FROM THE DESK OF THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
To whom it may concern,
At the beginning of this year, I've seen many club officers
having issues understanding what it meant to be a Club
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer or Editor. These
were people who volunteered their time and committed to
giving service – not knowing what their job was about or
what they needed to do.
This year, all new officers will need to attend the 2012 Pacific
Northwest District Convention. For incoming club officers, this
convention will provide them with the training and tools
needed to perform their jobs and grow their clubs. By doing
this, we will ensure that each and every club officer is com-
petent and capable of having a successful year.
For candidates not able to attend the 2012 Pacific Northwest District Convention,
please complete the following waiver. By signing this waiver, the candidate will agree
to attend future officer training events. This waiver should be signed by the candidate's
Parent, Faculty Advisor, Kiwanis Advisor, and School Principal. In a letter, each candi-
dates must answer multiple questions including why they wish to run for office.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at giovan-

What’s crackin’
November for Wilson Key Club is getting to the “how-do-I-feel” stage. Every key clubber is
getting to know what Key Club really is, who we are,
what we do and why. This was strongly influenced by
our Lieutenant Governor, Giovanni McKenzie, by intro-
ducing Key Club and The Eliminate Project with a sim-ple life-changing activity at his official visit to our
school. Our Lt. Governor was accompanied by Jewel
Bailey on behalf of Peninsula Kiwanis and assisted by Jim
McAllister, Division 62 Area Administrator, to speak about
the chartering / reactivation process.
Services and Projects (varies on timeline):
Key Clubbers volunteered at Farmer’s Market- Hollywood which involved interaction with dif-
ferent people. This was a rewarding experience for us
and we also made a strong ties with their volunteer coor-
dinator.
Key Club Week was greatly emphasized. PURPLE AND
PIZZA was the highlight. It showed Key Club Spirit and
brought new guests to our meeting! Following that, Ani-
mal Shelter Volunteer Orientation at Animal Aid- Beaver-
ton. Wilson Key Clubbers are really passionated about
saving and caring abused and lost animals!
We also experience the Oregon Food Bank- Beaverton
rage! Our adrenalines went on 9am-11am repacking six
thousand pounds of frozen french fries! It was a great
feeling of knowing you fed 4,000 people with frozen quick
paced hands
Wilson Key Club is growing fast and wild! Recently, we
had a class visit to advertise Wilson Key Club. Two groups
of three covered the whole Wilson High School grounds
under one hour. Students were amazed and stunned that
there’s such thing as a club like Key Club that pro-
vides unlimited opportunities of service,leadership
and enthusiasm! Even teachers were surprised
and encouraged their students to come
to our meetings every Friday.

2011 DISTRICT PROJECT: KIWANIS CHILDREN CANCER PROGRAM
The Kiwanis Children Cancer Program was founded
by Governor Frank Morehouse of the Pacific North-
west District of Kiwanis International in 2010. Kiwanis
Governor Frank’s inspiration was a young cancer pa-
tient named Penny. Governor Frank worked at the
hospital where Penny stayed. Penny was diagnosed
with a brain tumor and would require surgery and ra-
diation therapy. Penny would visit Governor Frank
during her hospital stays and talk about what was
happening to her. Penny eventually lost her battle
with cancer. The KCCP is dedicated to Penny’s
memory.
The new Pacific Northwest Key Club District Governor,
Varun Awasthi saw the need for this project. Our Gov-
ernor made it his duty to ensure that Key Clubbers
across our district knew more about children’s can-
cer, and make our contribution to curing cancer.
How can you help?
The two greatest contributions you could make is to:
Help us educate
Help us fundraise

2011-2012 The ELIMINATE PROJECT eliminating neonatal & maternal tetanus
WHAT IF YOU COULD SAVE A BABY’S LIFE? There are few events more joyful than the day a new baby is
welcomed to the world. But in 38 countries, a dreaded dis-
ease quickly turns that joy into tragedy.
Maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) kills one baby every
nine minutes — that's 60,000 babies every year who will never
grow up, make their mothers laugh, play with friends or dream
about the future. The effects of the disease are excruciating
— tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and ex-
treme sensitivity to light and touch. A significant number of
women die from MNT each year too.
$2 = Protection for mother
+ future babies
$1.80 (roughly) = 3 doses of tetanus vaccine
