen® with small granules is recommended for smaller bony defects. Small granules ensure optimal adhesion to the bony walls of the defect.

Lateral sinus floor elevation and large bony defects

Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen® with large granules is recommended for large ridge augmentation and sinus floor elevation procedures. Using Geistlich Bio-Oss® granules alone has been shown to be a highly effective and predictable treatment option for sinus floor elevation procedures.3,4,5

Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen®

CaUTION: Federal law restricts these devices to sale by or on the order of a dentist or physician.

Indications:Geistlich Bio-Oss®, Geistlich Bio-Oss Pen® and Geistlich Bio-Oss Collagen® are indicated for the following uses: Augmentation or reconstructive treatment of the alveolar ridge; Filling of periodontal defects; Filling of defects after root resection, apicoectomy, and cystectomy; Filling of extraction sockets to enhance preservation of the alveolar ridge; Elevation of the maxillary sinus floor; Filling of periodontal defects in conjunction with products intended for Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) and Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR); and Filling of peri-implant defects in conjunction with products intended for GBR. Warnings:Possible complications which may occur with any surgery include swelling at the surgical site, flap sloughing, bleeding, local inflammation, bone loss, infection or pain. As Geistlich Bio-Oss Collagen® contains collagen, in very rare circumstances cases of allergic reactions may occur.

Indications:Geistlich Bio-Gide® and Geistlich Bio-Gide® Perio are indicated for the following uses: Augmentation around implants placed in immediate and delayed extraction sockets; Localized ridge augmentation for later implantation; Alveolar ridge reconstruction for prosthetic treatment; Filling of bone defects after root resection, cystectomy, removal of retained teeth; GBR in dehiscence defects; and GTR procedures in periodontal defects. Warnings:As they are collagen products, allergic reactions may not be totally excluded. Possible complications which may occur with any surgery include swelling at the surgical site, flap sloughing, bleeding, dehiscence, hematoma, increased sensitivity and pain, bone loss, redness, and local inflammation.
