REMEMBER

would like to take this time to remember those who lives were taken in 2012. The least of these are the ones I am referring to. The newsstands baring People Magazine, Time Magazine, and all of the other media outlets flooded the market with pictures and captions of failure famous faces like Whitney Houston and Donna Summers and others who graced the covers of their maga-zines. But I want to remember the little boy who had a dream of one day being a fireman, or the little girl who had her heart set on graduating and going to college to become a doctor. I may never forget Anne Marie Murphy—a teacher, a friend, wife and mother—who was found dead lying over the several children in her classroom. She sacrificed her life to shield her students from the raging bullets that had no name. In addition to her heroism, we remember the names of those in which contact was made. Let us take the time to remember the ones who may have been sitting in their classrooms watching the clock anticipating when the bell would ring so they could go outside for recess and play with their classmates. Or the friends sharing stories while swinging on the swings and showing off their youthful and energetic persona while climbing effortlessly on the monkey bars. Tragedy came in like a raging storm taking away the smiles that were painted upon the face of innocent children and replacing them with confusion, fear and screams that can still be heard even when all seems to be still and silent. Remember how during the holidays most of us were in the malls shopping trying to find the perfect gift for our children or loved ones. Yet there were families in Newtown Connecticut who instead of wrapping gifts had to purchase caskets and make funeral arrangements. All while asking the questions: Why did it have to be my child? Why did this have to happen to us? We may never know the pain or sorrow that the families may be feeling or the questions that constantly fill their minds causing grief to consume them like a never ending story. Let us not forget the little angels that left us too soon. Each time you kiss or hug your children, remember them. When you pass a school or see a teacher in their classroom, remember them. Times when you hear the laughter of children on the playground or see those standing at the bus stop waiting to go to school, remember them. Let us pray that we will never have to experience that type of tragedy, insanity nor murder that was inflicted upon those who had no thought of that day being their last day of life as we know it. I dedicate this magazine to the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School of Newton, Connecticut; making a promise that we will not forget. After reading this article I ask that you take a moment of silence in honor and reverence of the ones who faces and names will always ring loud in the hearts and mind of those that they left behind.

The Kingdom Magazine had the privilege to sit down and catch up with Ms. Lexi Allen. Most of us know her from her television show “The Lexi Show” or maybe even the radio. We got to get to know the Lexi that everyone has been won-dering about. The first question asked was who is Lexi Allen? Lexi stated first after being a child of God she is a mother. We were able to get a little back ground and part of her story and how she made it through some of the darkest times in her life. Starting with her roots Lexi grew up Singing in her grandfa-ther’s church, she knew and understood that singing and giving praise to God was what she was created to do. Lexi has been singing all her life. She once even had the passion for acting during her undergraduate matri-culation at Bowling Green State University where she majored in Interpersonal Communications and minoring in Theatre. Lexi’s love for singing allowed her to sing background with some of music’s greats; Gerald LeVert, Fred Hammond, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Lexi later realized her own destiny and dreams; she started her own musical ministry. Lexi met and married Michael Allen, a music producer. Unfortunately, the marriage soon ended with the untimely death of her husband Michael. Though this was a difficult time Lexi still had their son, but without her husband, without focus, and without direction she found herself los-ing her passion for music. Lexi was reminded that indeed she was not alone. The same God that watched over her through the years would and still is the same God that would bring her through her storm. Even though Lexi had lost her passion for music but God impregnated her with another passion in televi-sion and media. Lexi has had the privilege to interview many great men and women but when asked about the different people that she would love to interview she stated that she’s not big on the names that you see on the grand marque but that she would rather hear a person’s story that you may never otherwise hear. Lexi eventually returned to her first love and passion which was music. Along with several musical projects she just released her latest CD Phenomenal with her hit single “Burn It All Down”. Lexi said that this CD she was just trying to get back to the basics. “The Lexi Show” has been picked up again on the Word Network every Saturday at Noon EST, she can also be heard on the Yolanda Adams Morning Show every Friday at 9:25am EST. MOORE

6 www.thekingdommagazine.net

Dr. Addis Moore is the senior pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, MI and has been for the past 18 years; a pastor that is commit-ted to preaching and teaching the word of God. Dr. Moore was licensed to preach in 1991 and ordained in January of 1992. He received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Saint Thomas Christian College in Jack-sonville, Florida; a degree in Business Administration from Albany State University, Albany, Georgia; and a Bachelor of Religious Education from United Theo-logical Seminary, Monroe, Louisiana. Pastor Moore is a pillar in the community, a strong face and voice that has reached out to those in need in the inner city of Kalamazoo and surround-ing areas. Pastor Moore stands firm on the slogan that Mt. Zion Baptist Church is known for-- “We are the Church.”

