WELCOME to everyone, especially our guests.
Your presence is important to us.
St. Paul’s is an evangelical Christian
congregation, embracing historic Christian
teaching on all doctrines, centered on Jesus
Christ. Our desire is to bring the Gospel both
to those who are searching for answers to the
meaning of life and to those who desire a
closer relationship with God. We here at St.
Paul's have chosen to align ourselves with the
teachings of the Lutheran Reformation, due
to the clarity with which these help us to see
the true meaning of God's Word.
Specifically, St. Paul's is a ministry of the
Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod, one of
America's truly biblical churches!
• Members and guests: please fill out an
attendance card and place it in the
offering plate to indicate your presence
today. For Holy Communion, please read
our confession and indicate your
agreement with our beliefs by checking
the box next to the names of those
communing.
• Those sharing our beliefs, especially from
parishes in fellowship with us, are
welcome to receive.
• If you desire Holy Communion but hold a
confession differing from that of this
congregation, please speak with a Pastor
or an Elder.
• Non-communing, baptized children are
welcome to come to the table for a
blessing.
Please note: Half the inner circle of individual
glasses in each tray contains water with one
drop of communion wine for those hesitant to
drink larger amounts of wine. Those glasses
with wine are rose in color. 2

BOARD OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
“Christmas is special because Jesus was born on that day,” declares Abbie, a St. Paul’s sec-
ond grader. Annalee adds, “[Christmas] means it was God’s birthday and that we should
celebrate Christmas to show that God was born.” Second graders know the “reason for the
season.” “Christmas is joyful, peaceful…and Jesus’ birthday,” states Madeline. And like
other St. Paul’s students, they know that “Christmas is special because God died for us,”
says Hannah. “Jesus was born for my sins and I want to thank Him for dying for me,” adds
Jacob. Mason writes that he “cares about Jesus more than presents. I like to have hot co-
coa.” And Michael writes “Christmas … it’s like my whole entire life. It is my favorite day
of the year.” Let us rejoice in this most special time of the year. We wish you a blessed
Christmas.

St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, School, and Kinder Place has a multifaceted ministry.
There are many members, friends, and guests that come to St. Paul’s as an active part of these ministries at various hours and days of the week.
In light of the tragedy in Connecticut on December 14, 2012, we wish to remind everyone of our school/Kinder Place policy in regard to security. Our “Emergency Response Plan” (ERP) has been in affect for several years. The school and Kinder Place are secured daily when in session. Thus, anyone, entering to conduct business/work/meetings at St. Paul’s, must sign in and out at the church/school office before they can enter the areas occupied by students and staff. They are asked to stay within their group or activity and refrain from loitering in other areas of the church/school. This also applies to our “Before and After School Care” programs. This is designed to provide the safest possible environment for our children and staff. Safety procedures and drills are practiced on a regular basis from “Fire Drills” to “Lock Downs”.
The staff has been trained and directed to take immediate action when necessary to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Your cooperation in following this ERP is deeply appreciated.

5 Then let us now draw near,
Washed in that precious flood
And enter the Most Holy Place
By Jesus’ blood.
From hearts that are sincere,
Let tongues our hope profess,
And trust anew God’s faithful grace
That we confess.
6 All praise to Christ we bring,
Our Lord who intercedes,
Our great High Priest enthroned above
Who knows our needs;
And to the Father sing
Our songs of thankful praise,
Who with the Spirit reigns in love
For endless days.

FOURTH SUNDAY IN ADVENT
Micah 5:2–5a But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little
to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall
come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose origin is from of old, from ancient days.
Therefore he shall give them up until the time
when she who is in labor has given birth; then the
rest of his brothers shall return to the people of
Israel. And he shall stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the
name of the LORD his God. And they shall dwell
secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the
earth. And he shall be their peace. When the
Assyrian comes into our land and treads in our
palaces, then we will raise against him seven
shepherds and eight princes of men;
Hebrews 10:5–10 Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he
said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not
desired, but a body have you prepared for me; in
burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken
no pleasure. Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to
do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the
scroll of the book.’” When he said above, “You
have neither desired nor taken pleasure in
sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin
offerings” (these are offered according to the law),
then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your
will.” He abolishes the first in order to establish the
second. And by that will we have been sanctified
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ
once for all.
Luke 1:39–45 In those days Mary arose and went with haste into
the hill country, to a town in Judah, and she
entered the house of Zechariah and greeted
Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting
of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And
Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and she
exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among
women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And
why is this granted to me that the mother of my
Lord should come to me? For behold, when the
sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby
in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who
believed that there would be a fulfillment of what
was spoken to her from the Lord.”
