The Inmans and the Coopers Celebrate Samuel Champion Cooper (1840-1904) and his wife, Emma Jane (Widener) Kite Cooper, of Camden, New Jersey, built their summer cottage, “The Larches” in 1895 on the Back Shore in Southwest Harbor, Maine. The Coopers’ son, Joseph Walter Cooper (1869-), married Nellie Sue Inman (1871-), daughter of Samuel Andrew Martin Inman (1843-1915) and his first wife, Nancy Jane (Dick) Inman (1846- 1890) in Camden, New Jersey on April 19, 1893. Samuel Andrew Martin Inman and his recently acquired second wife, Mildred (McPheeters) Inman (1867-1946), gave a lavish reception at their home in Atlanta, Georgia, for their daughter Nellie and her mother in law, Emma Jane Cooper on March 28, 1894. The fulsome description of the party, published in “The Atlanta Constitution” on March 29, 1894 illustrates the world inhabited by the Cooper and Inman families.
