The “regular” BSADonor Awareness Patch
Began in 1986 as a Presidential Good Turn to educate Americans about the importance of organ and tissue donation
Initially saw success, but in recent years has not seen much active promotion
Meet Charlie Walker
Who was Charlie Walker?
A Scout who passed away while awaiting a lung transplant
Was able to donate several of his organs so other people could lead healthy lives
Members of the Order of the Arrow(Aracoma Lodge)
took note of Charlie’s selflessness and
decided it would be a fitting tribute to name an organ donor awareness program
after him.
The Charlie Walker Organ Donor Awareness
Program
Builds on the BSA’s existing Program
But is separate from it
