ALTERNATIVES GO MAINSTREAM

Although institutional investors have spearheaded the growth of alternatives and continue to increase their allocations, the industry is maturing, suggesting that allocations may not grow as rapidly in the future as they have in the past. A new investors’ segment is emerging driven by family offices and HNWI individuals who are moving to absolute-return investing and embracing alternative strategies for the same reasons institutional investors have that is hedge against major downturns and bridge the gap between actual and targeted returns given actual market conditions.
