Principal’s Update: Hello, my name is Miss Moree’ and today, January
29,2016, I was the principal of the day at Laguna middle
school. In the beginning I got welcomed with a hot cup
of cocoa. Then I welcomed students in the morning. I
also got to have keys to every door in the whole school.
My friends Jada Rhine, and Zari Ramos helped me in the
morning walk around the campus to see classrooms. I
liked to look at classes to see if they are doing well, and
if students are doing what they are supposed to do. I
found out, this is a good school.
Now I know you are asking how I became this. In the
Derby Days auction my mom bid on this and paid a lot
of money for this to happen. I hope that I’ll see you at
the auction next year! I think this school is cool and I
think that I wish that I could be a principal here for the
rest of the year. Thank you for this opportunity, Mom. I
love you.
Sincerely,
Gigi Moree’

them strive for personal change in their lives.
We were fortunate enough to have Keith speak with our students in 2014 and
was so great, we couldn’t wait to get him back! His message of responsibility,
what it means to be a good friend, and how to make a difference in the world
resonated with our students.
He’ll be presenting to our students this Friday, Feb. 5, but we have a special
evening just for parents before our students get to hear him.
Your kids will be talking about him the next day and his message is so
much more powerful if parents have heard it, too! Thank you to Laguna
Leadership and the PTA for bringing Keith to our school.

Mr. Nett’s and Ms. Stephen’s science classes have been
studying plant and animal respiration and are extending their
learning by planning a trip to Mars! Students are using the
information they have learned to hypothesize how they could
create a biosystem on Mars. Perhaps someday soon, students
will have the opportunity to make this activity a reality!
Thank you to all the students who came out to our
night dance last week. As always, a great time was
had by all. We are appreciative of all the parents
who came out to help!

Good luck to our Mock Trial Team! They compete this Saturday at the Courthouse in
SLO at 1:15. The public is welcome. I guarantee you will be impressed with the level of
professionalism our students show when they are presenting a case. It’s worth the time
on your Saturday. Go Lancers!
Mrs. Lincoln’s 7th grade social studies classes spent the week presenting information
they had learned about Japan. Student creativity was evident in the models, videos, art,
and food they used as visual aids. The students were obviously passionate about their
projects and beautifully combined their learning with entertaining presentations. Be sure
to check out this link to their work, or come on by the library to see their work
displayed.
