Root & Branch Award Winners
The Root & Branch Award was set up by the Club in 2014 to mark its Centenary.
AS this year’s winner the Judging Panel selected anoutstandingLiverymanforhisworkininspiringyoungpeoplebyopeninguptheworldofworkandcareers
intheCityofLondon.
The Panel also awarded a Highly Commended prize to aLiverymanwhohasorganisedthetraditionalsheepdriveacrossLondon Bridge to highlight the Livery and raise funds for charity.
Theawardswerepresentedat theClub’sannualCivicLunchin Drapers’ Hall on 2nd July by the Representative Lord Mayor AldermanSirAndrewParmley.
Award Winner Liveryman Reg Brown, is a Liveryman of the WorshipfulCompanyofInsurers.
YoucanreadReg’sviewoftheAwardbelow.
The strong field of nominations this year led to a Highly CommendedAwardtoLiverymanBillClark,PastMasteroftheWorshipfulCompanyofWoolmen.
Bill introduced an annual sheep drive over London Bridge for FreemenoftheCityofLondon.
DrawingontheurbanmyththatFreemenoftheCityofLondoncan take their sheep over London Bridge, Bill saw that thiscould become a reality and it would re-establish an historicCity tradition and raise funds for charity. It involves endlesshours of preparation and the use of Bill’s unique set of skills in managementandIT,aswellashisknowledgeoftheCityCivicand an ability to collaborate and encourage many to volunteer and participate.
He has also worked on many other new initiatives for theWoolmen, editing their magazine and spearheading entries in theLordMayor’sShowaswellassupportingmanyagriculturalshows.HeisaveryworthyLiverymantoberecognisedinthisway.