The Kingdom Magazine was able to catch up with Pastor Moore and talk with him about how he continues to make a change and impact not only his ministry but the community as well. Pastor Moore shared that his passion is to see people lives changed for the greater good. “It is time that we understand that it is no longer about a church service or a ministry that you attend but it’s about the Kingdom and being Kingdom minded.” Pastor Moore stated that Mt. Zion is on a quest to become the best church for the com-munity— not the best church in the community. Pastor Moore is very active in his community and expresses the importance of making sure that you reach out from beyond the four walls of the church and minister to those who may not be able to make it to the sanctuary or may feel like they don’t fit or even belong in a minis-try. He believes that the church should transform the

community. Pastor Moore has led Mt. Zion to open two new businesses, The Living Well Fitness Center and the Mt. Zion Bookstore. The Living Well Fitness Center was opened to change the physical health of the community and economically change lives. Pastor Moore and Mt. Zion fight combat childhood obesity by focusing on healthy children and to get them mov-ing. They have also started a 5-K run to help promote exercise and good health. The Mt. Zion Bookstore supports the Christian Education Ministry and promotes reading which is another one of Pastor Moore’s passions. Pastor Moore along with his son Rev. Christopher Moore (also his Assistant Pastor) wrote a book called “A Biblical Model for Christian Education—Teaching Methods of Jesus”. Moore believes that through Christian Education you learn who you are in Christ as well as your purpose in life. He realizes that unless people are trained in the word of God, people cannot live the word of God and actually grow God’s Kingdom. How does Pastor Moore go about doing all these wonderful things for the Kingdom? By simply doing what Jesus did which was ‘by love and kindness have I drawn thee’. Keeping in mind that God is able to do above all one can ask and think, one of Moore’s famous sayings is “ If God can’t do more than we can

expect then it probably wasn’t God.” Pastor Moore has been recognized for his community service by Ujima Enterprises and Western Michigan University Office of Diversity and Inclusions with the Award of Sankofa for Outstanding Commu-nity Service in June 2011. He was also recognized by the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch NAACP with the Humanitarian Award in November 2011. Pastor Moore is married to Gwendolyn L. Moore; they are the proud parents of two sons, Michael and Christopher, and one daughter, Veeta Perry. Both sons are ministers of Mt. Zion and work alongside their father in the ministry. To purchase your copy of “A Biblical Model for Christian Education—Teaching Methods of Jesus” and to check out what Pastor Moore and the Mt. Zion fam-ily has planned for 2013 please visit their website: www.mtzionkalamazoo.org. We would like to thank Pastor Moore for taking the time out of his busy schedule to sit and share his passion for ministry and his vision for the community with us. Kalamazoo truly has been blessed to have such an awesome and inspirational person as Pastor Addis Moore in our lives and we are excited about the great things that are taking place in the Kalamazoo Metropolitan area! God bless you and we thank you for all that you do for the kingdom!

From a distance her heart is troubled, causing her to have a weakened soul. Decreeing and declaring the debrief, damaged; a form of residue, let alone the proof. Silent because silence is the answer the distance has questioned. Not in touch with her inner beauty, because the distance has torn her heart ugly.

Trying to justify the distance between her journeys. What good is her alibi if she can’t discover it’s time? Living in another dimension, intervention to chasing restoration.

From a distance she’s weak, broken, and lost. Her inner thoughts can’t calculate her dreams of pursuing. In her mind she multiplied her victory the distance carries, but it wasn’t for glory. From afar she’s hurt, held captive because of rape. So now she’s locked, is this a forum for debating?

From a distance she’s weak from being abused, broken from being used, lost not found because no one taught her how to come out. From a distance they judge her, they don’t love her; so in her heart she holds scars to themaximum, but no one sees her alerts. If she understood the importance of love, life after being torn she would know that there is a Man waiting on the throne.

SingleSaved Waiting

“Father, why am I not married yet…What’s wrong with me”? “God when is my Boaz/Esther coming”? “Lord, I am trying to wait on you to send me my king, but waiting is getting hard!” Do any of these statements sound familiar? I am sure the previous statements are thoughts that many single and saved women have asked at one point and time in life. Being a single and saved woman myself, I can say that I am guilty of asking God at least one of these questions. There is a difference between being a woman and being a woman of God. A woman, one who does not have a relationship with God, may not fully understand that she has to wait on God to bring her the man of her dreams. Because of that, she may elect to date around, exposing herself to being heartbroken numerous times until she finds Mr. Right—if she finds him. A woman of God, on the other hand, understands that it is not her re-sponsibility to go out searching for Mr. Right. It is her job to live a fulfilled life in God while preparing to be a wife when Mr. Right finds her. Proverbs 18:22 says (amp ver-sion) “He who finds a true wife, finds a good things and obtains favor from the Lord” the key phrase there be-ing “He who finds”. That means that when God sees fit for you to be joined with the man he has for you, God will send him to find you, not you go out and find him. So many single women of God say they are ready and can’t wait to get married. The reality is, however, that many women are not ready to be married. If a woman is not enjoying single life getting connected to God and caring for the things of the Lord because they are too fo-cused on simply waiting for their king, then they are miss-ing out on an awesome season of their life; the season of preparation always precedes the season of operation. God will prepare you for your mate through your relation-ship with Him personally before in order to make you capable to handle the responsibilities of being a wife to a man. That is why being connected to God is so necessary. Getting connected with God means reading the wording daily, praying daily, praising and worship-ping God daily, knowing and being confident in the call-ing God has for your life, and constantly asking God to groom and mold you into a virtuous woman. A virtuous woman is one who is morally excellent and righteous. A virtuous woman is considered a queen. A virtuous woman is one whom her husband’s heart can fully trust

