Q.3B: Does the coordinator try his/her best to treat all students with equality? Please specify:

Negative comments:

I feel that the coordinator does not treat all the LEADers fairly: does not give all of them the

same attention. that is only my feeling however she is nice to all of us

The way she gives me her feedback about things I ask her about it, is not the same way she gives

to some specific people.

When I need her, even if it's urgent, ""I must take appointment via e-mail first, but sometimes

she accepts another people to come in to the office and talk without appointments and they

take long time discussing issues not only 5 or 10 minutes, but more".

biased to women and supporters of women rights

"I think both Sulaf taha and Huda Mosa are doing their best. However there are some students

who feel inequality in the treatment of the coordinator"

She treats some students better than others because she loves them more as they always visit

her office.

She tries her best, but still you can feel it when she favorites some students, and speaks with

them more friendly. However, I don't think she does this when grading or anything.

Positive comments:

She treats all of us fairly and provides help any time we need. I feel she is like our mother.

She tries to have individual meetings with all students who are not willing to create a personal

relationship with her.

She tries to set meetings with all the students if they need help...............

The coordinator treats all students equally, nonetheless many of our requests that we have

been asking for through the whole semester have not been fulfilled and I feel like this is the

coordinator's job to take our requests to the high board and to do her best in achieving the

things that we need.

Though our coordinator is Christian, she treats all of us the same way. I have never felt any kind

of discrimination is the way she treats any of the students, including me

Through mutual understanding and dialogue we all participate equally in the decision making

process.

We all have equal chances, we're all treated in a very fair way

We are all different, and though our coordinator is Christian and most of us are Muslims and not

Egyptians, she still treats us very well and offers help all the time. I have never felt any

discrimination in her acts towards us in any way

General comments:

Don't know for sure

Q. 7: Please suggest any areas for improvement:

1. Conference planning and execution

2. change vouchers system

3. clarify the objectives of the program more"

4. I suggest that we do more round table discussions and internships which has to do with improving the

situation in the MENA.

5. * More feedback from us

* A space of freedom. Actually, it is not only the coordinator's fault, but the whole system. I think we

should go on, experiment this atmosphere, and face everything. What is going on is that we are gathered

for every small detail which, in my opinion, isolates us and hinders us from better communication."

6. Decrease the number of meetings and try to treat all of us equally.

7. There are many things that we as MEPI students can achieve if we work together with the available

resources, but we do not do so at all. This semester we didn't have a project and we didn't do many round

table discussions or trainings, although I do not like the round table discussions because I find them

useless. I believe that we have so much potential and that we can be making radical change in the society,

and we have been discussing this with our coordinator. Also many issues that we brought to the

coordinator and to the other heads such as the LPI, we have been discussing them in meetings,

nevertheless we do not see any real change and I feel like the meetings are pointless and repetitive since

we have already discussed what it that we do not like about the LPI is. Another issue that I have been

bringing to the coordinator since the beginning of the semester but we have not been giving any feedback

is the money, the 400dollars that we get monthly is not enough to survive in a community such as AUC,

and knowing that most of us live in the New campus which is far away from everything we spend a lot of

money on transportation because although there are buses they do not operate all the time.

8. I would like for our demands to be understood and for us to be given a chance to express what we want

and to see real change, we have been chosen to be the leaders of tomorrow but inside our program we

are not allowed to do so."

9. I think, if she is gonna treat some people as her close friends, she should do it outside the office...or she

treats all of us as her close friends, accepts us anytime in her office, accepts our phone calls to her

anytime, accepts us being late "without excuses" sometimes as it happens with some people but others

10. Leadership, Negotiation, Communication.

11. find my coordinator an administrative assistant to do the administrative work and the coordinator to have

more time for coaching instead of doing official work

12. I've heard that some people are suggesting the exchange of coordinators; I strongly disagree with this

suggestion for several reasons. The most important one is I DO NOT WANT my coordinator Sarah El.

Nashar to be replaced with any other coordinator as she's very helpful, lovely and she's the only one that

would understand us and give us the correct feedback and the support we need.

13. maybe more roundtables and workshops

14. I think that I need a more constructive feedback about our activities and developing personalities

15. I believe she should ask more for feedback on her performance

Section V

Page 33: The LEAD/MEPI Students Feedback Survey Report · intends to use the survey findings to improve their program. In December 8, 2011 the Office of Institutional Research, emailed survey

Page 33 The Office of Institutional Research/AUC

16. Our coordinator is really good, can't think of anything

17. removal of the LPI because to be honest i think if each of us concentrated on his/her own vision that

would be much more efficient than our scattered efforts in community service clubs that may or may not

be part of the final vision of the student and after all time is money.

18. Giving more training to coordinators about different fields and how they should deal with the student’s

issues.......

19. The interaction between our cohorts is very law. I mean we do not see each other very often unless we

have a roundtable discussion or such a thing. However we should have more work to do together even if

they were home assignments or group projects, so that we get to interact with each other.

20. The way finances are handled: more commitment to MEPI's financial problems (not the stipend but other

things such as refunds, mistakes in the payments handled by the Accounting Office)

Assistance with course registration: inexistent. A very important aspect that needs to be looked at"

Q.8: Other comments:

Negative Comment:

When she asks us to be on time ""arriving on time""... I think she has to let us leave on time as well, but

what always happens is that we start on time , but we ""never ever"" leave on time ...she always takes, at

least, extra one hour and half.

- Sometimes, she cannot handle the session and cannot stop some people from talking and

fighting together during the meetings which waste our time! ...and it's not our sin to carry their

faults and stay extra OBLIGATORY time

- Finally, about the retreat, most of us "including me for sure" ignoring the idea of travelling 25

hours ""toward and backward from"" Aswan by train, although we are taking the budget of two

retreats in one. Plus, when we talked to her about that in a meeting, she didn't solve the problem

and she did what she already decided to do before the meeting.

The rule of the coordinator is not only to grade us, but to also tell us ways of improvement and opening

our minds to other diverse activities we could do

I have to say that the fact that many of the LEAD events are mandatory isn't a good idea, especially that

many of them are simply pointless and completely useless

Positive Comments:

I really respect my coordinator and I'm lucky to have her :)

My coordinator, Janine, is so professional, she understands very well what she has to do and she does it

the right way. If it was not for her, I, myself, would not be in my position now. She succeeded to be a role

model for most of our cohort.

General comments:

We want to evaluate other LEAD crew on top of them Ms Sohair Saad.

Because of the increasing costs of living, I believe that achieving the goals that mepis are required to

realize is a hard task especially with the low monthly allowance that we are receiving.

I feel overloaded by the lead requirements. I want to go on both AUC's academic life and AUC'S activities

by myself.

"LEAD 8 students want to change vouchers system and take cash money instead.

Thanks"

Nothing

I had some problems when I was studying abroad.

Taking our academic load into consideration when designing MEPI activities for the semester because

some of us have a vision of going into academia in the future and of course academic performance

matters.
