can try to support this dream to

Introduction Happy New Year! We have had a wonderful Christmas and an
amazing start to 2020. We have enjoyed some fantastic adventures
out and many fun activities in the home, it has been great to see so
many residents and family members joining in all the fun. We have
started a new breakfast club that we will be running on the 1st
Tuesday of every month, we plan to visit lots of different places for
breakfast so be sure to keep up to date with where we are going.
LATEST NEWS We will be starting fresh
with the Magic moment’s
app! This is a great way to
keep up to date with
everything your family
have been up to.
Our annual Christmas visit from the
Salvation Army was a hit. It was a lovely
afternoon, we thoroughly enjoyed
reminiscing about the past, and it was a
fitting tribute to our residents who have
been affected by the war
For Pat’s birthday this year, her family
decided to pay tribute to her and what a
wonderful life she has lead so far. Her
granddaughter presented a slide show, sang
some songs and the whole family were there
to enjoy the day with Pat. It was lovely seeing
so many people turn up to pay tribute to Pat, it
was a great afternoon.

Fordcombe School Choir
What a great afternoon visit from the Fordcombe School Choir. It is
always a pleasure to have such beautiful singers and polite children
in our home. We loved hearing all the songs, old and new, and it was
lovely having some time to get to know the children after they had
finished their performance.
The children enjoyed a cup of juice and a biscuit while being able to
sit down and talk to many residents.

Christmas Party
Wow! I think this may have been our best Christmas party yet.
Everyone had so much fun playing games, being dressed up as a
Christmas trees and listening to some fantastic music by the
wonderful Roger Channing. The home had an aroma of mulled wine,
which I must say we all enjoyed too much.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the family member
who came along and joined in the fun

Our Caring Partners Program Oomph exercise is gentle specialist exercises that are based on expert
methodology, and we use reminiscent music and simple routines to deliver
physical and mental health benefits. We really have noticed a difference in
the people who like to join in. We all have lots of fun doing our routines and
genuinely find that the people who do not want to join in, find themselves
doing little bits here and there, they then choose to join in on the next oomph
session. Staff join in as they go about their work and this supports further
interaction for everyone to enjoy.
Activities with Oomph!
Our residents have been really enjoying our Oomph sessions and they all get
involved as well as staff and family members. It is so lovely to see everyone
joining in and the resident love having a laugh at the staff joining in.

telling you why,, our maintenance man is coming to town . Thank
you to our wonderful maintenance man Chris who once again was
a smashing father Chris-tmas, and with a little help from some elf’s
made some people in our home very happy with a small gift from
their Ashurst Park family. Chris was greeted with smiles and
laughter from everyone in the home

Happy 100th Birthday
Congratulations Mavis on you 100th birthday, you honestly don’t
look a day over 80 . Mavis had a wonderful day; she had so many
gifts the best of course being her telegram from the queen. Many
residents and team members came to shake her hand and extend
there congratulations on such a milestone, not many people can
say they have lived in two century’s.
Mavis celebrated the day with her family, who came from far and
wide to be with her. She enjoyed a cake made by our wonderful
chef that everyone loves and listening to us all sing happy birthday
(a bit off key)

What a better way to celebrate Elvis’s birthday than to have the
very man himself come for a performance
Everyone enjoyed singing along and bopping to the music, we
have some real Elvis fans in the home it was wonderful to see their
faces light up at the sight of Elvis dressed up to the nines and
shaking his hips
Elvis’s Birthday
Did you know? In 1947, a local radio show offered a young Elvis
(age 12) a change to sing live on air, but he was too shy to go on

My love of dance started as soon as I could walk. Apparently, I liked nothing
better than dancing in front of the TV or as soon as I heard any music,
I would immediately move to the beat. At the age of three, I attended ballet
and loved it so much that I also started tap, modern, jazz and musical theatre
at a local dance school.
I loved dancing and performing in local shows, many happy memories were
spent with wonderful friends. At the age of 16, I continued to train at
Chichester College and completed a BTEC Diploma in Dance gaining a
distinction. After college, I was offered a place at Performers College in
Essex where I studied Performing Arts.
It was soon after this I decided I wanted to become a dance teacher and
combine my love of dance with aspiring others to dance. To gain teaching
experience I completed various courses including Exercise to
Music/Aerobics Instructor courses and taught at various local gyms.
My time at Aerodance has involved teaching fun dance routines to children
age 2 years up to adults. I am now very happy to be launching Studio N
Dance and I am extremely excited for the future.

Song of the month
Auld Lang syne by Dougie MacLean
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp!
and surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary foot,
sin auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl'd i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
sin auld lang syne.
And there's a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie's a hand o' thine!
And…
And there's a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.
(Chorus)

Promise by Jackie Jay
Remember, the time of year
When the future appears
Like a blank sheet of paper
A clean calendar, a new chance.
On thick white snow
You vow fresh footprints
Then watch them go
With the wind’s hearty gust.
Fill your glass. Here’s tae us. Promises
Made to be broken, made to last
