Historically , how have the Chinese viewed Vietnam?

• As inferior, but this was a typical Chinese view towards anything outside the “ Middle Kingdom”.

• In 950 A.D., the Vietnamese drive out the Chinese and establish the Dai Viet, or independent greater Vietnam.

the Emperor was not absolute, but was to rule with wisdom and compassion.