without ever having to doubt her love and commit-ment. A virtuous woman knows how to fully support her husband in his calling, and she knows how to let her husband be what God has called man to be: the head. So ask yourself are you becoming a virtuous wom-an? Do you have a deep connection with God? Are you at a place where you know that you can and will contin-ue to chase after Gods heart, while at the same time care for the heart of your husband? Do you know how to let a man lead while you follow? If you are struggling in any of these areas, then you may not be quite ready to be mar-ried. Women, we have to let God groom us in these ar-eas in order to become a queen fit for a man that God has transformed into our king. God will not bless us with the heart of one of his son’s, if he knows we are not equipped enough to care for it the way a true woman of God needs too. However, if you know that you are truly saved and liv-ing up to the standards of a true virtuous woman, then just continue to be patient and do not compromise your walk. A lot of time when women are single, saved and waiting on God, the devil comes in to plant the seed of sexual lust, loneliness, and depression. If we allow those seeds plant, we will find ourselves compromising our bodies and sal-vation in the arms of a man NOT approved by God. Af-ter that comes the backlash of dealing with the shame and guilt of a defiled bed, a displeasing God, and potentially other life changing ramifications. This is why having a real connection with God is so vital. We already know that the enemy will come, so when he comes and tries to mess with our minds, instead of falling into his trap, the Word of God will protect and shield us, even from own fleshly desires. I have been saved and single for a while now, and I must say it has not always been a walk in the park. The enemy has tried to mess with my mind and my emotions. Through every test however, I quickly spoke against the acts of the enemy, focusing on the goodness of God and the fact that I love him too much to compromise my salvation and the destiny he has for me. I am allowing God to be my match maker and while I wait, I will continue to get closer and deeper in God and I will NOT compromise my salvation. So to all my virtuous single ladies, know that God has not forgotten you. It may seem like everyone else is finding love and getting married. But don’t worry because when God says yes, it will be your season to say “I do”.

The GOD-FATHERS of Gospel Mime

God works through people to help bring lost souls to Christ through singing, preaching and even praise dancing. But God has gifted twin brothers Karl and Keith Edmonds to minister to people in a slightly different way. They have been given the gift of mime. Is the art of miming in church considered non-tra-ditional? Yes, but is it just as powerful and anointed as ministering through singing, preaching or praise dancing? Absolutely! Miming is the theoretical technique of suggesting action, character or emotion without words using only gesture, expression and movement. Karl and Keith Edmonds best known as K&K Mime began at the age of ten as a way of having a role within the church. But what Karl and Keith did not realize at that time was their miming was not just something to do as an activity in church, God had given them an anointed gift that would soon be used to save souls. They choreographed routines to a lot of popular gospel songs and would perform at numer-ous local churches in their community. By the time

they were sixteen years old, their gift was open-ing up doors for them to perform at out of state churches as well as schools.

As K & K Mime began to travel and spread the gospel through miming, the response to their form of praise varied among the people. Many re-ceived and viewed their ministry as a creative way of glorifying God. But others rejected it because it wasn’t a traditional form of praise. Despite the backlash that Karl and Keith received from time to time, they continued to press on and do what they knew God had called them to do. Although Karl and Keith knew miming was how God had intend-ed for them minister, they were careful about the platforms they performed on. Karl and Keith used caution in this area due to the fact that miming was not a ministry that was accepted by a lot of the people; so they usually just waited patiently for the doors of opportunity to emerge. Small doors here

oppositions and rejections they faced when they first started out and some rejections they still cur-rently deal with. The brothers told us one thing to always remember when doing what God has called you to do is to never let rejection be the cause of you missing your blessing. Everyone will not always accept the mantel on your life. But as long as God has approved it, then continue to operate in your calling and never let negativity get you off track. We here at the Kingdom Magazine truly pray that God continues to bless Karl & Keith in all of their future endeavors.

and there opened up for the brothers and eventu-ally their patience and humility with the small doors lead to the path of large doors. In 1996, God blessed K & K Mime to minister on BET Bobby Jones Gospel. K & K Mime being afforded the opportunity to minister on Bobby Jones Gospel pushed them in the mainstream Gospel industry.

