OUR 9:30 A.M. WORSHIP
PRESERVICE “Blessed Be Your Name” Blessed be Your name, In the land that is plentiful Where Your streams of abundance flow, Blessed be Your name And blessed be Your name, When I'm found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness, Blessed be Your name
Chorus: Every blessing You pour out, I'll turn back to praise And when the darkness closes in, Lord still I will say Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your name Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name, When the sun's shining down on me When the world's all as it should be, Blessed be Your name And blessed be Your name, On the road marked with suffering Though there's pain in the offering, Blessed be Your name
Chorus
Chorus 2: Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your name Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your glorious name
You give and take away, You give and take away My heart will choose to say, Lord blessed be Your name Repeat

INVOCATION Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. People: Amen.
CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION Pastor: Gracious Lord,
5
People: we come before You, laying the burden of our sin at the foot of Your cross. We openly acknowledge our failure to follow Your plans for our lives. We have stumbled and fallen in our service to You. We have placed our agenda ahead of Yours. We have been shallow in our love toward You and toward those You have placed in our path. We cry out for mercy, trusting in Your promise to forgive us through the love of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Pastor: God has heard your cry for mercy and fulfills His promise to save and deliver you! As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I announce the forgiveness of all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. People: Amen.
SONG OF PRAISE “Great Are You Lord” Verse: You give life You are love, You bring light to the darkness You give hope You restore ev'ry heart that is broken And great are You Lord
Chorus: It's Your breath in our lungs So we pour out our praise, We pour out our praise It's Your breath in our lungs So we pour out our praise to You only
Verse
Chorus 2Xs
And all the earth will shout Your praise Our hearts will cry these bones will sing, Great are You Lord (3Xs)

PRAYER OF THE DAY Pastor: Almighty God, Your Son willingly endured the evil of sin and death at the cross for our redemption. Enable us to stand in the goodness of our Savior so that we are not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. People: Amen.
EPISTLE Philippians 1:27–30 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.
Reader: This is the Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.
WE SING TO THE LORD “No Longer Slaves” You unravel me with a melody You surround me with a song Of deliverance from my enemies Till all my fears are gone
Chorus:
7
I'm no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God I'm no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God
From my Mother's womb You have chosen me Love has called my name I've been born again into my family Your blood flows through my veins
Chorus
You split the sea so I could walk right through it My fears were drowned in perfect love You rescued me so I could stand and sing I am a child of God Repeat
Chorus

CONCLUSION:
APOSTLES CREED I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge
the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen.
OFFERING During this time please continue to worship through giving.
PRAYER
LORD’S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Middle School Confirmation
Confirmation is a two-year journey where students have the opportunity to learn, own and express their faith, and profess Jesus as Lord publicly! It typically spans the 7th and 8th-grade years, but we are open to other situations!
Mandatory Parent Informational Video – Website
This video will go over the expectations and requirements for Confirmation, the format of what we do each week, why we do it, how we do it, and when we do it. Visit our website at Hephatha.net/Confirmation to watch the video and register your confirmand. If you have questions not answered by the video or clarifying questions there will be a spot on the form to ask them. Pastor Andrews or Timothy Potthoff will respond back to you with the answer.
Classes begin Wednesday, September 9, 2020 starting at 3:30 p.m. in the courtyard.
For more information contact the church office at [email protected] or 714-637-0887
FOUNDATIONS MEMBERSHIP CLASS
The Foundations class is all about how God deals with the most important questions of life. We’re going to ask and answer:
Who is God?
How do I know God?
How does God give me hope?
Why is there suffering in this world?
How do I get power and hope for my life?
How do I deal with pain and suffering in life?
As you go through the Foundations class, God will encourage, strengthen, and direct you through His Word to help you in your relationship with God and others. This study is required for people who are interested in membership. However, participation in class does not commit you to church membership.
Classes are Wednesday Evenings at 7 p.m. on Zoom starting September 16. Contact the church office to
sign up at [email protected].

"KNOWING GOD" Noon Time Bible Study
Join us for a thoughtful, practical, and helpful online Bible study diving deeply into Scriptures to better understand the character of God. The study will meet on Wednesdays on Google Meet and start on September 16th at 12 p.m.
In this brand-new study, we're going to be reading the classic work Knowing God by J.I. Packer. The book is written in a very practical and thoughtful way. You will
be enriched in your understanding of God and encouraged in your faith in Him.
Dr. Packer divided his book into three major sections: know the Lord, behold your God, and if God is for us. In other words, we'll look at how and why we know God. Then we'll look at the attributes of God. And finally, we're going to discuss the blessings that are enjoyed by those who know God.
Please be sure to sign up beforehand by contacting the church office at [email protected] or 714-637-0887. You'll want to order the book Knowing God by J.I. Packer. The cost is $10.99, and the book is available from Amazon.com and Christianbook.com. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church office.
