The day long function by BISWA was agged off from the Rayagada Railway Station. Red Ribbons were tied up and posters from OSACS were distributed among the Railway ofcials, passengers, civilians and others in the Railway station premises. In this connection, TI (Targeted Intervention) Unit of BISWA Rayagada supported by OSACS-TSU Care India organized a meeting at the conference Hall of Hotel Jyoti mahal , Rayag ada. Amo ng others, around 100 SHG women members, 25 Media Habitat for Humanity (HfH), India trust works basically for housing for poor & homeless & arranges exclusively house building loan as its gesture of hand together. This is what disclosed by Mr. Arun Durairaj, Assistant Manager Programmes, Habitat for humanity, India Trust, while he paid a visit to BISWA on 12 th December 2008. He was addressing a gathering of BISWA staff at its BTI Conference Hall. He further added that we admit sweat equity as contribution of our beneficiaries & believe in the concept of home as a part of there ownership. The designs of such homes are made as per the need of the community and water supplies with sanitation are added as additional support, which is introduced recently. The meetin g was presided by Mr. K.C.Malick, Chairman, BISWA. Initially he briefed on the prole and functions of BISWA. He said that house building activity would be a new feather on our cap and it would boost our efforts for social development. We have identied so far 25 lakh potential beneciaries, who do not have good homes of their own to live. The main activity of micro nance HfH Visits BISWA A 3 days Review Programme of Partner NGOs was conducted by Basic Needs India (BNI) at BISWA from 14th to 16th December, 2008. Mr. Subrat Mishra, Programme Coordinator of BNI met representa-tives from NGOs like VIKAS, OVA, CHETNA, DAPTA, RARE, OLS & BISWA in it as participants. One the first day soon after the formal inaugural session, the main discussion took place on database on differently able person and particularly on mentally ill persons. Ten mentally ill persons with their caretakers were arranged there by BISWA for case studies. The participants were divided into 3 groups and discussed in detail with the ill persons & their caretakers. The part ici pants were also made to present their quarterly reports of Basic Needs India along with their action plans & strategy for counseling the patients their risks. Ms.Bani Mahapatra & Ms.Sarita Mahapatra represented BISWA and participated in it. BNI Reviews NGOs Continued ... The meeting started with the welcome address by Mr. K.Gouri Shankar with requesting Mr. M.Rajendra Patra to preside over the function. Th en Mr. Pa tra introduced the guests. At the outset, a lamp was lighted by the guests and BISWA ofcials as the ritual of inauguration. Mr. D.Mahanta, Secretary IRCS, Raygada District shared his experience of his association with the AIDS Research Project. He said that HIV is a virus but AIDS is the disease.