As popularity with the two brothers grew, the churches that once rejected them began to form miming groups within their own ministry. It is amazing how God will always work things out and make those who once rejected you respect you. Karl and Keith stayed so focused, faithful and determined on continuously birthing out the vision that was given to them, that God began opening up so many doors at once, to the point that they had to develop a way to manage themselves. After a lot of strategizing, Karl and Keith decided to develop their own production company called the Maramont Group. K&K Mime has truly been blessed exceedingly, abundantly and above all that they could ask for over the years. Although Karl & Keith are very grateful for how God has blessed them in their gift of miming, the brothers decided to make 2012 the last year that they would accept miming engagements in order to focus more on their families and building and expanding their church . But don’t worry, they will still be seen performing at special events and facilitating work-shops. The Kingdom Magazine caught up with K & K Mime at the 2012 Gospel Super Fest in Memphis, TN. It was great hearing them speak about growing up as twins and how God has tremendously cultivated and elevated their miming ministry throughout the years. During the inter-view Karl and Keith gave some awesome words of advice in regards to using the gifts that God has given you to build up His kingdom. But one thing we really felt was a great word of encouragement was when Karl and Keith spoke about the

Kim Burrell has become one of the most influential voices in gospel music. She is the founder and sever-ing Pastor of The Love and Liberty Fellowship Church. Pastor Burrell overcame health issues early in childhood that could have potentially not allowed her to become a singer such as battling double pneumonia for eight years as a child. Pastor Burrell life was always des-tine for greatness as a young child and she performed her first solo with the church choir at the age of only one year old singing Andraé Crouch’s “Hallelujah Praise”. Being the daughter of a pastor she started her gospel career singing with James Cleveland’s GMWA Youth Choir. Her first independent album was Try Me Again. The turning point in her career was in 1996 when she appeared on Ricky Dillard and New G’s “Work It Out”. The Houston, TX native is reverenced by her peers in the music industry from both the spiritual and secular world. She has shared the stage with the likes of gospel greats Pastor Shirley Caesar, Albertina Walker, Pastor Donnie McClur-kin, Karen Clark-Sheard, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin and Pastor Marvin Winans. Because of her diversity in music Pastor Burrell has broken many barriers allowing people from many walks of life to enjoy her music. Burrell started her own ministry Love and Liberty Fellowship Church in her home town of Houston, TX. She is also the current vocal coach on BET’s hit gospel show Sunday’s Best, she also hosts her annual Ephesians 4 Conference. Burrell was the 2012 winner at the Stella Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Contemporary Female of the Year. “Ultimately, Pastor Burrell’s prayer is that she would be used as a vessel of change that her spirit-filled singing and preaching will touch the lives of many and souls will be saved throughout the United States and for-eign lands.” For more information on Pastor Burrell’s Annual Ephesians 4 Conference (date:TBA) please contact Love and Liberty Fellowship Ministries at 281-807-9907 or check out her website www.kimburrellministries.com. When asked what was the most important hat that she wears, Bre’ly paused a minute then stated, “Oh that’s easy, the most important thing to me in my life is staying true to who I am and my relationship with God.” She also talked about how easy it is too lose your identity, your values and forgetting who you really are by allowing the glitz and the glam, the money, the cars, and all that comes with being famous consume you! Bre’ly accredits God, her spiritual leaders, family and great people like Jamie Foxx and Regina King just to name few, for showing her the right way to handle success. The people in her life let her know that no matter how big or well-known you become always stay humble and never forget where you come from and those who help you get there. Bre’ly Evans is no stranger to the big screen, Hollywood, or stardom. This young lady is making a name for herself and her voice is being heard through-out the nation as she is speaking loud, clear and with boldness. Bre’ly Evans is her name and she is indeed becoming a trail blazer that is making people take no-tice. It was such a refreshing conversation and inter-view that I conducted with Miss Evans. Bre’ly is a very lively and passionate person who believes in giving her full dedication and best in everything that she does. Bre’ly lives by the motto of “ if you are going to do something then do it with excellence making sure that you are giving it your all, no holds barred.” Bre’ly wears many hats, as one would say about a busy person such as herself. She is an actress, singer, comedian, voice-over talent, radio personality and her most recent endeavor is being the Ambassador and spokesperson for Jenny Craig. Bre’ly is a great example

