We understand how challenging this has been for our residents, guests and family members. We are committed to keeping your loved ones safe and to keeping you informed. As we mentioned last week, the state of Florida is mandating that all staff entering a long-term care or an assisted living facility be tested every two weeks for COVID-19. This mandate is effective July 7. On that date and until further notice, anyone entering our buildings will need to have a documented negative test result every two weeks. Unfortunately, our state officials still have not identified a date for when visitation might resume in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the roll out of the window visitsthat were announced last week. To ensure we can provide the best experi- ence possible for you and your loved ones, we will begin scheduling those at designated times. Both window visits and video calls can be scheduled by calling (904) 990-6186 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., or by sending an email to [email protected] anytime. In addition to the window visits and virtual calls, the following is always available: Status updates: The assigned nurse will communicate directly with you if there is any change in the condition of your loved one. Care plan meetings: These are available via phone and scheduled by a member of our team. We are still evaluating the feasibility of drive through visits, but they are currently on hold while we while we implement the window visits. We also want you to know that our weekly communications along with a schedule of our monthly activities and our menus are available on the Bartram Crossing, Bartram Lakes and University Crossing websites. We also encourage you to follow our social media channels for photos and information. Brooks Rehabilitation is on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. Bartram Lakes is also on Facebook. As we continue to follow all AHCA, DOH and CMS regulations, please be assured that residents and staff safety is our number one priority. Thank you for your support and patience as we continue to be flexible and responsive to

in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the roll out of

the “window visits” that were announced last week. To ensure we can provide the best experi-

ence possible for you and your loved ones, we will begin scheduling those at designated times.

Thank you for your flexibility as our style of service has been changing in order to keep everyone safe and healthy. I know it is disappointing for some can-cellations, but we will kick-off more dining events as soon as we can! We are working to keep some special menus going to replace some favorite action sta-tions. Thank you for your continued support with our survey-style food committee meetings, we value your feedback and are using it for our new menu planning! In the meantime, we have the following ice cream flavors available to order: But-ter Pecan, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, and Orange Sher-bet. If you have any requests or suggestions, please reach out to any of the dining managers.

If you have any requests or suggestions, please reach out to any of the dining managers or call the following extensions: X53067 (Main Kitchen), X53060 (Director), X53061 (Managers).

Shout out to Carrie from Tina Marvin: She was one of the few people that really knew my dad and what he needed when he was declining. She paid attention and remembered the important things about his care. She has great instinct and knowledge. She also has qualities that can't be taught. She genuinely cares about the Elders. She would bring my dad pancakes for breakfast and pimento cheese sandwiches for lunch (his favorites). It's remembering things like this that make a difference. I believe that during this time of quarantine and Covid 19 where the families aren't able to visit their loved ones, that it's how our Nurses and caregivers are stepping up and going above and beyond for our loved ones. Carrie is a perfect example of that. She's washing my step mom's hair and curling it for her. I had no idea until I called to check on her one day and was told that Carrie was washing her hair. When I asked Carrie if I could bring something for her to curl her hair, she said she had already taken care of that. My step mom used to get her hair done every week when the Salon was open, so that's always been very important to her even at the age of 95! Carrie thought of this on her own because she knows how important it is to my step mom. She stepped up on her own without being asked. That's the kind of person I want taking care of my step mom. It helps when I can't visit to know that the people around her are who she is familiar with and care about her. Carrie also remembers her likes and dislikes. She takes the time to make sure she gets her diet cokes when she wants one. Shout out to Neece Stancil from Richard Siska: Neece is a wonderful, thoughtful lady who has the abil-ity to juggle multiple tasks and make them work easily. She treats everyone like a king or queen and has the ability to fill the needs of all elders. Neece is friendly, smart as a whip, flexible, focused and knows the needs of all before they ask! She has a friendly personality, an interest in people and a wide base of knowledge, as well as a great smile. I am blessed to call her my friend.
