The Khmer Smile School (NGO) - Siem Reap, Cambodia The Khmer Smile School is a non-profit organization founded in 2011. It provides free English lessons to needy children. There are 150 students registered, but more and more enroll every day. So far, three classrooms have been built, but a lot still needs to be done; they need a library and another classroom, and in the future, the school plans to offer computer courses and vocational training. The Khmer Smile School really needs both local and international volunteers to come and teach English to the children. In order to improve their speaking skills, it is crucial for the students to get to interact with international teachers from all over the world. Khmer Smile School
The Khmer Smile School is a non-profit organization committed to giving underprivi-ledged children in Cambodia the opportunity to learn English.
Founded in 2011 by young and dynamic Cambodians, the school is located in Spean Chreav village, 7 km from the northern town of Siem Reap and the famous ancient city of Angkor.
Spean Chreav is a community with limited access to education. The school is therefore free of charge and runs thanks to Cambodian and international volunteers.
The Khmer Smile School provides English lessons outside of everyday classes, in order to enable children to also attend regular school. As most jobs in Siem Reap require good language skills, the school aims to give the students an English education that will help them in the future.
Today, there are 150 students registered at the Khmer Smile School, but more students come every day. So far, three classrooms have been built, but a lot more needs to be done; they need a library and another classroom, and in the future, the school plans to offer computer courses as well as vocational training.
Who are we ?
We need volunteers !
The Khmer Smile School really needs both local and international volunteers to come and teach English to the children.
In order to improve their speaking skills, it is crucial for the students to get to interact with internation-al teachers from all over the world.
For the volunteers who wish to be fully immersed in the culture, food and accomodation can be provided by host families.
More than 50 motivated volunteers have joined the school so far!
