appears to be associated with a Salmonella Litchfield outbreak in the United States and Canada. In persons with poor health or weakened immune systems, Salmonella can invade the bloodstream and cause life-threatening infections. Symptoms of food-borne Salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. Individuals who have recently eaten cantaloupe and experienced any of these symptoms should contact their health care professional. The FDA advises that U.S. grocers, food service operators and produce processors remove from their stock any cantaloupes grown packed and shipped from this company. The FDA is also advises consumers who have recently bought cantaloupes to check with the place of purchase to determine if the fruit came from this specific grower and packer. If so, consumers should throw away the cantaloupes. The cantaloupes were distributed for sale in medium brown cardboard cartons with the brands “Mikes Melons” or “Mayan Pride” all showing “PRODUCE OF HONDURAS” printed on each of the four side panels of the carton. The address of the shipper appears on one end panel of the carton as follows: GROWN, PACKED AND SHIPPED BY: AGROPECUARIA MONTELIBANO SAN LORENZO, VALLE, HONDURAS There are other firms that are involved in this recall using other labels of the same grower, including Mikes Melons. The FDA is taking this preventive measure while the agency continues to investigate this outbreak in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state partners. March 24th, 2008 12:00PST Sun Rich Fresh Foods Inc. RE: Cantaloupe Alert Update The following information is an update to my letter dated March 23rd, 2008, 3:00PST advising you of the FDA and CFIA cantaloupe alerts. Sun Rich is currently producing fruit salad and cantaloupe products in all business units using cantaloupe from approved suppliers that are not associated with this cantaloupe alert. All current orders will be filled. We are unfortunately not able to expedite ship orders to refill the pipeline that has been depleted due to the cantaloupe stock removal and are not able to produce significantly larger than normal orders to refill the pipeline that has been depleted due to the cantaloupe stock removal. Please note that any product that you have on site that does not exactly match the lot codes listed in our stock removal request is in no way affected by the advisory and is good to sell and use. Even if the lot codes are similar, if the lot code is not an exact match with the list we have provided you then the product does not contain any of the cantaloupe in question and is not affected by this alert. All affected product that has been removed from stock at the retailer, distributor or the operator level should be destroyed at this time. It is important that you follow all local, state, and provincial rules and regulations for disposition and ensure public safety when destroying product. Sun Rich will provide a credit to your distributor to reimburse any operator affected by this alert. Credit will only be provided upon accurate documentation of the following information from any applicable distributor:

• Operator Name & Address (or store #) • Product name • Quantity • Lot code • Best before date • Name of person completing report

The credit requested must be comprised of product from the list of affected products. No credits will be considered for any product with an expiration date earlier than March 23rd. Separate communication regarding credit request handling procedures by distributors to Sun Rich has been sent directly to the distribution community. If you have any questions about the above please direct them to: Carl Svangtun, COO Sun Rich Fresh Foods Inc. 604-808-1112, x308.
