The Italian American alice Society of New Jersey Autumn 2003 Vol. 2003 NO.3 June 22nd we held a Scholarship Brunch at the Fiesta. Ten $1000 scholarships to college bound children of our members. This year a new schol- arship was dedicated in the memory of Mary Ann Collura, Fairlawn PO, who made the ultimate sacrifice during this year. Our annual Night at the Races was June 27th at the Meadowlands. This year's event was one of the biggest yet. The weather was great, despite the threats of thunder storms that were heard all day. The names of two lucky members for bullet- proof vests (see below) were drawn, and all pre- sent had a great time. Many thanks to our "races" committee, Ron Sepe and Joe Simonetti. This year we had a "Night at the Ball Game" on July 11 th, at the Somerset Patriots, in Bridgewa- ter. The opening ceremonies by the Somerset County Sheriffs Office with the National Anthem sung by our member, Trooper Cavallo were excel- lent. Thanks to the Somerset County Sheriffs Office for providing the color guard to open the game. The BBQ before the game was great and the Patriots won it in the 9th inning. Just as the last out was made, the Fireworks started to finish off a great family outing. We had 60 members at the picnic and about 100 in the general seating area. The team said it was one of their best attendance days ever and are really looking for- ward to our visit next summer. August 2nd, we had our 2nd Annual Pool Party & Picnic at the Manor Swim Club in Westfield. June 22nd we held a Scholarship Brunch at the Fiesta. Ten $1000 scholarships to college bound children of our members. This year a new scholarship was dedicated in the memory of Mary Ann Collura, Fairlawn PO, who made the ultimate sacrifice during this year.

Our annual Night at the Races was June 27th at the Meadowlands. This year's event was one of the biggest yet. The weather was great, despite the threats of thunder storms that were heard all day. The names of two lucky members for bulletproof vests (see below) were drawn, and all present had a great time. Many thanks to our "races" committee, Ron Sepe and Joe Simonetti.

This year we had a "Night at the Ball Game" on July 11 th, at the Somerset Patriots, in Bridgewater. The opening ceremonies by the Somerset County Sheriffs Office with the National Anthem sung by our member, Trooper Cavallo were excellent. Thanks to the Somerset County Sheriffs

Office for providing the color guard to open the game. The BBQ before the game was great and the Patriots won it in the 9th inning. Just as the last out was made, the Fireworks started to finish off a great family outing. We had 60 members at the picnic and about 100 in the general seating area. The team said it was one of their best attendance days ever and are really looking forward to our visit next summer. August 2nd, we had our 2nd Annual Pool Party