In the beginning the journey to being healthy was to shed some pounds and look good, but at the same time Bre’ly took a broader look at the fact that she needed to be healthy and change her eating habits because of losing her grandmother to diabetes. It was a wakeup call for Bre’ly compelling her to start making smarter and healthier food choices so that she could truly live life to the fullest in every area of her life. There is so much to this young lady and the talents that she possesses. She recently starred in the remake of the movie Sparkle where she played Sparkle’s best friend True Ann. Bre’ly talked about how exciting it was working with so many great actors and actresses like the late Whitney Houston, Jordin Sparks, Tamela Mann, comedian Mike Epps, Celo Green and many more that were in the movie. Bre’ly has also been fea-tured in the movie “Just Wright” starring Queen Lati-fah and Common as well as the hit gospel play entitled “Torn Between The Two” where she played Shonte Campbell, the daughter of R&B and Gospel musical legend Mrs. Shirley Murdock. One of the noted talents that Bre’ly has is singing in which she was one of the members of and R&B group trio called “Emerge” that was signed to the Mercury/Polygram record label. It was truly a pleasure meeting and talking with such an awesome and sweet young lady. We are excited about what this young lady is doing in her life and we certainly wish her the best in all that she sets her heart and mind to do. Bre’ly said “My approach in inspiring others is speaking the truth, being real and raw in hopes of empowering them to live life to the fullest and to never give up on their dreams”. Bre’ly believes that there are too many dreams that are dying and not being fulfilled. It’s time to make your dreams a reality knowing that with faith, hard work and God on your side you can do anything! Another one of the important quests that Bre’ly has is being successful in every area of her life which includes being healthy. I asked Bre’ly was the food honestly as good as she is proclaiming them to be, and she laughed and said, “I am so serious, Jenny Craig food is straight tha bomb diggety!” Her favorites are the blueberry pancakes and the fish and chips. Bre’ly said she let some of her friends and family taste the food and they could not believe it was a Jenny Craig entrée—they loved it! When it came to choosing The Kingdom Magazine’s readers and subscribers’ top choice for our anniversary and Man of The Year edition of the maga-zine, Bishop T.D. Jakes was definitely our number one choice—hands down. Bishop Jakes is no stranger to us as he has broken so many boundaries and barriers when it comes to ministry, success and most of all being the best at all you do in life. T.D Jakes is definitely trailblazing and building a legacy that impacts millions of lives from all walks of life. The Kingdom Magazine had the pleasure of

speaking with Bishop Jakes during a conference call in-terview that was held by Tosha Whitten Griggs and The FrontPage Firm. The interview was conducted back in July of 2012 right before the release of the remake of the 1976 movie “Sparkle” in which Bishop Jakes was the executive producer of the film. As an icebreaker, I jokingly asked Bishop Jakes was he Superman’s long lost brother. He paused for a second then belted out his signature deep and soul-ful laugh causing the other journalist as well as myself to join in along with him. After laughing, he kind of chuckled asking why I would ask a question like that.

I explained that my ice-breaker humor was due to looking at his itinerary and schedule which consisted of being the Bishop and Senior Pastor of The Potters House 30,000-member ministry, making movies, conferences, writing books and everything else that he has going on. I did not see how he was able to do it all unless he was secretly related to Superman! Bishop Jakes assured me that he was all human and not related to the fic-tional character Superman, although Bishop did admit that at times it does feel as if he is moving non-stop and at a fast pace. Bishop said there have been times when his schedule and life has gotten so busy that he had to make an appointment with himself in order to have some down time. Bishop let us know that he yet loves what he does and feel richly blessed to be able to live his dream. Moving on from the icebreaker joke, Bishop and I began to talk about some of the endeavors and projects that he has embarked upon over the course of the last couple of years. His MegaFest Festivals alone have been known to draw over 100,000 people. Woman Thou Art Loosed is the flagship conference which is sold out annu-ally. These inspirational festivals and conferences set the trend for all of the success and favor that has followed Bishop Jakes, allowing him to grace many major platforms and be in the company of many great men and women inclusive of four United States presidents. One being George W. Bush and our now President Barak Obama when Bishop Jakes led the early morning prayer that was held at St. Johns Church located in Washington D.C. One of his greatest joys in life is being married for over 31 years and counting to his lovely wife, First Lady Serita Ann Jakes and their five children—three sons and two daughters. Bishop shared that he never would have thought life would be as fulfilling as it has been during the early years of his ministry when he faced the heart-aches of hard times, struggles and overcoming the norms of life. Yet Bishop stands tall and affirmed being grate-

ful for having the opportunity to have touched millions of lives, witnessing to them through God, allowing them to be set free and transformed for the better. Bishop Jakes expresses how important it is to be Kingdom minded and not to limit yourself within the confines of the four walls of an edifice or church building. He stated that he constantly en-courages everyone he ministers to, to live their dreams being unafraid to step out on faith in the pursuit of happiness. You will encounter problems in life but strive every day to find and fulfill your purpose Pastor Walter Thomas, Jordin Sparks, T.D. Jakes and Pastor Edgar Vann

