The Maquette of the Complete Statue

The maquette is the model for the full statue and a stunning portrait of John Magee Jr. wearing his pilot’s uniform as he would have appeared on the airfield at Wellingore in 1941. Every detail of the uniform and equipment portrayed has been researched as the authentic kit Magee would have worn at the time of his fatal flight. His build and facial features are taken from the RCAF records and contemporary photographs of the time. All proceeds from the sale of items will contribute to the purchase of the full bronze statue to be located in the Millfield Park at Wellingore, UK and to the landscaping of the memorial and a small Visitor Centre. The village of Wellingore is the site of John Magee Jr’s last posting and the airfield from which he took off for his fatal flight.
