OUR STORYWe love the Lake District. We’ve been caring for this beautiful place for over 24 years to raise funds from visitors and the tourism industry. You might remember us as Nurture Lakeland but we relaunched as The Lake District Foundation in 2017.

We are passionate about inspiring people to look after this spectacular landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage for future generations.

Our approach to achieving this vision is by raising funds and giving out funds to e� ective projects that share our goals.

We want to inspire businesses, visitors and other donors to support projects and programmes of work across the Lake District.

RECENTLY FUNDED PROJECTS Your donations support e� ective projects, organisations and programmes of work that help keep the landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Lake District and Cumbria special. Here’s a few examples:

ADOPT A BECK The project will improve the habitat of Dash Beck for a range of wildlife, particularly salmon and trout, and improve the safety and accessibility of the footpath from Bassenthwaite village to the lake.

FIX THE FELLSFix the Fells use specialist techniques, rangers and volunteers to repair and maintain the extensive network of upland paths across the Lake District for future generations to enjoy.

HAWESWATER WOODLAND PLANTING PROJECTLocal volunteers will help plant 400 individually protected native trees on a carefully selected area of Mardale Common, extending the existing ancient woodland and contributing to the resilience of the iconic Lake District landscape, as older trees are lost.

COMMUNITY HERITAGEThe project will deliver a series of community workshops throughout Cumbria & the Lake District which will help residents understand and take ownership of the Cultural Heritage of the Lake District World Heritage Site.