which will ultimately lead you to your destiny. Bishop Jakes can be credited for writing over 30 books that inspire and motivate millions of readers to live a happy and better life. Bishop also has been responsible for several movies that we have come to love and enjoy such as “Jumping The Broom” featuring such A-list actors and actresses as Angela Bassett, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso, Meagan Good, Mike Epps, Loretta Devine, Tasha Smith, Julie Bowen, Pooch Hall, comedian DeRay Davis and Lil Romeo. Another great movie in Bishop Jakes’ repertoire is “Not Easily Broken” starring Morris Chestnut, Taraji P. Henson, Maeve Quinlin, Eddie Cibrian, Jenifer Lewis, Wood Harris, Niecy Nash, Albert Hall and comedian Kevin Hart. Last but not least, “Woman Thou Art Loosed”, an all-time favor-ite with great cast members Kimberly Elise, Loretta Devine, Clifton Powell, Debbie Morgan, Michael Boatman, Idalis DeLeon, Philip Bolden and Sean Blakemore. When asked what prompted Bishop Jakes to do a remake of the movie “Sparkle”, Bishop let it be known that “Sparkle” was by far one of his favorite movies. Bishop stated how so many of us have never saw nor heard of the original movie and had no idea of what they were missing! He talked about how he loved the music, the characters and the story line from the original “Sparkle” movie. The true motivation to make the movie was the message that was embedded within the script of the movie. The characters and story line compelled those who have had to deal with the pitfalls of life to keep believing. Sparkle made some realize that although you go through things in life and may even have setbacks, it does not mean that you have to stop living or stop reaching for that place of purpose and destiny. The characters encouraged the viewers that regardless of what you have been through you should never give up on your dreams or yourself. Bishop raved about how great the cast members were on and off screen. The late Whitney Houston who played Emma, Sparkle’s mother, definitely played a major part in the vision of the movie coming to fruition. Once again Bishop Jakes did not fall short of bringing to the stage a cast of great actresses and actors like Jordin Sparks (who played Sparkle), Mike Epps, Tika Sumpton, Carmen Ejogo, Omar Hardwick, Derek Luke, Celo Green and Bre’ley Evans. If you have not had the privilege of watching the 2012 remake of the movie “Sparkle” you are certainly in for a treat! It was indeed an honor to be able to talk with and have Bishop T.D. Jakes as our Man of The Year and looking within Bishop’s resume and accom-plishments, I must say that we made a great choice! We would like to thank Bishop Jakes and The FrontPage Firm for allowing us the time for Bishop to share with us all that he has done and is doing. Tosha talked of how even with all the accomplishments and positions she has held or had in her life that none of them top putting her family first. “Without family and loved ones what is success? My family is my motivation, they are what keep me striving to be and stay the best. Because of them I am able to do what I do knowing that I have a strong support system.” Amongst all of the great accomplishments in life, another one of Tosha’s passions is mentoring the youth. She loves inspiring and speaking into a young person’s life giving them hope and aspirations. I Soulful and truly anointed are two words that perfectly describe the up-and-coming gospel star Zacardi Cortez. By making his mark in the gospel music arena by having a lead solo on James Fortune and FIYA’s hit songs “I believe” and “The Blood “, Zacardi has definitely shown the world he has been blessed with a beautiful gift from God. This young 27 year old singer began ministering to the masses through music at the age of five years old. Zacardi, who was born in Houston, TX grew up singing in church along with his family who traveled throughout Texas singing at different church-es and special events as the Cortez singers. The Kingdom Magazine got a chance to catch up with Zacardi during a live performance at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, MI in May 2012. When asked how he enjoyed singing with his family, Zacardi chuckled and stated “It was fun and a very enjoyable experience”. He said his family taught him ev-erything he ever wanted to know about singing and although they do not sing together a lot anymore, his family still has his back and encourages him to sing and pursue his dream. As Zacardi progressed in his singing, he eventually was taken under the wing of gospel artist and pastor John P. Kee. Pastor Kee became his spiritual father and musical mentor. I was very interested in knowing how Zacardi felt about being taken under the wing of an awesome anointed man such as Pastor John P. Kee and becoming his mentee. He started “Being mentored by John P. Kee was definitely a blessing. John was more than a mentor, he was that positive role model and father figure that I never had because my father was not involved in my life”. One of the things that I loved about the interview with Zacardi was his honesty when asked if he ever wanted to just throw in the towel and tell God “I am done with singing”. Zacardi stated: “Of course I wanted to quit, who hasn’t wanted to quit something God has called them to do. There are just so many negative influences, haters, and frustrations that come along with walking in your calling that sometimes I just wanted to say I’m done. But I had to stop and say, no, keep going, you can’t quit”. It was a blessing and honor to have the opportunity to sit down face-to-face and speak with Mr. Zacardi Cortez. He released his debut album, “Zacardi Cortez: The Introduction”, May 22, 2012 which features the phenomenal Fred Hammond, Lala Hathaway, Isaac Carree, Ki Ki Sheard, and of course his spiritual father and mentor, Pastor John P. Kee. We here at the Kingdom Magazine look forward to seeing all the great things that God will continue to bring into Zacardi’s life, and we pray that Zacardi will continue tobe blessed!

