E R’s MESSAGE Dear Brother and Sister Elks, So the queson, as I am wring this leer, is will we ever have a completely sunny weekend again? It’s been a bit damp on weekends lately; especially on Sundays. I think you’ll hear a trend during this leer. On May 5th, the lodge did a ‘Spring Cleaning ‘ from 9-Noon. Turn was about 10 people; 2 of who weren’t members. During this me, we loaded and removed the scrap metal that had been behind the fence, policed the grounds (including in the brush) for trash, raked the grounds around the pavilion, power washed the pavilion floor, removed the tree under the kitchen fans, and scrubbed the men’s and women’s bathrooms in the lounge. On May 6th we were scheduled to hold the lodge’s you soccer shoot. However, due to the weather, we have rescheduled to Saturday, June 16th at 11am. This will be held on the lodge’s grounds. On the wet night of May 11th, we held an ‘aſter-prom’ party for the ICC students. We had 40 students aend, plus the principal, some faculty and police officers. I believe everyone had a good me. It appeared that pool and shuffleboard were hits, as the last student leſt at 2:30 am. There was music, dancing and acvies provided. Food this me was hot dogs, burgers, pizza, wings, fresh fruit, cookies, and pastries. Thanks so much to the volunteers that assisted with this funcon. Then on that weekend we cooked chickens for the veterans event held at the Kinderhook Rod and Gun club and had a pavilion rental. The weekend of May 19th had the Miracle Run on a very wet 19th and a pavilion rental for a party on the 20th. Considering the weather, there was a good turnout for the Miracle League event. For Memorial weekend, we are scheduled to march in the Town parade; hopefully the weather will be good. This year the parade is in the village of Kinderhook; with setup at 9 and step-off at 10am. Then on May31st, it is off to Rochester for the New York State Elks Associaon’s (NYSEA) convenon, which ends June 3rd. For June, we will have a month just as busy. Within the newsleer, the acvies, along with the menus, are listed on the calendar, however here are the items: D.A.R.E. awards ceremony and picnic on Friday, June 1st at ICC Alex’s Lemonade stand during the OK5K, Saturday June 9th; the Elk’s adopted program to fight Childhood Cancer On June 10th is our Flag Day ceremony at 3pm Veteran Commiee’s fishing excursion with veterans from Stafford is Jun 19th Annual Yard/Tag sale is Friday, June 15th noon- 5pm, Saturday, June 16th 8am to 6pm and Sunday, June 17th 8am to 2pm Youth Soccer Shoot on 10am Saturday, June 16th Kinderhook Elks Chicken BBQ Dinner, in the pavilion; Saturday, June 16th, from 2:30 to 6pm; Tickets are $10 pre-sale and $12 at the door; Open to the public June 23rd, the Homecoming for District Deputy Rick Belcher in Red Hook/Rhinebeck Lodge May you all have a wonderful (and dry) month. E R’s MESSAGE

Dear Brother and Sister Elks, So the question, as I am writing this letter, is will we ever have a completely sunny weekend again? It’s been a bit damp on weekends lately; especially on Sundays. I think you’ll hear a trend during this letter. On May 5th, the lodge did a ‘Spring Cleaning ‘ from 9-Noon. Turn was about 10 people; 2 of who weren’t members. During this time, we loaded and removed the scrap metal that had been behind the fence, policed the grounds (including in the brush) for trash, raked the grounds around the pavilion, power washed the pavilion floor, removed the tree under the kitchen fans, and scrubbed the men’s and women’s bathrooms in the lounge. On May 6th we were scheduled to hold the lodge’s you soccer shoot. However, due to the weather, we have rescheduled to Saturday, June 16th at 11am. This will be held on the lodge’s grounds. On the wet night of May 11th, we held an ‘after-prom’ party for the ICC students. We had 40 students attend, plus the principal, some faculty and police officers. I believe everyone had a good time. It appeared that pool and shuffleboard were hits, as the last student left at 2:30 am. There was music, dancing and activities provided. Food this time was hot dogs, burgers, pizza, wings, fresh fruit, cookies, and pastries. Thanks so much to the volunteers that assisted with this function.
