How many times every day do you struggle with your near vision? Perhaps you’re holding this brochure at arm’s length to be able to read more clearly. Everyday tasks from reading the paper or a text, checking a price tag or food menu are equally tricky.

The fact is, as we get older, we lose our near vision. The technical term for this loss of crispness of our near vision, as we get older is “presbyopia”. It’s a natural process that happens to everyone, usu-ally from their mid-40s, even if you have previously had laser vision correction. It is estimated that more than 1.7 billion people around the world experience presbyopia; it’s simply part of the ageing pro-cess.

Traditionally, most people with presbyopia use reading glasses to improve their near vision but with reading glasses come numer-ous vision and lifestyle constraints. This is the unique benefit of this revolutionary new treatment. With KAMRA Vision comes freedom and convenience. The restoration of near vision means no more dependency on reading glasses.

No more reading glasses

Over time, the eye’s natural lens becomes too stiff to focus up close.

KAMRA Vision restores vision of objects near the eye and reduces depend-ency on reading glasses, critically without compromising on distance vision.

The KAMRA inlay is a tiny ring with an opening in the centre. It rests under the surface of the cornea over the centre of your pupil. When placed in the cor-nea, the small opening in the center of the KAMRA inlay blocks unfocused light and only allows focused light to reach the retina. With focused light rays, you can enjoy a wider range of improved vision for all distances – near, far and in between.

The inlay itself is only 3.8 mm in diameter. It is smaller than a contact lens and weighs less than a grain of salt. It is placed in one eye only. You don’t even notice it’s there, apart from the enjoyment of having your near vision restored.

The ProcedureThe actual procedure is entirely painless and takes, on average, less than 10 minutes. Patients can resume most activities the very next day, free from the dependency on reading glasses. Implanting of the KAMRA inlay can be done alone or in combination with LASIK. The inlay treatment is fully reversible.

The result is long-lasting, clear vision; near, far and in between.

Thousands of KAMRA inlays are performed every year which means it’s also proven to be effective.

The level of near vision improvement varies from individual to individual but on average you can expect near vision to im-prove three lines or more. The images on the right illustrate the size of text that candidates were able to read before and after the KAMRA inlay.

KAMRA Vision has been in development for over a decade and means life-changing benefi ts for those who are depend-ent on reading glasses.
