King George County thanks Timothy Smith and Lt. Monty Clift for their many contributions to help make our community a better place to live, and congratulates both of them as they celebrate their retirement. We wishe Tim, Lt. Monty, and their families the very best as they embark on this new chapter of their lives.
The King George Sheriff’s Office celebrated the upcoming retirement of Lt. Monty Clift who has faithfully served the citizens of King George County for 32 years. During his time with King George Sheriff's Office, Lt. Clift, pictured with his family, served in Patrol Division as a K-9 Officer and rose through the ranks to become Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigations Division. Lt. Clift is highly respected by not only our staff but by the citizens he served and will be truly missed.
Submitted by: Sgt. Kecia Wharton
Congratulations to Tim on his retirement as Director of King George County’s Parks and Recreation Department effective November 1, 2018. Tim has a wealth of past experience which started with the Youth Conservation Corps in 1978. He concluded his 40 years of public service, with the past 12 years being dedicated to serving the citizens of King George County (KGCo). He's overseen more than $3.2 million worth of capital projects for county residents, including the design of the Sealston Sports Complex and development of Cedell Brooks Jr. Park.
Tim developed and nurtured key relationships with KGCo School Board, Dahlgren Navy Support Facility, local service organizations, individual citizens, and the County’s regional partners. Heather Hall Zoning Administrator
Heather Hall was granted the 2018 Certified Zoning Official (CZO) Award at the annual fall conference of the Virginia Association of Zoning Officials (VAZO) in September. She is a hard worker, dedicated and customer service oriented. Her extensive knowledge of the local zoning ordinances and associated codes/regulations, and applicable local, state and federal laws qualified her for this merit. She recently attained her certification as Zoning Administrator (CZA) through VAZO. Heather has worked diligently since she joined the Community Development Department. She began her career 13 years ago as a Permit Technician and has been promoted several times until she reached the title of Zoning Administrator. Heather is certified CZA and CZO, and serves as Administrator for the following programs: the Storm Water Mgt. Program, the Erosion and Sediment Control Program, and for the Chesapeake Bay Protection Act. Her expertise and experience coupled with her strong desire to succeed will drive her to do great things for her department and the citizens of this county. King George County congratulates our esteemed colleague on her accomplishment! Keep up the excellent job, Heather!

Last year the King George County Board of Supervisors created the Making a Difference Award to recognize individuals who have had an impact on others through exemplary performance commitment to King George County, its citizens, staff and community. Three awards are given annually. Two awards will be dedicated to King George personnel (1-County, 1-Service Authority) and one award to a King George Citizen.
To be considered candidates had to meet established criteria. All nominations were collected by Human Resources and presented to a committee for final selection. Names and Departments were removed during the selection process. The winners were presented with a certificate, a cap, and a trophy at the Awards ceremony in the Holiday luncheon on December 12, 2018.