Father, singer, song writer, and director are just a few hats that Mr. Myron Cobbs wears. His biggest hat is being a servant of God. His biggest passion is being that servant and being pleasing in His eyes. Myron stated that he has a passion for God’s people. For many fans of Gospel music, Myron Cobbs needs no introduction. Com-ing from a musical family background where there was always music playing around the house growing up has allowed him to use his gifts and talents for the Lord since the age of five. With no formal training, Myron went on to sing in middle school and later high school. Myron joined the Young Gospel Singers, a local community choir in 1972. The following year, he joined the choir at Tabernacle, COGIC in Kalamazoo, MI. He started off just singing in the choir and later became the choir director in 1975. In 1985, Myron’s love for singing had taken him over and he formed Eternal Life which brought together some of the most gifted vocalists in the Kalamazoo, MI area. Eternal Life for nine years would travel throughout the Kalamazoo and the surrounding areas with 40 plus members blessing everyone that would hear them minister the word of God through their beautiful sound. Myron and his family later joined Christian Life Center, for the next 15 years he became a vital force in their music ministry. In 1998, realizing that there was an even deeper depth in God that he needed to reach with his music Myron formed the group Myron Cobbs and a New Song. While with his new group, he released his first album “King of Glory” in 2002, which included three of his own songs. Myron has had the privilege to also write songs for the Gospel Award winning group Rizen, Markey Montaque, and Carolyn Quinn. In 2009, Myron decided to take his gift of the campus of Kalamazoo College and formed the Kalamazoo College Gospel Choir. Mr. Cobb had a wonderful release musical that brought back many of the great singers that had sung with him over the years. The Voices of Tabernacle brought down the Glory of God like never before. Eternal Life took you back to the place where you first believed that God was all you would ever need. A New Song made you not want to leave and just stay in the presence of God all night. Ending the night we were able to hear a few of his new song that his latest project The Day. The Day tells the story of the different chapters of his journey. The Album was released in April 2012. His niece Brigitte Christmon gave kind words about her growing up and with her uncle and one of her lasting remarks was, “He was teaching a New Song in the Tabernacle so we could have Eternal Life.” Mr. Myron Cobbs a very humble man who’s desire is to be pleasing in God’s eyes.To contact Myron Cobb or to purchcase your copy of The Day please go to [email protected]

When I say actor, model, athlete, writer, producer, entrepreneur, man of God, and loving father, I am describing Richard Gallion. Richard Gallion is a native of Chicago Illinois who’s first love in life was basketball and football. Although Richard was great at football, basketball was the sport that truly captured his heart. Richard loved basketball so much that he felt someday basketball was going to be his ticket to living the life style of the rich and famous. After being an all-star ball player at Lakeview high school, he graduated and went on the play Division I NCAA basketball at Chicago State University. During Richards’s college basketball career, he obtained his first acting role by auditioning and landing a role as a basketball player in a Nike Commercial. Richard’s success in the Nike commercial led to other acting gigs which eventually opened up the door for Rich-ard to become a model for Ebony Fashion Fair. Richard was such a great model for the Ebony Fashion Fair; he was presented with the awesome opportu-nity to become a model for Ebony Magazine. As a young 28 year old man, Richard has been afforded opportuni-ties most people only dream of. To add to all of the wonderful success that Richard has already had, God allowed

him to land his first stage play role by filling in for the original cast member of the play who was able to perform the role. Little did Richard know, his first few stage play was just the beginning of something great that was about to explode in his life. Richard eventually met the talented play writer and producer John Ruffin while serving as a door greeter for one of John’s productions. After watching the play, Richard knew that working on stage with John is where he wanted to be. Richard has been blessed with the opportunity to star in John Ruffin’s play “All My Single Ladies”. He has also became the producer, writer , and star of his own plays “Living Without Love” which hit the stage in 2012 and he will be on stage for his upcoming project “Voice of a Child” which will hit the stage in the spring of 2013. Along with plays, Richard has starred in mov-ies such as Black Butterfly, The Ideal Husband (directed by John Ruffin), and Love me or Leave me (also directed by John Ruffin). The Kingdom Magazine was blessed with the opportunity to catch up with Richard Gallion in Chicago 2012 while he was performing in the hit stage play ‘All My Single Ladies”. We truly enjoyed sitting down with Richard and getting know a little more about the life of this talented man of God. The Kingdom Magazine truly prays that God continues to bless you, Richard, in all of his future endeavors.

