BOARD MEETING 6:30 PM REGULAR MEETING 7:OO PM Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, alternating between the Adorni Center in Eureka 1011 Waterfront Drive, in odd numbered months and at The Clubhouse at The Meadows, 2520-90 Hubbard Lane, Eureka in even numbered months. No meeting in December. I want to send a huge thank you to all the folks who helped with the Agility Trials and Barn Hunt or ran dogs in the trials or both. It takes a major effort each year, but I heard lots of positive comments which make it all worth it. The biggest scent work trial our club has ever offered is coming up soon, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 13-15. There are quite a few entries already; however, the trial is not closed and there is still room to enter. We have been in touch with all four of our judges and they all seem to be looking forward to the event. The scent work committee will be meeting on Sunday, August 25th. It will start with a practice with the meeting to follow. Cathy will be sending out practice and meeting details. Everyone is welcome to attend. This will be a very busy trial, so we can use all the help we can get. You don’t need to do scent work to pitch in and help. We have two other items that occur in October. One is our annual membership dinner. Be thinking of a restaurant that has room for about 30 people. The other item for October is a list of nominees for 2020 club officers and board members. We will need to create a nominating committee in September, nominations will close in Octo- ber, and the election will be held in November. Let us know if you would like to be on the nominating committee and/or if you would like to run for an office or board position. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at The Meadows on August 20th.

From Beverly Morgan Lewis:

.

Well, we did it again. I'm so proud of our small but mighty and talented all-breed club forputting on another spectacular 4-day agility trial and 3-day barn hunt. Once again, we rolledup our sleeves and put forth our best effort to make it a fun and satisfying event. I think ourjudges did a great job. Lots of folks stepped up to help. Marlene Jurkovich was a championChief Course Builder as we lost 2 course builders and she filled in with some very willingfill-ins along with Jon and Tricia Morgan. Debra St Myers was my right hand in making sureeverything else happened the way it was supposed to.And huge kudos to our president, Jill Otto, who doesn't even do agility but was there all dayeveryday to staff the awards, merchandise and raffle tables and did anything else that neededto be done.

I hope everyone will come back next year to do it all again!!!!

Minutes of the Last Meeting: MSAC to approve as published.

Report of the Treasurer: Patty reported on our assets and distributed the Profit and Loss report (see attached). Estimates only, as things are still com-

ing in from the shows.

Unfinished Business: Charitable Trust issue – Jill said there has been no word from the state, so things should be progressing in straightening out

our status. Sound System Speakers – They did not work out well at the show; we need a contact person to work with tech support.

Cathy volunteered. Breed show superintendent record retention – We will keep them for one year, even though AKC only requires 6 months.

One year we had a question come in after we threw them away. They will be stored in the shed at the fairgrounds, in a filebox.

Lifetime membership – We should be thinking about criteria for this; bring suggestions to the next meeting. Fairgrounds sponsorship opportunity – Criteria has changed. Donors of $500 get in the fair brochure, and fair tickets. We

will suggest it to the membership.

New Business: FastCAT – It made money and got a good report from the AKC rep. Next year electronic timers will be required. Discussion

about cost. Recommendation to bring it before the members. One problem was brought up – FCAT requires a lot of volun-teers, which takes some away from the breed and obedience shows.

The Board meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.

Present: All of the above plus Joan Carpenter, Beverly Chang, Bill Clauson, Marilyn Cottrell, Pamlyn Milsap, Beverly Morgan Lew-is, and guest Nolan Milsap.

Report of the Treasurer: Patty reported on our assets. Final show and trial numbers are not in, but we did make money. (See at-tached.) A member asked how to have input in hiring judges and creating a major. She was advised to work with the breed club to geta judges name and suggest it to the LCKC committee, and work with the breed club to get a supported entry.

down. Also need people to help the course builders with changes. The entries are down 16%, partially due to the Nation-als being in the East. Next year should be better. Barn Hunt: Cathy needs a helper; Sara will inquire about who isavailable. Straw comes tomorrow (Wednesday). Discussion of bathrooms at the fairgrounds.

Scent Work: Deb said the contract with the Fairgrounds needs to be signed and the fee paid. She wants to do a raffle.MSAC to approve $100 for Scent Work raffle items. Entries open tomorrow, judges are arranged, get your entries insoon!

B-Ob Shows/Rally/FCAT: Kathy Pavlich has offered to donate a redwood burl. Discussion about what to use it for, pos-sibly for the BIS/HIT display. We will go back to add NOHS BIS to the list in the catalog. Discussion of how to respondto the feedback list from MB-F. Raffle – discussion of handling receipts for the raffle. Thanks to Marilyn running theraffle and for donating money to it. Cathy said the CCC kids were terrific helpers, the anthem singing worked well andsounded great, the set up lunch worked well, the bathrooms were much cleaner this year, and the lawns were shortenough. We need better signage and info for unloading. There should only be 2 people responsible for everything to dowith trophies. Hospitality was good; hotels worked out, feeding the judges worked, transportation was handled. Therewere scheduling problems due to what the judges could do; we are looking at how to do it better. PayPal worked great, but the sound system needs tech support. Obedience (not Rally) loses money; we need to look at ways to adjust. Weneed better liaison with Coos KC for advertising. Discussion of next year’s show dates, because Saturday is July 4. Ti-na said the judges cost more, but their travel costs were less. She reported that Savvy Dog gift cards, offered as prizes, did not get mailed, but will be. She needs a few addresses; will contact MB-F. Beverly Chang suggested that as soon asthe contract is signed, book judges’ flights or send them to a travel agency. She asked the Secretary to send thank-yousto the judges, stewards, and people who let us put signs on their property. 2020: Beverly ML said Lancashire Heelersneed more Judges’ Education to progress to the next step of AKC recognition. She will offer one, and wants to get itscheduled for next year. Cathy said the 2020 Judging Panel already has 6 lined up: Dana Cline, Paula and Roger Harting-er, Kimberly Meredith Cavanaugh, Vince Mulligan, and Gay Dunlap. She took some other names. FastCAT: Beth re-ported on the first FastCATs (Fast Coursing Ability Test) we have offered. It’s a non-competitive timed speed dash. TheAKC rep was there and gave us a good report. Lots of good volunteers. Lots of learning took place during the first test, but everything went well after that. We need more signage for the Fun Runs. Had to work out some of the runs for dogsin the Groups. The lure operator may not be able to come next year. Starting next year, electronic timers will be re-quired. That will free up some volunteers. Cost is about $1400, which is less than the tests made this year. Motionmade (Cathy) and seconded (Sara) to buy timing equipment for FastCAT, up to $1700. Motion will be voted on atthe next meeting. There were 180 runs total.

Election of New Members: no applications

Unfinished Business: none

New Business: Fair brochure – MSAC to donate at the Blue Ribbon level ($500) to get on the brochure. Annual dinner – be thinking of where. We’ve been spending too much, so need to decide how to cut costs.

Announcements: Beverly Chang has organized a herding clinic, to be held August 3rd and 4th. It is full, but auditing is available for$35.
