DESCRIPTION: A magnificent Grade II listed manor houseof noted historic importance situated in a peaceful rurallocation on a sleepy lane, bounded by fields, enjoyingfar-reaching views over natural farmland. This propertyhas been scrupulously maintained, is in first class order, with high ceilings, elegant décor. The Manor House wasconstructed in the 1680s and the setting is magical.Entered from a large forecourt with parking for numbersof cars, plenty of room for garaging if required, the mainentrance into the formal parterre front gardens with aseparate ancient gateway entrance from the lane. Thepresent owners have owned the property since 1986when we sold the property to them.

History: After the Civil War 1641-1651 and the death ofOliver Cromwell, Charles II was crowned in 1661 andLondon became swamped with a heaving mass of peopleand buildings. There was turmoil with spectacular wealthliving alongside grinding poverty. The original house wasbuilt, it is believed, by a colony of courageous Londoncitizens who set out from the capital in 1664 to find a newlife in the country. During the 18th century, Bix Manor wassignificantly added to and by the early 19th centurybecame a large and prestigious farm providing grain forthe thriving breweries of Henley. Farming ceased in the1960s and it was purchased by Gary Hall in 1986. Thedining room is probably the oldest part of the property, 30ftin length with its huge inglenook fireplace filling the wholeof the end wall. The sun-filled drawing room dates from the18th century and has views over different aspects of thegarden and the huge farmhouse kitchen, complete withAga, has up to date cooking and preparation facilities.
