The InrernarionolSocieryfor Inrerculrural Education, 7Mningond Research (SIETAR International) is
an international professional association designed to serve scholars and practitioners working in
intercultural and international fields. SIETAR International’s approach is interdisciplinary, drawing its
resources from a variety of educational, governmental, business, and other organizations. both public and
private. As a result of its diverse membership, SIETAR International provides access to colleagues from a
variety of disciplines. fields. and international/intercultural associations.
SIETAR International’s chanercommits its members to the practice of intercultural communication and
to the promotion of cultural understanding. The membership accepts the challenge to: (I) promote and
support growth of knowledge and skills in the fields of international and intercultural communication: (2)
foster the professional development of educators, trainers, and rcsearchcrs in the field; (3) bring persons of
differing orientations together, i.e.. the researcher, the theoretician, theacademician, and the practitioner: (4)
facilitate the dissemination and exchange of Information on intercultural education, research and training
techniques byconveningseminars, symposia, workshopsand institutes;(5)generateasenseoffellowshipand
identity for those working in several cultures: and (6) apply all of thescptinciplcs internationally.
The Society ts open to membenhip on an individual basis with student and regular memberships and on an
institutional basis with rcgularinstitutional membershipsand sustaining memberships. Theannualfccsarc:
students 525.00; regular members 150.00; sustaining members 5100.00; and institutions S195.00. A life
sustaining membership also may be established for 52000.00. payable in three installments.
SIETAR International membership provides: subscription to IJIR. subscription to CommuniquC, a
quarterly newsletter which publishes information on current activities, research, and publications; reduced
registration fees for the Annual SIETAR International Conferences which feature experiential workshops.
