Caroline Horton: You’re Not Like The Other Girls ChrissyTime: 8pmDuration: 1hrAge: 11+Price: £8 / £5 con / J3

January 1945, Paris is liberated. Christiane waits at Gare Du Nord for a ticket to England to be reunited with her English fiancé.

Whilst she waits, this gloriously irrepressible Mademoiselle recounts the extraordinary love story between her - an eccentric, acutely myopic Parisian - and her shy, uptight beanpole from Staffordshire. From a chance encounter at Cheadle tennis club, their story takes us on to cosmopolitan 1930s Paris before their inevitable separation by war. A separation, which she hopes, today, will finally come to an end.

A fond, comical and ultimately poignant portrait of one woman’s experience of love and war.

Best Solo Performer, The Stage Awards 2010, Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Commissioned by China Plate, Warwick Arts Centre and mac.

The Plasticine Men: KeepersTime: 8pmDuration: 1hrAge: 12+Price: £12 / £6 con / J2

200 years ago, far off the Welsh coast, one man faced an ordeal so diabolical that it would go down in maritime legend, changing the way lighthouses were run forever.

Using original live music and little more than a ladder and a trapdoor, The Plasticine Men conjure up the confines of the infamous Smalls Lighthouse and the stormy companionship of its two keepers.

Based on an extraordinary true story, an enchanting tale of sudden loss of life and drawn out loss of sanity unfolds between the flashes of the lamp that the pair must tend each and every night.

Winners of a ThreeWeeks Editor’s Award, shortlisted for The Stage Acting Award and Total Theatre Award nominees at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010.

The Paper Birds:ThirstyTime: 8pmDuration: 45 mins (plus informal feedback)Age: 13+ Price: £5 / £4 con / J3

The Paper Birds present a work in progress sharing of Thirsty, a theatrical exploration into the upsurge of the binge drinking culture currently gripping the UK.

Thirsty looks past the facts and figures of binge drinking to the faces and voices of women admitted into A&E in the dead of the night and of the lone girls sitting on pavements unable to stand.

Thirsty explores the stories and social repercussions of lost memories and gained traumas.

This is the tale of bruised knees, uncontrollable laughter, forgotten moments and urine stained beds…a story that repeats itself across the UK and beyond every Friday night.

Research and Development process supported by The Junction.

Badac Theatre Company: Al NakbaTime: 8pmDuration: 1hr Age: 14+Price: £8 / £6 con / J1

In December 2008, the Israeli armed forces launched a 22-day offensive in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian people living within Gaza were bombed relentlessly, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of men, women and children.

Throughout the bombardment Palestinian civilians lost their homes and their livelihoods. The infrastructure of their society was specifically targeted and for 22 days they fought to survive.

Al Nakba focuses on one family and their struggle to live through the onslaught. It explores both the physical and psychological effects of the attacks and aims to highlight and communicate the human rights abuses that the Palestinian people were forced to endure.

Badac Theatre Company produces intense physical pieces of theatre that aim to highlight human rights abuses and what they actually mean to the individuals that experience them.

Bryony Kimmings: 7 Day DrunkTime: 8pmDuration: 30 mins (plus informal feedback)Age: 18+ Price: £5 / £4 con / J2

Bryony Kimmings has always had a rocky relationship with alcohol. It seems that drinking is intrinsically linked to her confidence and self worth as an artist and is to blame for some of her most genius as well as her most hideous creations.

Of course this is no new conundrum, for years artists have struggled with their addictions and its effects on their creativity: Truman Capote, Jackson Pollock, Charles Bukowski…all case in point. So what is it about alcohol that moves artists to create? Is the work that comes from these states actually any good? Where in the brain do these brilliant ideas come from? How does the body cope with such abuse?

This one woman show is created entirely in states of intoxication in collaboration with a documentary filmmaker, neuroscientist, pharmacologist, sociologist, psychologist and IT professor. Join Junction Associate Artist Bryony Kimmings for a work in progress showing of this new piece.
