Greetings from your
Principal,
We are ready to welcome
spring with open arms!
With the warmer weather,
state testing arrives. Our
students have prepared all
year for their end of
course state testing. They
will complete the follow-
ing Ohio state tests: 7th
grade English, 7th grade
math, 8th grade English,
8th grade math, 8th grade
science, English I, Alge-
bra I, English II, Geome-
try, American History,
Biology, and Govern-
ment. Good luck to all
our students!
We watched as Conrad
Birdie bid farewell to all
his fans in our production
of Bye Bye Birdie. The
Old Fort students did an
excellent job of portray-
ing a love-stricken fan
Kim McAfee with a jeal-
ous Hugo, a struggling
songwriter Albert Peterson,
an impatient secretary/
fiancée Rosie, an exasper-
ated dad Harry and mother
Doris, and many many
more characters. The show
was full of laughter, talent,
and memories. A huge
thank you to Mrs. DeRodes
and Mrs. Hunker!
We honored our National
Honor Society returning
juniors and seniors, and
welcomed our new induc-
tees on April 16th. Con-
gratulations Morgan Heil-
man, Savannah McCoy,
Amy Corfman, Zach Dew-
ese, Emily Hull, Seth
Miller, Austin Mizen,
Shane Ott, Dre Toy, and
Bennett Wasserman. Re-
member the true meaning

sented an awards cere-
mony, highlighting our ag-

We are in the home
stretch of the school
year, and we are finishing
the year strong here at
the elementary. Spring-
time brings lots of out-
side activities, including
field trips, track and field
days and fun recesses
with friends. May will be
a busy month!
We are also right in the
middle of statewide test-
ing, and I am very proud
of our students. Every-
one is taking this very
seriously, and students
have put forth their best
effort. We will finish
with fifth grade Science
on May 7, and then we’ll
be home free. State test
results arrive over the
summer, and families are
typically notified of
scores at the beginning of
the next school year. If
you want to know your
child’s test results before
then, feel free to call me
in August.
This has been a busy sea-
son for district adminis-
trators, as we have been
working diligently on
both our superintendent
search and finding an As-
sistant Principal/Special
Education Coordinator.
We are confident we will
find the right person for
both positions who will
help strengthen our lead-
ership team as we move
forward as a district.
Our students partici-
pated in Jump Rope for
Heart and have raised
over $3,300 for the
American Heart Associa-
tion this month. Stu-
dents enjoyed participat-
ing in various jump rope
activities in Physical Edu-
cation class and also
learned about the impor-
tance of practicing
healthy habits to keep
our hearts in shape.
“ We are also
right in the
middle of
statewide
testing, and I
am very proud
of our
students.”

Kindergarten numbers
are strong for next year
as we welcome our new-
est Stockaders to Kin-
dergarten Screening on
April 25-26th. We look
forward to meeting
them. Kindergarten
won’t be the same next
year without Mrs.
Wilbert. We celebrate
the legacy she leaves and
all the lives she’s im-
pacted in nearly 35 years
of teaching, and we wish
her much happiness in
her retirement!
Please remember that
the last day of school for
students in grades K-11
is Thursday, May 23rd.
We wish you and your
family a wonderful and
safe summer together!
With Children at Heart,
Mrs. Laura F. Bryant

February Artist Kyra Cranmer
I’m Kyra Cranmer, a senior in Art IV. Art has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was
very young, and I have learned a variety of mediums throughout my artistic career. My favor-
ite project from art class is sculpture due to its dynamic expression in three dimensional
space. Besides art, I enjoy sewing, character design, and videogames.
Certain moments in life influenced the hobbies and interests I have today. My mom taught
me the basics of sewing, which led down a path to creating my own stuffed animals; my
brother showed me videogames, and my experience with them induced an interest for pro-
gramming; and adopting Kai, a stray cat that is disabled from a leg injury, inspired a desire to
learn about robotics and veterinary medicine. In my future, I want to improve the lives of ani-
mals, build cool robots, and sew a new brand of plush monsters for the weirdos of the world.

Art
My name is Madison Guth and I am in Art IV
this year. Some of my favorite projects this year
have been my oil painting where I painted three
scoops of ice cream and my silk, where I
painted a snowflake. Some of my hobbies and
interests include playing ping pong, going bowl-
ing, playing frisbee, and hanging out with my
friends. Activities at school that I am involved in
include Art Club, Yearbook, Musical, National
Honor Society, and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters
project. I also play volleyball, basketball, and
softball. After high school I plan on attending
Bowling Green State University to major in In-
tegrated Early Childhood Education.

March Artists Madison Guth and Laini Gillett
My name is Laini Gillett, and I am in Art IV. My
favorite project that we have ever done would
have to be our oil paintings because it was so
much fun to work with. On the weekends, I
enjoy hanging out with my friends and going on
adventures. I love to watch sports and craft
with my family in my free time. I am in NHS,
Art Club, a member of National Machinery, and
I am a varsity basketball and softball player. Af-
ter high school I plan on attending Owens Com-
munity College to major in Marketing and mi-
nor in Communications.