T he Tuskegee Airmen, a group of dy-namic African-American pilots from the 1940’s, changed the face of history by being the first African-Americans to pilot in the U.S military. Before World War II, the army did not employ African-Americans. With racism being very prevalent during World War II, black pilots were not welcomed with open arms in the military. Fortunately, due to the hard work of different civil rights organizations pushing racial equal-ity among pilots in the U.S. military, the military eventually elected to form a Negro Air Corps training school based in Tuskegee, Alabama. Without surprise, The Tuskegee Air-men faced many hardships due to the color of their skin. Some of those hardships includ-ed being trained in overcrowded classrooms as well as being laughed at and scrutinized by many of the Caucasian pilots. The Tuske-gee Airmen went through tons of obstacles but through it all, they persevered in order to prove themselves to be highly qualified pilots. During their time serving in the U.S mili-tary, they obtained the name “Red Tails Angels.” The name was given to the airmen because the Caucasian bombers affectionately considered The Tuskegee Airmen their angels of protec-tion. This thought was symbolized with painting red the tail of the Tuskegee Airmen’s aircrafts. By the time the World War II ended, 992 men graduated from the Negro Air Corps train-ing school. Of those 992 men that graduated,

450 of them were assigned to fight overseas. The airmen unquestionably proved themselves to be worthy of fighting in any war. They managed to seriously damage or destroy well over 409 German planes, 950 ground units, and also sank a battleship. Due to the courageous acts of The Tuskegee Airmen and the outstanding im-pact that they made in history, on Novem-ber 6, 1998 President Bill Clinton approved a law that established The Tuskegee Airmen Na-tional Historic Site at Morton field located in Tuskegee, Alabama. It was a long overdue recog-nition of the great service provided by the airmen. In 2012 The Tuskegee Airmen were honored with the box office hit movie Red Tails direct-ed by Anthony Hemingway. The movie which made 6 million dollars opening night is a fic-tionalized portrayal of the Tuskegee airmen dur-ing World War II. The Kingdom magazine was blessed to have a chance to sit down with one of the surviving Tuskegee Airmen named Douglas. When asked about what he thought about the movie Red Tails, Douglas replied that the mov-ies’ depiction of the Tuskegee Airmen was a very close to his actual experiences. Douglas gave us his personal account of what it was like be-ing a Tuskegee Airman, and he shared many funny stories with us. It was an honor to have a chance to sit down with such an awesome man. We would like to thank The Tuskegee Airmen for standing together to destroy inequality in the military in order to change the face of history.

GET YOUR MINDOUT OF THE

GUTTER

Cheryl Pullins, CPCBusiness & Lifestyle Solutions ExpertGet your mind out of the GUTTER!

Yes I said it and I am not taking it back! That is what one of the pastor’s in Tampa, FL says when he knew he said something which stung those listening. It certainly is an attention grabber. I spend a great deal of time coaching women and there is a recurring theme. Many of the women I coach end up with a similar conclusion. Their minds are stuck in past negative experiences which are showing up in their lives. How are they showing up, you may ask?Worry. Unbelief. Low self-esteem. Lack of confidence. Doubt. Fear. Those negative experiences have projected themselves from years past into the present and if con-tinued they will significantly impact their future life. Many are operating with a faulty mindset and because of this mindset they use phrases like:“I can’t.”“I won’t.”“I don’t.”“I will never…” A mindset of can’t, never will. An attitude of won’t, don’t. It’s just that simple. Can’t is a deception of your ability and won’t is an attitude. You have deceived yourself when you begin to think that you can’t be who God has called you to be. You are acting as if you are incapable of being confident, secure and empowered. Those negative scripts you continuously play in your mind have set you up to actively defeat, discourage and sabotage every plan Designed for your life. Where the mind goes the rest is sure to follow. What you think about is vitally important. What you

think about impacts how you think about your life, your attitude, and your circumstances. There is scien-tific evidence and biblical confirmation that what you think about, dwell on, meditate on and focus on will manifest itself in your life; whether good or bad. In my line of work, I often hear a lot of new age theory and terms, but I know there is nothing new under the sun. I know there is no secret. The Bible is clear, as a man thinks in his heart (mind) so is he. Proverbs 23:7. It is past time to get your mind out of the gut-ter. Stop allowing your mind to be used as a garbage can. Stop hoarding junk and mess in your head. Clean it out. Think of your mind as a receptacle – container of past, present and future information. Now imag-ine a garbage can, a receptacle for trash, old food and unwanted items. Whatever you don’t want you do what with it? Throw it in the trash – the garbage. Why? Because after a while it smells, gets moldy and it has no further use. Then you take the garbage out so it is properly hauled off and carried away from you and your home. Now go back to your mind being a receptacle. Think about the things you are holding onto in your mind that is causing you to have stinking thinking. Those negative thoughts and experiences which have become smelly and have no use. Your mind “smells” to the point where all that garbage is spilling out into your life, your business and your relationships. You are full of worry, fear, doubt and unbelief. But you have the responsibility to make the change. You have the capacity to trash the mind trash, get your mind out of the gutter and have all that mental garbage hauled off out of your mind and removed from your life.
