Midweek MovieThe Midweek Movie for Wednesday, September

7, is Shall We Dance with Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez, and Susan Sarandon. John Clark is a meek workaholic who feels trapped in a dull, mind numb-ing existence. But one night, his whole life changes when the sight of a beautiful dance instructor inspires him to break out of his macadamia mold and sign-up for ballroom dancing lessons! Now, he’ll have to step lightly—and do some fancy footwork—if he ex-pects to keep his exciting new passion a secret from his family and friends. Rated PG-13 for some sexual references and brief language. This 1996 video is 1 hour and 46 minutes long and will be shown at 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel.

Dick Rydberg will play organ music on Tuesday, September 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Elevator Lobby. In-dulge yourself in a relaxing evening of musical enjoyment!

Choice Hearing SolutionsCome to the Hobby Room on Wednesday, Sep-

tember 14, at 9:30 a.m. for a Hearing Clinic from Choice Hearing Solutions. This company will offer their services on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Customer service and quality of life are just a couple of the goals of this company. They offer Video Otos-copy (used to check for ear wax); ear wax removal; hearing screenings, hearing aid cleaning, minor hearing aid repairs, and one complimentary pack-age of hibiscus hearing aid batteries. They also offer individual consultations and in-home hearing testing should the need arise. Call (727) 576-6160.

Piano Music by KendreaCome to the Elevator Lobby on Monday, Sep-

tember 5, at 6:00 p.m. to hear Kendrea Kappel play familiar hymns, and tunes. Don’t miss out on this musical journey!

September’s Floor MeetingsResident Floor Meetings for all floors will be

Wii Bowling LeagueThe Wii Bowling league is starting on Monday,

September 19. Please stop by the Hobby Room any-time between Friday, September 2, and Wednesday, September 14, to pick up your Wii Bowling League schedule. We have twenty teams for our Wii bowling leagues and we will reserve time for the teams to play in the Club Room, Hobby Room, and Village Room. Our group runs on a nine week cycle so no team is making a long term commitment. At the end of the nine week period, team scores are calculated and a playoff tournament takes place between the top three highest scoring teams. The winners of the playoffs become the champions. There will be a charge of $1 per person to play in the league. Jean LaRoche, Apt. 414, and Barbara Bowman, Apt. 624, are col-lecting the $1 fee. We have alternates in case a team or team member cannot bowl or make up their sched-uled game. The Tiki Wii playoff game with the three highest scoring teams will be held on Monday, December 12, at 1:45 p.m. in the Club Room.

Attention experienced line dancers: We are fortunate to have Kathryn Hall, one of our Resi-dents, as our line dancing instruc-tor. Dance! Dance! Dance! with

Kathryn (for experienced dancers) is held on Tues-days (with the exception of the 2nd Tuesday) between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the Elevator Lobby.

Line dancing is a fun and easy way to stay healthy. Join the next Dance! Dance! Dance! on Tuesday, September 6. Experienced dancers and observers are all welcome.

Dinner at Cheddar’s Scratch KitchenThe next dinner outing will be to Cheddar’s

Scratch Kitchen in Clearwater on Wednesday, Sep-tember 14. Dinner will be “on your own”. The bus will leave at 3:20 p.m.

Cheddar’s food is simple, honest, natural ingre-dients, and made from scratch recipes, handcrafted with care and time. This is how their food gets its start—it’s also how Cheddar’s got their start back in 1979. Founders, Aubrey Good and Doug Rogers, be-lieved that when a meal is prepared and cooked fresh just for you, it not only tastes better, it makes you feel good. Of course this takes time, that’s why their chefs start slow-cooked meats early in the morning and they’re constantly chopping, whisking, sauté-ing, and stirring, so they’re ready to serve whenever you’re ready to eat. This explains why they have twice as many cooks as other restaurants! If inter-ested, please sign-up in the Administration Office.

Florida Orchestra ‘Coffee Concerts’William Abbey from the Florida Orchestra will

be here on Thursday, September 8, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. He will talk about the “Coffee Concerts” at Ruth Eckerd Hall and will sign up anyone who may be interested at that time.

es. Attendees will also enjoy pre-concert conversations in the Hall one hour before

curtain call to learn more about the orchestra’s musi-cians, music, and composers featured in the program.

The Village bus will depart at 9:15 a.m. on the days of the shows and will head to Ruth Eckerd Hall. After the concerts, the bus will pick up at the drop off location at 12:15 p.m. If you would like transporta-tion to the concerts and want to sit together with your friends from St. Mark Village, you will need to sign-up and pay for all four concerts in the Administration Office no later than Thursday, September 22. The reduced rate for all four concerts is $93 which will be non-refundable after Tuesday, September 27.

The Lively Mark Challenge

Congratulations to the following winners from last week’s issue: Barbara Bowman, Apt. 624; Althea Flint, Apt. 366; and Len Storz, Apt. 526.

This week’s theme is: “Luau”. Your challenge is to find the six hidden words listed below. Good luck and happy hunting!

Honor Our WWII Vets DaySave the Date!On September 20, four of our own WWII Veter-

ans will be flying to Washington DC on the Honor Flight for a day of remembrance and celebration. We will keep them in our thoughts and hearts as they view the Memorials erected to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives to protect our freedom. Here at home, we will also remember and celebrate. We will have a full day planned, devoted to WWII and the 1940s.

We will start with a morning Movie Marathon, followed in the afternoon by line dancing with our own Kathryn Hall and some jitterbug fun with the Arthur Murray dancers. Next, some WWII Trivia with Ellen. Then Dick Ryberg will entertain us with patriotic tunes on the organ.

At 7:00 p.m., ZAZU Productions will provide entertainment with a 1940s theme. At 8:00 p.m., we will serve after dinner wines, Irish coffee, cider, and light bites—both sweet and savory. We will then try to keep each other awake, so that we can wave our flags and welcome our boys home!

To honor our Veterans here at St. Mark Village, we have a request. Please sign up on the bulletin board with your name, rank, and serial number (only kidding), but your name, branch of service, and years served. We have quite a comprehensive list already, but we know we don’t have all the names of the brave men and women who served. If you would be so kind, please provide a picture of yourself in uniform if possible. We are also looking for any me-mentos of the war years that you might be willing to share with your fellow Residents. Any questions can be directed to Carla at ext. 1763, Ellen at ext. 1743, or Lisa at ext. 1754.
