Over the years we have had many great social events in our parish community. We have had socials for New Year's Eve, St. Patrick's Day, Mardi Gras, Our Lady of Guada-lupe, Valentine's Day, and so many more. It seems we will use any excuse to have a party and enjoy each other's com-pany. And for more than the last decade, my pastor has been present at most of these events. What always tickles me is to see him in his clerics going around with a tray of entrees or desserts as he seeks to serve his parishioners. We have joked that his clothing does resemble that of a waiter in a fine restaurant. The only difference is no tips! Sorry, Monsignor. To see a shepherd serve his sheep causes me to re-flect on how we are all called to serve one another. We are called to a life of humility and service, giving of ourselves for the greater glory of God. When we seek to serve our brothers and sisters, the Jesus in us meets the Jesus in them. In our everyday lives we can find ways of serving others if we are mindful of the opportunities all around us. We must never fall into the trap of seeing others in terms of "us and them." In Christ, there is only US. In Christ, there is no Greek or Jew, servant or free. We are one. On this day, who will God place on your path for you to serve? Don't be fooled into thinking that all calls are for some-thing grand. Sometimes, even a little dessert might be all it takes to show others they are loved.

A lo largo de los anos, dentro de mi parroquia, hemos teni-do eventos sociales para diferentes fiestas. Hemos tenido eventos sociales para Nochevieja, san Patricio, Mardi Gras, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, san Valentín y muchos más. A veces parece como si quisiéramos dar cualquier excusa para disfrutar de la compañía de los demás. Y por más de diez años, el sacerdote de la parroquia ha estado en cada uno de esos eventos. Lo que siempre me ha dado gracia es ver a nuestro pastor en su ropa de clérigo servir la comida y los postres a los parroquianos. Y hemos bromeado que su ropa sí se parece a la ropa que llevaría un mesero en un restaurante. La única diferencia es que él no puede ganarse propinas. (¡Disculpa, monseñor!) Ver a un obrero servir a su rebaño me causa reflexio-nar sobre el llamado que todos tenemos de servir a los de-más. Estamos llamados a vivir una vida humilde y de ser-vicio, dando nuestro ser para la gloria de Dios. Cuando servimos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas, el Jesús que está dentro de nosotros puede ver al Jesús dentro de los demás. En nuestras vidas diarias podemos servir a otros si estamos conscientes de las oportunidades que se nos pre-sentan. Nunca debemos de caernos en la trampa de "ellos y nosotros". En Cristo, solo hay nosotros. En Cristo no hay ni griego ni judío, ni esclavos ni libres. Somos uno. ¿A quién le pondrá en su camino Dios hoy para que lo sirva? No piense que cualquier llamado es para algo grandioso. A veces, hasta un postre es lo que toma para mostrar el amor.

Our Gospel today reminds me of a saying by Socrates, “The unexamined life is not worth living." The examined life, however, is well worth living and can continually open our eyes to God's presence, even if we've fallen asleep or wandered away. So ready yourself with the oil of reflection. Trim the wick of your life with truth to rekindle the Christ light we promised to keep burning brightly. Make time every day for thanksgiving by showing Jesus to others. Ask forgiveness for the times when your eyes were closed or you chose another way. That's how to stay awake and be ready at all times. May God give us the grace we need to do these things and be ready for the Bride and Bridegroom when they come.

Sin embargo, vale la pena vivir la vida examinada y que puede abrir nuestros ojos continuamente a la presencia de Dios, aunque nos hemos quedado dormidos. Así que preparémonos con el aceite de la reflexión. Recorte la mecha de su vida con la verdad para reavivar la luz de Cristo que prometimos que continuara brillando intensamente. Hagan tiempo todos los días para dar gracias mostrándole Jesús a los demás. Pidan perdón por los momentos en que sus ojos se cerraron o eligió otra forma. Así es como mantenerse despierto y estar listo en todo momento. Que Dios nos dé la gracia que necesitamos para hacer estas cosas y estemos listos para la Novia y el Novio cuando vengan.

Our guests loved the sandwich-es and the extra fresh healthy salad and fried po-tatoes. Their lunch were over flowing. It is soul stir-ring to see how our guests enjoy the contents of the bags served them. Praise God for these and all the wingless angels He send each week to be a blessing for our guests. Amen.

We are humbly apprecia-tive and grateful Dear Church Family for your support of our efforts to raise the needed funds for the tent and dumpster used during the Christmas Din-ner
In the weeks leading up to our Annual Christmas Din-ner on Christmas day there will many inserts with the needs to bless our 1800-2000 invited guests. Marion Sadler our St. Aga-tha famous sweet potato pie maker has generously again this year donated 15 homemade sweet potato "tater" pies to the S.H.A.R.E Ministry for Thanksgiving. We will be behind the church today to take your orders. The pies will be delivered on Sun-day November 19, 2017 in time for your Thanksgiv-ing dinner. The donation for each pie is $15.00 and due when the pie is or-dered.

Dear Father God help us in being a blessing to others and ourselves in doing your will in serving oth-ers. Help us to reach in
sincerity in doing your works, let it come from the core of our souls, spirits and hearts. Let us not do this to boast about and to look around to see who is witnessing the act but through the name of Jesus.
Let us as we move into this Advent season exercise being does of the word through our words, actions and deeds. Let us practice patience, tolerance, ac-ceptance and respect to all we meet on our journey.
We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Please continue to be blessed and be a blessing as you encourage everyone you meet during your jour-ney to storm heaven with prayers for unity and peace everywhere on this earth

St. Agatha’s Parishioners Santa Needs Your Help!
This year, poor Santa has so many children on his list, that he can’t get them all. Santa is so sad because so many little boys and girls on his list will be missed. Please help Santa by giving these little boys and girls a Christmas to remem-ber!
On the weekend of November 18 and 19, the St. Agatha Adopt a Family for Christmas Ministry will start distrib-uting the names of the families that need to be adopted for Christmas. We will also be distributing the Angles. If you adopt a family it means that you buy a gift for the family and donate a supermarket gift card and return the gifts and gift card by December 20.
If you do not want to adopt a family, we also have the An-gels. You take an angle(s) and buy a gift for the age that is printed. If you take an angel, please NO CLOTHING as gifts. We will also accept gift certificates from stores, supermarkets or $$$ donations and will be distributed to the families that do not get adopt-ed. Please see Gloria after Mass if you are interested in adopting a family, taking an angle or making a donation. Blessings.

El fin de semana del 18 y 19 de noviembre, el ministerio de Adoptar Familias para Navidad comenzara a distribuir los ángeles y nombres de familias que necesitan ser adoptadas esta navidad.
Si adopta una familia, se significa que les comprara regalos para los miembros de esa familia y también un certificado para el supermercado antes del 20 de diciembre. Y para las personas que quieren adoptar, tenemos los angelitos, el cual
compra un regalo para la edad que esta marcada. Si adopta un ángel, por favor NO ROPA.
También aceptamos tarjetas de tien-das, supermercado o donaciones de $$$ para las familias que no son adoptadas. Por favor busque a Glo-ria después de la misa si esta intere-sado en adoptar una familia o hacer una donación. Gracias.

Sacrament of Confirmation Igniting the Holy Spirit Within You
St. Agatha’s is offering a five month Adult Confirmation Preparation Course. This course is open to:
Anyone who is 18 years or older Baptized in the Catholic Church
Anyone that has already received their First Communion
Through this process you learn about the Catholic Faith but more importantly you get an opportunity to experience God’s grace and presence. Take the time to pray to see if God is calling you to this Sac-rament.
