What does “love” mean
●There is not a correct definition of love: everyone has his own concept of love.● The word “love” comes from Germanic words meaning “to care, to desire”.
●Generally● Love is an intense emotion of affection and regard towards a person.
● Love could be physical or emotional attraction.● Love is a deep feeling, the strongest bond between two persons.
Why it's difficult to express love
Love is a deep felling, difficult to express: why?●It is hard to show off feelings, exposing oneself.●When you're in love you feel confused and overfilled by feelings.
●It's is hard to understand what you're supposed to win someone's love.
●It is hard to find the words to express what you feel.
Love and poetry
●The language of love is a poetical language.●This is why it's so difficult.
● The language of love is made of:–Emotion–Difficult words–Figures of speech
●The theme of love is one of the most debated and developed themes in poetry.● Love is the strongest feeling and everybody loves: a lot of material to discuss.
● Everyone has his own idea of what love is.
The language of love in the Renaissance
●Love in the Renaissance● It's far from the catholic concept of love.● Reevaluation of sexual and physical attraction.
●Romeo and Juliet:● They come from contrasting families.● Even so they fall in love.● Romeo's court is made of metaphors and figures of speech.● Romeo's purpose is to raise his lover, comparing her to a divine being.
Romeo and Juliet: love at first sight
●Love at first sight is a debated notion. ●At the beginning of the drama Romeo's love is mere physical attraction: he's in love but he does not know his lover.● True love is not only based on physical appearance. ● First sight attraction exists, but love is deeper.
●Love is the moving force of the drama and guides the characters since the first sight.
Love nowadays
●Nowadays the language of love is shallow.●Love is not poetry: language of love is made of short and easy texts.
● Love remains: it's still the deep feeling it was in the Renaissance.● We feel the same but we don't own a poetical language to express what we feel.
● Love is even more difficult to express
Innovation in the language of love
●There is no innovation in the language of love●The language of love of today is poor, made of short messages.● Use of SMS to communicate.● The youngest generation is loosing the ability to speak well.
●This way love seems to be superficial too.● The regression of the language of love debase the concept of love itself.
