The Lebanese American University (LAU) is one of the oldest educational establishments in Lebanon. Chartered in the state of New York, we have headquarters and academic center in Manhattan and two campuses in Lebanon.
We are one of the top-rated universities in the Middle East and boast seven distinct schools, and a number of institutes and centers of advanced study. Our 8,500-plus students and hundreds of faculty and staff are among the brightest in the region.
LAU is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
All of our faculty members are distinguished in their fields, both academically and professionally, and offer students a wealth of knowledge and experience.
“At LAU, you pursue an education that is second to none.”
As an LAU student, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art technology, facilities and libraries unavailable elsewhere in the region, as well as research opportunities with faculty and their partners at institutions across the globe.
Our Mission
The Lebanese American University is committed to academic excellence, student centeredness, civic engagement, the advancement of scholarship, the education of the whole person, and the formation of leaders in a diverse and changing world.
Joseph G. Jabbra, President

As an LAU student, you will benefit greatly from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. NECHE is the regional accrediting association in the United States developing and regularly reviewing standards for educational institutions of all levels.
• Ease in transferring creditsto and from other institutions
• Greater chance ofacceptance to othergraduate schools
• Increased employability
While LAU is fully accredited, we have sought out additional accreditation for individual programs from leading institutions to ensure students receive the strongest educational package possible.
The Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) is officially recognized by the French government, which allows its graduates to practice in France and the European Union. In addition, the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), the organization in charge of accrediting architecture programs in the United States, has formally granted the professional degree of Bachelor of Architecture initial candidacy. The NAAB accreditation process is due to be completed by Spring 2020.
Our undergraduate and graduate programs at the Adnan Kassar School of Business are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).The programs are:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Studies
BS in Economics
BS in Hospitality and Tourism Management
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)
Master in Human Resources Management
The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in Computer Science at LAU is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
UNIVERSITY-WIDEACCREDITATION
The Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degrees in Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nursing at the Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
The School of Pharmacy is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Also, the LAU School of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is the only one outside the United States that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). By virtue of this, the school ensures excellence in pharmacy education and our PharmD graduates are eligible for licensure as pharmacists in most US states and provinces.

With nearly 78 nationalities represented on LAU’s campuses, the Office of International Services provides support for international students, helping them integrate into the culture on campus and outside the university’s gates. In addition, we hold annual events
such as Heritage Day, International Education Week and the International Students’ Athletics Tournament to shine a light on
the different backgrounds represented on campus.
Students looking to study abroad have access to programs, scholarships and official connections worldwide. Through our agreements with more than 50 institutions across the
