I’m sure you would agree that the children had a most wonderful time celebrating, performing, watching and cheering on their friends. Martial Arts Workshops As part of our support for the National Day of Action Against Bullying, next Monday students will be participating in a 25minute karate workshop, which aims to create safety awareness. They will develop skills and confidence so that if ever placed in a self-defence scenario, they are better equipped to protect themselves. A key focus of the workshop is to make clear to students that karate training is for self-defence purposes only, and is never to be used at home or in the playground. Students are encouraged to wear their sport uniform and sport shoes on Monday. Police Visit Next Wednesday Senior Constable Myrna Williams who is the Youth Liaison Officer from Macquarie Fields Police will be speaking to our students in Stage 3 about bullying, cyber safety and the law. The students always take much away from Constable Williams’ talks as well as ask many questions of her during her visits. DanceSport Commencing on Wednesday of Week 1 next term, all students in Year 5 will be participating in a DanceSport program aimed at increasing confidence and respect amongst participants as well as teaching students a range of DanceSport routines. This program has had outstanding success in schools across Sydney including a positive impact on student behaviour in the classroom and playground. We look forward to seeing where this exciting program takes us! Parliament Alive Next Wednesday we have Mr Laurie Ferguson, Member for Werriwa, and visiting educators from the Parliamentary Education Office in Canberra attending our school to conduct a series of workshops with Stage 3 students as part of the Parliament Alive program. This is a great opportunity for our students to learn more about the parliamentary process. Western Sydney University – Astronomy Nights Information regarding a series of astronomy nights to held at Campbelltown Rotary Observatory has been uploaded to Skoolbag under Parent Information. If you would like your child to attend one or more of the evenings please reply via Skoolbag or contact me at the school by next Tuesday. Breakfast Club We are seeking some extra helpers to serve at breakfast club between 8:30-9:00am on Fridays. If you are able to help, please contact me. We have wonderful community support for this program by way of donations and volunteers but more help is required to keep the program operating daily.
