A Few Shared Thoughts

How can it be August already! Hopefully back to school for the kids! Looking forward to the beauti-ful weather to be able to have residents outside. We grilled some hamburgers and hot dogs in July! Yum! The residents really enjoyed the meals. The kitchen spoiled us and we had the full cookout expe-rience, potato salad, baked beans, s'mores dessert. Notice I said “we.” Myra Gehrig has joined us part-time in the activity department. She is still working in the kitchen too! Welcome Myra! She is very crafty and I know she will be an inspiration in our department. Also, the most important, Myra has a deep love and affection and commitment to our resi-dents! More good news, Cynthia Rasmussen will be com-ing to activities sometime in August. She is so full of fun and great ideas—it will be exciting to see what new ideas and programs she will bring to the table. We look forward to you joining us Cynthia! Don’t forget that activities has been given an IPAD. Just get ahold of the activities department and we help set up video calls so you can see your loved ones. If you don’t have an iphone, we can get apps, or video call on the icloud. Take care and be safe! Teri

Pioneer Manor is grateful for the beautiful coloring, painting books, and colored pencils we received for our residents. A special thank you to Mary Young from Gordon and other Sheridan Coun-try Contributors. Mary organized an art book event for the nurs-ing homes in Sheridan County. It began with collecting enough

books for Gordon Countryside Care, and then she received such a huge response they were able to provide books for all the care facilities in the county.

The residents have really been enjoying the books and pencils!!!

Thank you again to Mary Young and all the generous Sheridan County Community members. We appreciate your kindness!

The Covid-19 continues to be a bit of a roller coaster. Pioneer Manor Staff and Residents will all have to be tested for COVID-19. Our nursing staff has been trained and will facilitate the procedure. But today, as I write this we are back to communal dining and limited activities. We are still following the CDC’s or-ders of quarantine and keeping our residents safe; physically and mentally healthy. We will adjust as we have to in the month of August. So check out our Facebook page, or give a call to the office at 308 638-4483 and we can keep you informed of what the latest happenings are in the facility. Rest assured our administration is keeping abreast of all the changes. People can talk thru the windows again, and talk over the fence. You will have to call the facility and make an appointment then, all those who visit will have to be screened and wear a mask. The good news is that you can see your loved ones in person!

Residents have enjoyed being outside in the courtyard

when the weather allows. Virginia Johnson and Pat

Dorhorst have green thumbs and have been doing most of

weeding and watering of the plants—and as you know it

has been hot with little rain, so the girls have

been diligent at daily watering. Thank

you ladies for making our world beau-

tiful!

Sherry Erhman has recently stepped down from being on the Pioneer Manor Board after 16

years. She started when Mae DeCastro, Virgil Drabbels and Lloyd Hunzeker, to name a few

were on the Board. She went off the board when she became an employee for 4 years and gra-

ciously went back on the board. Sherry was instrumental in so many decisions for the good of

Pioneer and was President of the Board after Virgil Drabbels passed away. Sherry spent

hours and hours in meetings! Sherry thank you so much for the love and dedication you have

shown Pioneer Manor thru the years. We truly appreciate you! THANK YOU!!
